Do it for yourselves
by ASHVIN KATHURI on Apr 27, 2010 10:04 PM

Any service you are doing is for yourself, it's for your pleasure and satisfaction and even the service to Nation is your personal accomplishment, but in few jobs it helps the society in a larger picture and some do not..

For those who believe they are paying taxes....you gotta know that 80% of the revenue comes from only 20% of the people and first you gotta figure out if you belong to that 20%

Have u ever experienced the conditions our young men and women endure so that cow ards like you sit in comfort of your OFFICE AC and send out these illogical messages. Go meet a veteran who has fought in WW2, First Kashmir war, 1962 war, 1965 war, 1971 war, Kargil war, and raging insurgencies across India created by your Congress party, then write such kind of statements above. BTW have you seen the obsolete eqpt our armed forces use even though we spend 32 billion USD on defense....where does the money go...kickbacks ..have you forgotten Bofors and Gandi-Nehru family's involvement.....get answers to these questions and then criticize our armed forces

Maybe he doesn't realize that the reason there is no war 99 percent of the time is because these people are around. I suppose Bhutada would prefer to raise an army at the exact moment the enemy invades.

BTW, the army is deployed in Kashmir, and has been fighting insurgents in the NE as well.

Lemme see if I can come up with a good example... Most airports in snowy regions (like, say Chicago, but typical of any place that snows) have an army of snow ploughs that sit around doing nothing. It rarely snows so much to block a runway. 99 percent of the time, these machines that are worth tens of thousands of dollars each, are sitting doing nothing. But, when the snowstorm hits, these ploughs clear the runway in an hour or so. You could take the line that we don't need them 99 percent of the time, but then you would have to shut the airport for the 1 percent of time that you need it. And, that's usually more expensive.

The army exists not to fight, but to ensure that we don't ever have to fight. They will if they must, but unless you have designs of empire building, armies exist to make the enemy think twice about attacking. Maybe that concept is lost on you. Perhaps you lack of intelligence is best applied to your current insignificant job, where you are likely to do very little damage.

Maybe Noel doesn't realize that you can't simply resign from the Armed forces. It's not a 9-5 job; if the army refuses to accept your resignation, you cannot leave (you will be court martialled as a deserter if you do). There is no VRS in the army, and they have a shortage of officers.

Selection process for officers is not academic only. Perhaps Noel doesn't understand that army officers need to be intelligent as well. Some of them will go on to be generals.

Try to understand in the context it is used.

Kerala has 100% literacy rate, It has high density of graduates, yet the number opting for civil services is minisucle.

Traditionally northern region has been a dominant when it comes to civil services or army assignments, it is in that context used that he the first Keralite to take the honor.

People who opt for competitve exams like AIIMS, NDA, IIMS and others know value of topping the list.

Another dumb northy.
Most of the intelligent people & great achievers in this country are from south India, maharashta & Guharat who change face of India.
It only average northy who carves for govt jobs as no other opportunity there.
As per latest uS research, Jew is the most intelligent community in world followed by tamilian brahmin from palghat.
Even Bill gates quoted that south Indian (mind u not indian) are smartest people in the world are chinese. Also majority of top scientist, sports person, businessman, enterprenor, artist also come from south, Mahrashra & gujrat. North is only in producing corrupt politicains & govt officials.
Mr lover boy so keep ur facts right before commenting. Northys are far behind in everyfield aceept arrogance , showoff & politics.

At the very least, have some gratitude for people who will give their lives tomorrow. If you cant do that, try not to infect people with your crass materialism. that's a very poor reason to support your harsh criticism. This is the problem with Indians. They all have quick opinions but their reasoning and logic is very suspect. That's why India suffers so much and is doing so poorly, relatively speaking.

Lets assume what you said is right, The army is enjoying 99% of its time, even then at the time of war, they take part in the 1% of the time, is more that worth what we pay them. In that 1% of the time there are so many people who lost their lives helping us live peacefully. Personally I dont believe they enjoy 99% percent, but even if they do I wouldn't think twice to salute a person in Army/Airforce/Navy with all the respect in my heart.

hey don't preach Mr. Vijay, if you choose to join the armed forces it's your choice, don't feel overly proud of it and don't call it a national service, it's a job and fighting enemies is part of the job, as are the cocktails and parties of peace time (which is permanent in the present world). Armed forces is another job and nothing more or less.

There is a huge difference. People like you (and me) chose lucrative, cushy, and safe jobs. The people who join the army know the huge risks to their lives and sacrifice a lot more than we do. They have to face some of the toughest abuse from their superiors as part of toughening up. I am sure if your boss said the kind of things these guys have to hear, you will go crying all the way to the courts about abuse and harassment.

The reason you gave is really foolish....It hurts for you to see them playing..hahah funny...
Think of it this way...you have to keep yourself physically fit for the your entire life so taht you go and fight when the time comes..so you got to train yourself everyday..by playing or some form of physical activity...you know how much calories you need just to say do all this physical work...I mean even just walk for an hour in ths sun, all you lunch is drained...so lets not get into the eating and playing part..I hope you dont want some fat a$$ fighting who cannot run, nor climb for more than a min. It is endurance my friend..go to gym consistently for 365 days in a year..tell me one day how you feel when you are just lazy in your bed..i am sure it feels like heaven...Physical work is not as easy as you think...And the other side is to be mentally tough...Trust me. my friend is in the army he says..he goes and drags bodies from the electric fence every other day..or just dead bodies with guns that they shot the previous night...etc Do you think you can get over those thoughts in the night...So the price you pay for all these while sitting in your ac office is very less. be fortunate that some one out there is doing the dirty job for us here....
