generally when the pronunciation is "cee", cei is used. Eg. Conceive. But there are exceptions to this rule as well :-)

Physician heal thyself . have you heard this phrase anytime? Majority of the bhayyas , biharis northies , oriyans first translate from mother tongue then use words in english i mean equivalent words .Majority of them cannot think in english thats the crux of the problem. Plus hardly anyone is learing wren and Martins English grammar and composition . I treat english language with reverence because a village boy like me could achieve the epitome of success just because of English . rest everything is secondary.thanks try listen to BBC news , read holy bible because it also contains best usages . besides technology one must read literature as well to enhance the proficiency .Oriyans are hardworking class so you too can make the difference no need to go toelitist schools because the real game starts after 12th.

Dear kalebai,
Stop being rude .Grammatically correct words or spellings , usages -not even Brits or Americans use . The linguists there are also worried equally about this . For example SMS and using short mails etc are killing the creative writings .

Stupid question No.12
by RN Iyengar on May 05, 2011 08:36 AM  | Hide replies

Question No.12 is stupid. Question No. 7 is correct if you speak American and selected 'practice'; Americans use this for both. So, professor, make sure you educate yourself before you teach others!

expired is perfectly accepted. don't worry. BTW, english language is a bi-tch. anyone can bend rules. For us, it is just a foreign language. it is alright as long as you convey the message you intended to convey without any misunderstanding.
i have seen many bangladeshi and a filipina talking in broken english understand each other perfectly. so language is just a tool for communication. there are no hard and fast rules.

Really common blunders
by Nilesh Sompura on May 03, 2011 09:32 AM

I have seen these mistakes from people I know. Also common is what I call the 'apostrophe syndrome'. For every 'S', there is an apostrophe! For e.g. - "I have seen these mistake's....."

by Bernardine Jackson on May 03, 2011 09:09 AM  | Hide replies

When referring to the Personnel Manager - the word 'personnel' is correct - coz he is not the manager for one sinle person - no - he is the manager for the entire staff working in any organization - hence this is one place where you are wrong

You might have impeccable english, but understand the question first. It says if somebody applying for a position for teaching english refers to "Personal" Manager than he/she will not get the job.

I agree with Bernadine. This is the only thing I got wrong and request the quiz master to correct this. I started by career in the 'Personnel' department reporting to a 'Personnel' Manager and not 'Personal' Manager.

Hey guyz,

The statement said that the application to BLANK manager WOULD NOT get you a job in the English department... meaning you had to choose the incorrect option out of 'Personal' and 'Personnel', which in this case was 'Personal'.
