The question is will it change the lot of dalits? No ... though some superrich dalits might score browny points
Fact is still the primary education standard of govt schools is pathetic, and most deserving but poor dalits cant come up because they cant even get a good basic education vital for further advancement
The Advanced education like engg medicine etc is slowly becoming political fiefdom with the growth of pvt universities that get govt permissions and are run by politicians or family, and there is such a shortage for good advanced education that only rich can afford it in countries like us, australia and europe

Verdict there is no presidential election like in USA HE is spine less and there is no doubt abt it MMS may be good person but he dont deserve PM seat . Sonia/ rahul are more deserving
By electing Ms Meera Kumar as the next Lok Sabha Speaker, the Congress may score a few political points. But that will not take the party forward, if it does not match their symbolic gestures with credible action to improve the lot of the Dalits who are still ill treated in the rural areas of India. I think it is important to ensure propotionate representation of all communities - not only Dalits - is a must in a country like India where Caste and creed continues to play an important role in socio-political matters. It is also equally important for the Dalit leadership to shed its misplaced anti-high Caste mentality in order to move ahead in progress and development.

Look, For how long are the politicioans going to play "CASTE/RELEGION/STATE CARD"!!! It's high time to interospect!!..wE GOT INDEPENDENCE IN 1947..Formed reservation policies to uplift the backwards..the result is, a wide gap between the rich and the poor irrespective of caste , relegion and region. Our power hungry politicians are following the footstep of devide and rule - The same that was used by the Britishers. Let us all come up and ask these power hungry people to formulate a policy to uplift the poor & Backward irrespective of Caste, relegion and region and usher India to a Better Future.
