removal of quotas,
by mukul ramkumar gupta on Jul 02, 2009 04:17 PM

minister should remove quota(including linguistic quota) and the admission should be based on merits alone nobody should be allowed to keep reserved seats for any class or caste e.g. o.b.c.,scd class etc and also mgmt should not be allowed to keep seat, this is my personal view and i recommend the same to the minister and he should forget vote bank policy and try to justice to education sysem.

shift to new paradigm in education
by babu rajan on Jul 02, 2009 04:14 PM

what kind of a society is it that puts its children through and stressful and inefficient system of examination oriented education in order for them to find jobs and live? It is possible to make education a joyful experience of inner and outer discovery and lead each one to a life and work that is most suitable to his/her nature. Would not the society and the individual be infinitely happier in such an arrangement?

Tinkering with Education
by ravi prakash on Jul 02, 2009 04:12 PM

I would ask the Hon. Minister why is he removing the 10th class exam? If the answer is that the student faces a lot of stress then the same stress will be present at the 12th exam and if this too is removed then the stress will move to the CETs.
The Education pattern of 10 2 3 was adopted to provide a certain level of educational attainment to branch off into the world of work. Now with the scrapping of the 10th std exam, a student will have to spend 2 more years before he can claim any educational attainment. With rising cost of education millions of people can ill afford to spend two full years- what would happen to the future of such people.
It is time rather, to specify the kind of opportunities available for gainful employment starting infact from class 8, class 10, class 12 and basic graduation. There are many areas of work that do not need graduation and can absorb people who are educated upto 8th standard.
A national board to enable privately educated persons to sit for public examinations could enable deprived people to study further after 8th, and 10th should be introduced. Instead, we find the Minister out to scrap the 10th exam.

Scrapping Class X board exams
by manoharan ganesan on Jul 02, 2009 03:39 PM

Scrapping Class X board exams is not a good move by the government since the student taking serious for his studies only from the class x onwards not before that and also it will help them to write 2 or intermediate exam. Hence, scrapping board exam is welcoming by the student but for their future it is not good move.

Scrap Class X board exams? Your say
by sridhar rao on Jul 02, 2009 03:38 PM

Before Core Subjects are decided there needs to be a common exam, in fact for a student to assess himself before the ultimate 10 2 , a common exam for 10 1 is to be added.
So it is Common Exams from 10th till Degree : 10 (for electives), 10 1 (for performance assessment before 10 2 ) & 10 2 (for entry to professional studies or into the lower rungs )

scrapping of 10 th is good but what i feel that it is very important for any student to learn in individual classes respective subjects. why not keep the averages right from 1 st std to 10 th std could be considered as a line of demarkation for further addmisions. this will also judge each and every student about his calibre well in advance and perents will no in advance where he is heading. for example a student getting very good marks from 1 st onwards say above 90% will be defiently heading towards high class studiesbecause ofhis overall performance for all the ten years.this wil also take care of any serious illness by which student could not give particular exam.

It is foolishness to scrap the X exam
by sandugi srinivas on Jul 02, 2009 03:23 PM  | Hide replies

It is foolish to scarp the exam at the level of X standard. The students starts praparing for their higher level studies from class X, they have mindset once they fare well at X exam , their morale will go up and become a strong student in their furure examinations like XII, Eamcet entrance etc.
IF you Kapil Sibal scrap exam at X standard , the students take things lightly and they never come up to the expectations of parents in their further studies, because it makes them to take things for granted.

So let the SYSTEM WHICH IS CONTINUING FOR AGES SINCE OUR FORE FATHERS AND VALUED AND RESPECTED FOR STUDENTS MERIT IN CLASS X FOR THEIR PERFORMANCE.
Mr.Kapil Sibal , please explain to all our countrymen, what you are going to gain by this move except publicity for your profile only, not any gain for students and parents, and moreover no one has got any problem with present system, instead fo taking such moves please concentrate on HOW YOU IMPROVE EDUCATION STANDARD AT DOWN THE VILLAGE LEVEL , THEIR BASIC NEEDS ETC.

Please STOP TAKING SUCH FOOLISH DECISIONS TO ATTRACT PEOPLE AND PUBLICITY.

Thick about welfare of the people and donot spoil the knowledge & talent of students , which they gain through examinations only.

colleges
and open wine shops in the same places
then there will not be any pressure for all including parents, only work is voting during election every 5 years

Are you ready to travel in a bullok cart now as our grand fathers travelled 50yrs ago?. Things should be changed on time. We can prevent our children from suicide. Why we have to pressurise children?.Let them decide their future.

As I have told earlier, changes should be there, But its merits and demerits should be thought of. Childern at this age can not decide their future. Elders should judge them and guide them according to thier capacity.

How would a child or its parent asses whether the child should go to science stream, arts stream or commerce stream or any other stream,if you scrap 10th board exams. Would you propose an entrance exam ? Then what is the use of scrapping the current exams ? Scrapping the exams is not a solution.Bring in a syllabus which is going to teach concepts, than making the child mug things up.

Before taking any hard steps please go thrugh thie ideas and what type of benefit student as well as parents will get. Now a days there is no value after passing X standard. Instead of making two examination ie. X and XII it isbetter make one exam of XII. for that studnet should go in the same school from X to XII. after X the subject may be changed as per students grassping pawer if this is the case what isthe harm to scrap the X examination. No body kows what is the idea of scraping X exami and in place what exactly in the mind of Mr. kapil Sibbal. First he clear all this things with educationist and they take any steps. Unnecessary some peoiple are critizing this matter before knowing the complete subject. To Dr Joshi iformed that religions subject to be started in this school it is Dr. should it should from house. Early morning all students are stand up inthe school and say the prayer and what else he want religious subject. Dr. should also cleared this matter.

by SANPANBEL SSP on Jul 02, 2009 03:17 PM  | Hide replies

SCRAPING THE BOARD EXAM IS JUST LIKE SCRAPING THE HEAD OF A STUDENT. STUDENTS DO NOT STUDY SERIOUSLY TILL CLASS IX. THEY STUDY ONLY THERE IS PRESSURE. SO, REMOVING EXAM IS TUGHALAKI MOVE. NOTHING GOOD IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO STUDENTS.

Baba,

What do you think about yourself? Most intelligent guy on earth?

Tell me what good it is going to have for a student. Except that student will not have to bother about one examination and tension associated with it.

We have to analyse the pros anc cons of all decisions and conclude it merit. Scrapping of exams or grading system while on the one had reduces students burden, on the other, it also kills competition. If I am a bright student and getting anyting between 95 & 100% in all exam, why should I now put so much of efforts when I will be clubbed with someone who is getting 80 to 85% or 85% to 95%. We all come under the same category under grading system.
