Should the Class X board exams be scrapped
by Purushottam Singi on Jun 30, 2009 06:21 PM

We can not altogether do away with some kind of testing. In my opinion, instead of class X ,a child be asked to sit in a Board examination at end of Class VIII and then in class XII, to optfor higher studies.
All jobs should have a minimum qualification of Class VIII.
But Mr. Kapil Sibal's other reported suggestion of a single Board for whole of India is impractical.

We need to totally change our education system which was designed by British to create clerks. Read views of Mahatmaji and Vinobaji to get some good idea.

Let us follow Father of the Nation.

we must let live the children with and for their creativity.
by anupama pattnaik on Jun 30, 2009 06:01 PM

the move made by honourable minister has lit a slow flame in the mind.Being a student i know the benefits of liberalising a creative mind from the biggest shackle-the exams.a child must be judged by his/her creativity and reasoning ability.the tenth board not only traumatise the minds but also destroys the essential time which could otherwise be denoted for creativity.so we should step forward to let creativity and true knowledge prevail.

exams do not necessarily promote knowledge and intelligence.they distort education.
scrapping class x exams is very welcome.
our education system must graduate to fewer exams altogether.

Mr Sibal,

There is a lot of stress envolved in normal birth of a baby. Why don't you ban normal delivery, and only allow cesarean birth of baby.

No,it is absolutely ridiculous decision. In a country with so much diversity from habit to habitat, this decision cannot be welcomed.

Good idea for Mr. Sibal...
by Varun Rathi on Jun 30, 2009 05:33 PM

Mr Sibal,

This is a very good idea to coin an idea like this. The whole country is now debating about class 10th exam.
This way, a lot of your other duties as HRD minister is ignored by people. They are only busy in class 10th exam.
There are a lot of other more important things in improving our education system than making class 10 exam optional. But this idea is very easy to implement and getting much higher publicity and visibility. And thus more important in your political career.

Class X Exams to be scrapped ?
by omkarnath kamalapurkar on Jun 30, 2009 05:26 PM

It is absolutely a stupid idea. Sibal has no clear idea what he wants. No body thinks in the interest of students and parents have no choice but to send their wards to some school. What is the most important for the students is to understand what they learn not simply pass the exam and marks determine their merit and excellence. Only solution is that if exam system is delayed at least for the first 12 years of age of the child and introduce exams slowly and cumulative progress should determine the merit. It is slow process and no body is interested. Definitely not Mr. Sibal
