The topic is regarding your appraisal. Don't worry about others as you wont be able to help them in any case. Are you happy or not answer that question.

Very well said. The situation in India is exactly what you have pointed out. There are a few companies having appraisal, still few ones having genuine appraisals. Most of the establishments have no appraisal system, staff are hired and fired at whims, no DA is paid, no minimum wages as per law is maintained, no social security benefits are extended, even the working conditions are so poor. But the people who work there continue to work there to earn their daily meal. A welfare state (so declares our country about itself) is expected to take care of all these issues. The reality is, in the name of law enforcing bodies, many lazy fellows are kept in government services, who never work and if at all they work that is only for bribe. Forget the parties, Congress, BJP or CPI / CPM all are the same. Unless the Government realises this, the country cannot progress.

Its finally demand vs supply that comes into picture. If you have skills that are in huge demand and the talent pool available is less you will get a good appraisal or else you will get peanuts. It's hardly anything to do with the performance.
I am working for well known company. But i have been realy shocked when saw the Appraisal Letter. It's really disappointing for me, because the appraisal is in the range of 8 to 10%. They are saying that as per market rate the your salary is high, but when i have shown them the market details they are really shocked, Once more thing is that the Market rate which i have shown to them is itself given by them (They have taken servy in India). Latter on i left that company, i was really disappointed because of that and then i have resigned from there. E
Friends, I have seen all appraisals being purely done on biased approach. That is it is either by top guy interfering with the selection/grading or boss himself poorly capable of making a appraisal a impartial exercise.
indian companies, generally have a apraisal scheme based on the last four months i.e dec, jan, feb and march, some times we poor employees dont get the required results and hence, the performance of even the last 8 months is forgotten. very few companies have a documented appraisal system were the business that you log in for the whole year automatically decides your own appraisal. thats the problem faced by all employees, and thats the advantage taken by employers. i demand that appraisals should be based on documented parameters and not on the whims of my boss. even if my boss were to resign in march and a new person takes over, my appraisal should not be effected as the system has documented my performance. as a employee i would like to ask my bosses for the documents they considered for not appraising me on time.and i am sure they have none. hence appraisal = documented parameters for the desired results. if our employeer dosent have this system we will always be the "left outs"
I work for a Multinational Engineering Consultancy. It has been my first year in the private sector after working in a PSU for 5 years. I have little idea about the appraisal rates of private sector companies. Anyway I have got an 18% raise this year and I would definitely like to know about the raises other companies give. My only concern is there was no consultation with the employee prior to the appraisal process like staff development plans and goals.
i work for a well know company ...recently my company merged with a multinational company.so ever body out here taught that this is appraisal would be good for every one.....
company make use work like dog do not pay use overtime and even we have to come on sunday to work but we dont get paid for that....
in today world a person working would require a minimum salary of 14000 a month to servive.
what can a person do with 8% , 10% and 12% increament. we should get increament according the work we do....
I would suggest appraisal, every one wants a better rating and all depends if your boss has good day b4 he rates u else the rating will always be bad,sad but true
In a recession, its a risk to change job. Also, Companmies cant offer good appraisals, since the businesses too are hit by this recession. The projections too, seem to be bleak. Not many can change job on will, one has to cope with the present job. The best thing is to accept the appraisal, and if dissatisfied, be on the lookout, for a better pay packet.
