I prefer there should be enough digging before scraping it. What is the replacement strategy. How will you decide which group for whom ? Since selection of group is vital for the future of the student

Scrapping Exams is not a good Idea.

Dear friends, scrapping exams is not a good idea. This is like running away from responsibility. It can be rationalized. If regular exams are not conducted the students’ efficiency cannot be tested. Actually the pressure is created by parents and may be some schools also. If the exams are not conducted, how the admission is taken in XI class? Just removing exams would not solve the purpose. If the bottleneck is removed at one place again there will be a problem ahead. It is important to restore smooth flow. However, the following steps can be taken to improve the system.
1.      Improve infrastructure of the Schools and Colleges.
2.      Increase number of Plus Two colleges (Intermediate Colleges).
3.      Enhance number of seats in each college so that all students can get their desired stream or branch.
4.      Improve the quality of the teachers and allow them to undergo frequent training programs on latest trends in the subject and encourage them to enhance their Qualification.
5.      Revision of syllabus frequently.
6.      Modifying the Pattern of exams and removing partiality and nepotism in internal assessment of the students.
7.      The most important is the ratio of teacher and students. That is around 1:25 to 30.

Excellent performance of our Indian students throughout the world is just because of our time tested Indian education system at least up to XII standard. So, don’t dilute the system just by seeing American education system. That system is not useful for Indian system

scrapping 10th exam is not the solution
by Varun Rathi on Jun 30, 2009 12:36 PM  | Hide replies

Growing stress in students is certainly an issue that need to be addressed. But making 10th board exam optional is most certainly not the solution.

In the classes 9,10,11 and 12, students are taught really advanced and important subjects. But actually the students main goal is not the learning, but preparation and clearing the enrance exams for good further education.

I suggest that there should be a reservation in those entrance exams for students who have achieved exceptional marks in 8th or 10th board examinations.
This way the real good students will get the assurance for admission in class 8th or 10th only. And then they can focus on learning, instead of just getting ranks and various exams.

No to Class X Boards exams!

Bravo! What a great idea, and this is better late than never. It isn't any worth to see students writing Class 10 as board exams. One need not worry really, even if the question of regulating admissions into colleges after Class Xth exams comes up for discussion. The most important factor in abolishing the board exams is that students become unreasonably pathetic thinking about their Boards even as their overall results and confidence levels get to suffer.

Uniformity in the results will come to the fore. The school results will now vary from school to school and that, thankfully, will become a saving grace for school administrators everywhere. Children will become stern in their studies; at least they don't have to mangle their mind's peace thinking about the Boards and getting the goose bumps and jitters all the way to the exam hall!

Anomalies in the form of the various School Boards' initial reaction may come up for an intense debate but they can be stubbed out for every body's good. Let's do away with the Boards system now. I congratulate Mr. Sibal for thinking out of the box. Alas, the state governments of our country will be ready to take this up on a war footing as this would save them a lot of money and other pointless work relating to the preparation for the Boards every year; plus, in a way students and parents will never have to face those authorities who think that they have to constantly throw worthless hardships on the student's path!

At least, in some cases, their supposed high-handedness will die out for ever.
