CONTROL POPULATION INFLUX TO BIG CITIES.
by beegeeaar on Aug 22, 2006 02:53 PM

CONTROL POPULATION INFLUX TO BIG CITIES :
=======================================

there are so many reasons for the population to move to cities and big towns.the first and foremost reason for this is availability of job opportunities in big cities. in big cities the population is dense and further there will always be a floating population which contribute to good business.
the existence of many industries, factories and companies all these contribute to the attraction of population from the rural areas.
Another factor is the availability of various amenities that helps to live a higher standard of life. Particularly the educated young people are attracted to big cities where they can expect good employment opportunities for their educational qualifications.

What is the remedy for this ? the only remedy is to create job opportunities in rurall areas by starting new industries. We can stop the moverment of population if employment is easily available in villages and rural areas. Unless this aspect is given the attention it deserves, the future in big cities will be bleak. Not only starting of new industries but also provision of various amenities which are now available in the cities, will go a long way in solving the influx of people to big cities.

CORRUPTION
by beegeeaar on Aug 21, 2006 04:59 PM

FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION :

Yes corruption is everywhere and everyone is a prey to corruption. we can say that there is no area or department which is not pervaded by this malady. corruption is most rampant only in governmental departments and the politicians or authorities concerned are least bothered about it. they conveniently forget to address this issue eventhough we have spent six decades after our independence.

The main issue is that corruption not only delays execution of developmental works but also affects the morale of the people.
it is a known fact that one cannot get his work done unless he grease the palm of the concerned official. enacting of any number of laws will not free the people from the clutches of corruption but the transformation brought about in the minds of the officials with the spread of education alone will solve the problem.. if any serious attention had been given to this problem, it would have been solved long ago, but one has to doubt whether persons responsible like to
treat this malady at all.

Let us not give up hope, after all man has to live on HOPE.

DOES YOUR BOSS LISTEN TO YOU ?
by beegeeaar on Aug 20, 2006 11:00 AM

DOES YOUR BOSS LISTEN TO YOU ?

WE have to understand that we cannot straight away throw the blame on the boss in general. whether a boss in an organisations listens patiently or not depends on several factors.

The boss or the head of a department is under many pressures both from his head office and the public and he may be expected tobe under pressure or tension always. in such a situation when a subordinate approaches him with some doubts relating to his work
the immediate response may not always be pleasant or satisfactory.
we cannot judge him based on one instance.
My experience , as a retired officer, is that a person occupying the chair of the boss, if he is really interested in the growth or development of his organisation, will not behave in a way which will hamper the smooth running of the office.

A person, it is to be understood, is not in one mood and he is in different moods at different times. I have experience that if an emplyee approaches his boss when he is in good temperament, definitely he gets want he wants.

Just like there are good people and bad people, there are good bosses also.

does your boss listen to you.

DOES YOUR BOSS LISTEN TO YOU :

HI SHEILA,

IN any organisation, it is very important that the employee working under a boss should right from the beginning try to earn the attention of the boss. by performing a few things your boss expected to do you can win his attention to your side. moreover if you commit any small mistake right from the beginning your boss will form some wrong opinion about you and then it is very difficult to erase this impression. one should always know that to earn a good name is always an uphil task and one should be confident of achieving this.

suggestion to sheila question
by Deepak on Aug 13, 2006 05:44 PM

Hi sheila,

I think you need to speak to Your Boss directly and clear his misunderstanding, Or else exctute an idea from start to end show the results which can bulid hos confidence.

In both the cases you are trying to show you want to learn and require oppurtunity to prove your self.

If this purpose is not satisfied then you can look out for an opputunity.

Does your Boss Listen to you.
by Shankar Iyer on Aug 06, 2006 05:20 AM

Dear Shiela,
Please analyse first wether your Boss "NEVER listens to you" OR only that only "SOMETIMES he doesn't listen to you"..

This is extremely important to have you and your Boss on the same and good frequency. In most of the time if you DO NOT have a good equation with your Boss then in all probability .." He will never listen to you.."
Also find out wether, if your Boss is listening to your contemporary's suggestion, even though you have advised him of the non feasibilty of the suggestion. If THIS IS the case, then you should get a transfer under some other Boss who is more practical and unbiased.
But before taking such a step please look into the following..
1) Your suggestions which when implemented have not worked out?
2)Have you rediculed you Boss in front of "his Boss" in any presentation..saying.."I informed my Boss but he never listened..!!"
3)Have you NOT tried to make a good impression with your Boss's Boss during your brief meeting with him..?
4)Have you NOT been able to convince your Boss on certain aspects with data..?
If answers to the above is YES, then try to rectify yourself, or wait for a new Boss or you find a new Boss..!

Projecting your Ideas before your Boss
by leon_baker on Aug 02, 2006 11:17 PM

I would suggest that sheila, first spends time on educating her boss on the existing challenges. It's alike telemarketing or selling of a concept:

"Set the stage" - Ask for a brainstorming session (these suggestions are non threatening , especially if the boss is an non-listener/locked to ideas)

"List out deliverables" that the boss would like to achieve in this brainstorming session.

Then present the idea - I use the world "present" and not "Tell" , it is key that the mapping out of how the idea meets the deliverables her boss expects, is clearly defined.

Then last - ask for advice/suggestions - again a non- threating way of getting the feedback on the Idea.

If this doesn't work, then, i suggest that Sheila should Job post to another department or organization, if frustrations levels increase.

What should sheila do
by Jatinder on Aug 02, 2006 09:26 PM

Dear Shiela, I think it is important to understand why the boss is behaving in the particular manner. It is because you interrupt him often in the middle of his conversation with your ideas, it is because you disagree with him quite often in front of others, is it your tone and tenor of speaking that upsets him,is it the casual body language that you project that he does not take you seriously, are you relatively new in your job and he feels you have not yet settled down to speak with authority or is that the age difference or work experience very little between the two of you and he feels you would overshadow him in case your suggestions are implemented.the reasons could be one of these or a combination of these. Does he single you out only for this kind of treatment or is it his general behaviour with everyone. I recommend that you ask for a private interview with him and tell him that you get upset with his behaviour and it affects your productivity. project the case as logically and firmly as you can and tell yourself that you will not get upset with his response. See what is the outcome. all the best.
