Sorry to say so but you need to see the real picture, and what happens in real life. Over delivering on performance is seldom a reason for rewards, recognition and a fair treatment. The truth is that you need to have three great attributes. 1) To do the bidding of your boss 2) Allow your boss to take credit for what you have done leave aside, he being totally ignorant and insecure. 3) Lick Lick Lick and if you have a tongue left and still no self respect lick a little harder.

i got a 25% hike this year. is it good with an IT sector point of view. I was expecting a 40% though. Pl tell me. I am confused.

What appraisal???? Indian companies dnt know the meaning of appraisal. Every employ working as an labor???.. They gives appraisal to those people who are doing cham chaa gri....??

There is no goal or direction and appraisal is ment for just formality and to show to top mgmt that appraisal is done.

Only few who are near and dear once they benifit from it and others are left out for hareshment....

Rediff also mention that are you preparing some kind of statistics for the companies and there apprasial policies...??? Also, mention that what are you gaining by asking the comments. Would you be providing people with some report or some kind of help on how to improve the apprasial. Or you are trying to do a social service by seeing how many people did not get appraisal and you would give them appraisal. Just post your comments on the messageboard. I would love to read your comments on this.

I m working in India's number one undergarment company in IT department. But the sorry part of this is that here the management itself dont know what is IT department & hence there is big (?) for appraisal. Even some are comparing it with call center or person who repairs pc ??!!!!

It is so when you are not in your own zone. When everybody talks garments and you talk something unknown to them, this situation is just expected. You can only convince your boss to whom it matters on what you are doing to benefit the Company. So make him understand how much he has benefited by your efforts - make it analytically with simple wording and examples for layman to understand. Also remember, when everybody is IT you are just one among many and the situation is no better there either! Everybody's understanding would not help you anyway.

I am very happy even if my company does not give me any hike. My good work was always recognized well and I will not feel sad even though they dont give me a hike given the market is so bad.

Job with not any facility besides salary

I am working with a meida company but there is not any PF/ESI BOnus etc. thwy are not gining salary slip, appointment letter , etc.. they have more then 50 employee but not showing in one company, they have registered firm but saving alot of tex from govt.

I got a very disappointing appraisal this year.
My manager told me that due to appreciation of
indian currency this year 6% is accoladed for you....

I asked him ,well for this time I am remain salient,now can you give me assurance that if US $ gets appreciation again ,may I expect one more corrected appraisal ?

Anyway my mamanger remain silent.
