scrapping off even class 12th exams
by prashant wadagbalkar on Nov 11, 2009 12:00 PM  | Hide replies

even class 12 th exams should also be scrapped off . as this also serves no purpose, those wish to become doctors, eng and all other carrers alreadyhave their entrance exams.
grading class 12 th exam will promote remaining majority students to pursue their hobbies , arts, sports carrers. , vocational courses better without stress.
see what is the outcome of normal percentage based class 12 student, a vulnerable depressed emotionally unstable persons who thinks that only high scoring students wd do well in life which is not true ,majority discover after some years after 12th that whatever they stressed as students is now irrrelevent,
many successfull persons in different walks of life are those who were persistent with their dreams ,
there are three types of students based on percentage base system , A B n C.
later in life many C students open big organisation in which A students work . while B students join govt service.
if surprised see around you , many buisness caste breeds like sindhi, punjabi , gujrati, marwari hire the most brilliant south indians , marathi , bengali, etc.
Let us educate our children that life doesnot end with class 10 or 12th result .what ever they do they should do with full dedication and zest .
dr prashant

scrap it, it's obsolete
by Guest on Aug 02, 2009 11:43 AM

what exactly is the point of the board exams is what we have to take into account. In an age when rote learning accounts for practically nothing, its ridiculous to keep resisting changes in the education system. In my opinion, the boards should be replaced with a comprehensive aptitude and interest test that will help to analyse a students abilities so that he/she is able to choose the right stream later.

CBSE X Board exams
by Ambalam Swamy on Jul 12, 2009 12:40 PM  | Hide replies

As we are not having exams for each year, nothing wrong in scrapping X exams, but make sure schools do not manipulate in admitting Xth students for XI th std. Already some schools, refuse to admit students for XIth although studied in the same school. Mr. Kapil just wants to avoid Xth board-exams, not the class tests and exams. Anyway, students will gleefully prepare themselves for their XIIth std from Xth std onwards if this gets scraped. Even the teachers and parents can cope with the students for the final exams of XIIth std.
Hope the future students-society come up intelligently rather than exam-feverish frequently.

I feel the classX board exams must not be scrapped,as this will ensue maximum manipulation of the classX results by the respective schools to popularise their schools. What I feel is rather than scrapping them, they must be modified,in that, exams must contain MCQ's and not merely descriptive questions, which will definitely arouse the interest of the students and will act as a pabulum.

Ask what you want first....
by Divya on Jul 08, 2009 10:52 AM

When we look back in the history of our society, we find very few brave people. The system should take care of creating brave citizens. Life is not just exam, but continues process to handle any possible situation.
Just for a moment put you’re self in the child shoe, if we create an environment stating it’s very difficult, but actually it may not be so for that child. In this case we will be helping India to have one more non brave child.
We should encourage competition, but in the right full way. This can be easily achieved by improving first our socity mideset.

Cheers,
Eshwar

class 10th examination
by ashish bang on Jul 04, 2009 03:55 PM

I am absolutely against the proposal of Mr. Sibal. I think the childrens are more serious in their school days whatever the reason. it must be either because of pressure or anything but they go through the subject seriously. What happened to 12th examinations, student usually read for competative examination seriously and not for the class 12th subject. Therefore one should not scrap the 10th examiniation

Scraping Exmas is not the solution..............
by Dilesh Pardhi on Jul 04, 2009 02:59 PM

I am absolutely not agreeing with what is proposed by Mr Sibal
If anybody thinks being educated and taking challenges increases stress then they should live stress free by not opting challenges.
Scrapping the exams doesn’t serve any purpose. Every student or parents wanted to know what is level of knowledge he or his son/daughter has? I think our HRD minister should think on increasing level of education, not deteriorating.
Scraping Exmas is not the solution but give moral education to reduce stress.

This would give teachers undue rights to spoil a kids performance
by Akanksha Gupta on Jul 03, 2009 04:26 PM  | Hide replies

I am sure that you are all aware of how some of malicious school teachers dont teach in the school and stress up their students to take tuitions from them themselves at home so that they get good marks in the school and at the same time there are many underperformers who are actively into the practice of bribing and getting out false marksheets contrary to their performance in the exam. I think removing a cetral control on the exams which is non-predjudiced is very necessary to curb such malpractices and let children lead a fear free academics where penultimate performance would be free from predjudices and would be done fairly. Also , this existing practice also differntiates clearly the academicians who study much beyond 10th .. from actors, sportsmen and other non-academic celebrities as they reach 10th with whatever means but aren't able to ever cross 10th ... leaving apart a few of such very successful celebreties.

sorry for the mis-wording in my last message . I want the central on exams and not want it to be removed to curb the burgeoning mal-practices of some school teachers of keeping their children in doubts and false inferiority complexes for not taking their tuitions and rediculed in the class and stay mediocre performers because of their teacher's wrong behaviour and malpractice and exploitation of the power she has to mould a child's future.

Should the Class X board exams be scrapped
by dorothy mascarenhas on Jul 02, 2009 04:39 PM

NO EXAMS SHOULD NOT BE SCRAPPED. The hype and tensions are created by the Government and parents. It is ridiculous to see the % that children have to obtain to get into any of the colleges. In our days we were most elated if we got 60% and 70% any more was the height of it. Todays children are parrots learning and vomitting it on the papers, but a few days later they don't know what they have studied, the result is SUICIDES because they are not able to cope with the realities of life. What we learnt as children is still being recollected by us in our 50's, 60's . The Government's and parents apathy today is going to be the failure of the country tomorrow. Its just a money making racket by most of the educational institutions that have mushroomed overnight and the Government is turning a blind eye to it, because most of their pockets are stuffed with money. The Government and the parents are taking away the children's childhood. If the Government is really serious about the future of the children, please go back to the old system of education, where a child enjoyed his/her childhood playing till he was 5 or 6 years old before he went to school. Another thing the Government should do is let children choose the subjects he can excel in after (an appittude test)the VII std. This way they will have less dropouts. Why force the child to take subjects he is not interested in? What happened to Prof. Yashpal's fact finding trip to the Gulf in the 80's?

Scrapping X Board Exam
by ramakrishna seetharaman on Jul 02, 2009 04:10 PM

It will be a foolish decision. SSLC/X/Matriculation Exams - all these are self-apprasisals of the students to streamline their future course of studies and they are Min Edu Qualificatiobs for certain jobs/courses.If these are scrapped, them 12 will become MEQ which poor people cannot afford to reach in the poresent situation
