Just like religion , youf food whether veg or non-veg is entirely personnal and has great relavance on people value system. there may be endless arguement in its or against favor. a portal should be sensitive enough to deal it

Science. Zeng, where is the science in this article. The tiltle talks something differently than the subject matter. The comment by Arvind was more related to publishing something absurd. The article call occasional meat eaters also as vegetarian which is wrong. There is not science in this. If want to know better about nutritional requirements, better check appropriate website rather wasting your time with rediff reading such article. I have already wasted my time reading this article.
article didn't tell about "Bad Idea" of being veggie. It just informed about nutrient values of food items. please give stastics comparing veggies & non-veggies health. please stop hammering Indian (read hindu) culture, by nonsense studies. Give some proof

By denifnition, Hindus are not even vegetatians. They are lacto vegetarians. They are also one of the weakest/shortest/poorest/least educated tribe on earth - if you take the average and compare with any developed country.. Now don't show few outstanding people from a country of a billion. Stop your ostrich mentality.

mental, this is the presnt storey about India to some extent. We were the richest and highly educated and this is the reason that weseners and arabs have come to this county in History. You will see or your children will see a rich India in 2040-2050. By the way yoru beloved china was never rich in history and enen now just a high middle income county (India lo0w middle income country), accrding to the definition of world bank. YOur people are mcu shorted than us, this is a will-known fact. YOu may have some physical strenth but no mental strenth. Because of our essentially veretarian food, we are both mentally and physically strong. IF you are great pople why you remainde as poor for thousand of years. We were rich till 1730 and then we became poor and now we are again becomming rich. Do you ever had richness in your coutnry. if you are rich in the past, why do y ou have the culture of eating lilzards, snakes, and garden lizards?
The first food a baby has is non vegetarian ... It's mother's milk. The term Vegetarian Food is an oxymoron... Till you don't photosynthesize yourself... all food is non vegetarian.

dear, our definition of non veg food is the food obtained by killing and painign other animals diretly or indirectly. No vef ever accepted your definitio of non verg food.
Till now there is no great difference in the health of vegetarians and non vegetarians. None of them can say that their food is heathier. Both the veg and non veg people are suffering from BP,Diabitis and heart attacks. Both of them stop/reduce eating sugar,Oil,salt and maida to improve their health.
Vegetarianism exists only in India(mostly). The concept is natural foods along with dairy foods. No need of deviding vegetarians in to so may categories. Some of the vegetarians started eating eggs from last 3-4 decades. Lot of debate went on it.
Mostly vegetarian people are happy with their food habits.
