Seems dear U need to be the part of the game...Engineers & forces are 2 different vertical. How could you compare their jobs.I am not a eng. nor a force person but yes i belive both of them serve the country on their own ways.Don't get tensed,An eng. cannot serve the border but a force person can serve as a engineer.chk ur thoughts & have some cool drinks.

ever section of the society who doing their works are serving the nation. It is not true that serving the nation can be done by joining the army.yes army people sacrifice their life much more than general people by serving the nation and therfore they are much remembered.

Morning breakfast, drill and games. After 3 pm all sorts of games.
Good breakfast,lunch and dinner.
After completing BSc,till the time there is no war, this schedule will continue.
Just getup in the morning do some drills, play eat ,drink subsidized liquor etc.All is free.
We who actually "work" and pay taxes for your "good" breakfast and lunch and dinner and games and drills.Go bugger enjoy "serving" ur nation without working for 99% of your life.
Remember, you dont need to join forces to serve your country.Even a child who does his homework is serving the country.
Stop calling a non constructive job in forces as "service to the nation".

So what are you suggesting. That the army be disbanded and there should be no military? You don't sound sane. They are given such liberties because they are first casualties in war unlike you who sits in his house far away from the border or the war thinking that at least the war has not reached my state, my town, my house.....How much constructive work do you do apart from filling your pockets ? He at least has the guts to choose a profession which could end his life abruptly. At least he has and believes in the concept of a country/patriotism unlike cynical you...

He dropped out Engineering to serve the Country
by Apparao Nelli on Apr 27, 2010 02:46 PM  | Hide replies

Dear Sirs,
I found nothing wrong with the title of this excellent piece of interview. To me Mr.Sriram appeared to be a highlymotivated and matured man, even though he is a boy of 19 yrs.
At the moment, his heart and soul are filled with an earnest desire to serve the Nation.Even if he retains 50 per cent of this Zeal in the later days of his service,he will be a great asset to the services and the Nation. His interview should serve as an eye opener to all those who are involved in land scandals, selling of defence documemts and for those who almost led a near revolt for parity in pay with IAS officers during the recent central pay commission.Note his message"Don't join the Forces for money".
Hail Sriram. I liked every word of your intervirw.Take print out of your interview and keep reading it every day.It will remind you of your resolve and goals of of your life.
Apparao Nelli

Mr. Apparao Sir, don't become so emotional. Interview answers are different from practical life. There's lot of corruption in defence field. We just need to pray and hope Sriram will not be another culprit. Take a chill-pill and relax.

SSB interviews should be taken off.Only NDA written test should be considered. This will avoid corruption favourism etc in defence.

There is something called EQ(emotional quotient) and those who aspire with that along with IQ are bound to be victorious and successful. I hope Mr. Sriram will be recognised in the long run as someone of that kind. His love for his nation will enable him to override through many hurdles at bottom.

Jijy Joseph
Belong there
by Jijy Joseph on Apr 27, 2010 02:43 PM

Arent we having a futile argument here…..Are the Engineering fraternity better contributing? …..Or are the men serving the nation in its Army better? ….I think it’s the people with commitment and expertise in respective fields who generate honour through their acts

Each field has its honour if done with commitment and dedication and by people having the temperament and qualities to be in that field.

There’s no point in joining the Army if you do not have the temperament, the qualities to belong there, same goes with the engineer stream.

Sriram had the temperament for Army and lets hope he qualifies to be a great soldier. My wishes are with him.

There is a saying “ Jiska kaam ussi ko saje, Aur kare tho danda baaje”.

Good Job
by Ramesh on Apr 27, 2010 02:25 PM

He has done a good job.
The way title has been chosen gives a wrong impression. It doesn't mean that engineering is a waste profession.

Engineers Corps, EME & SIGNALS exist in Indian ARMY, any army can not move further without their help.
Engineering is necessary everywhere...

Internal disturbances
by Gopi on Apr 27, 2010 02:25 PM  | Hide replies

I wonder how such huge number of arms like AK47, rocket launchers, rifles are coming inside India and into hands of Naxals. Surely there can't be any manufacturing unit of such sophistication in India. They can't come via air route for sure. So, they should be crossing the borders only via land or sea route. So it implies that Indian army and Navy is either careless or hand-in-gloves with terrorists. We can just hope Sriram won't become another traitor.

It is easy to criticise Gopi. We have vast coastal belt, and it is just not practical to have a close watch of every inch of this belt. Infiltration can be prevented only by getting prior information from spys and IB agencies. These are the people who lay down tehir life knowing fully that it is futile exercise, give the fact our politicians are virtually raping mother India every day, and they are sacrificing their life for a lost cause.
