Appraisallll???????????????
by shankar varma on May 19, 2008 02:42 PM  | Hide replies

Indian companies don't know the meaning of appraisal.Every employee working as an Cyber labor???..
They gives appraisal to those people who are doing cham chaa giri....and READY to lick the feet of the top-management??
Appraisal is just a formality to show that appraisal is done.Only few who are near and dear once they benifit from it and others are
left out .

Appraisal - UP Risal?
by Shyam on May 19, 2008 02:42 PM

Earlier I was in an International Research Institute where the top brass were foreigners (all Scientists) and support staff were Indians. I was in Accounts wing and my supervisor was the one like developing countries - keeps borrowing money from everyone (seldom returns) and when I did not oblige him, I got poor rating, though orally everybody in the top appreciated my services. When I went to resign the job, I was offered a growth of three stages!

And now, I am in a Central Government Autonomous Body. When I was under probation my supervisor tried in vain to make me corrupt, earn and share money with him. When I did not yield, I was about to be removed from services, but for my CEO who undid it all. I am in this Organisation for 14 years now, I, or anybody else, need do no work, no need to show progress, no plans, and can get my monthly pay, regular increments, everything in time. Only if I start suggesting improvements in work or question my boss that I will be immediately transferred to some remote place as punishment! So if you are in Central or State Government, you need not perform, no work, can earn in many ways, retire peacefully and get pension too. If you don't want to be corrupt, you be non-corrupt, atleast don't question others - superiors or subordinates! This is possible, perhaps, only in India.

MERA BHARAT MAHAAN!

appraisal... a mystery
by asim palasara on May 19, 2008 02:30 PM

appraisal shd be a mean appreciate their deeds to motivate & inspire employees to do better in future. but what happens is it is heavily driven by the company's yearly profit and their future strategies. if they want certain kind of professionals they wld gv u a gud hik, otherwise if ur domain is not promising for company, they wld simply make a mess out of ur appraisal.
---- this is da bare truth of Indian IT companies.

Hi Mahesh,
The minimum requirement to be eligible for appraisal is 6 months which is followed by majority of the companies.

I don't think your company has cheated you because no company revises or appraises an employee within 6 months of joining. May be you will have an appraisal meet after you complete your probation. Dont plan to quit for this reason.

Apprisals- Good Thing To Evaluate Yourself
by Amit Dusad on May 19, 2008 02:24 PM  | Hide replies

Normally appraisal mean increment in salary to most of the people. Well, if looked honestly at it; it comes with performance evaluation and how much you add value to your company.Appraisal is also a phase where we get a chance to have a talk with Management about our future plans, what are the areas we are looking at to focus.
Now coming back to major concern of most of the people..salary hikes. Salary hikes are totally dependant on your performance and Management's thinking about you. If Management feels you are a valued person and company needs you strongly in future, you will get good hike and as per expectations of you.
But if you are not getting enough hike, it is also true that Management has already thought of results of this. They are very much aware that if they do not give sufficient hike to employee, he/she may quit the company. So, in this case Management is prepared for that situation also. In other words, Management is ready to take risk of loosing you and your absense does not make much impact to the project.
So my friends, as per my experience goes, I have learnt that my performace and work should be so good that Management should not think of loosing me and thus should give the hike which is according to market standards. Once you get hike and package equal compared to market standards, you will be happy.
