the author-rs-is an intellectual and therefore -by instinct-a contrarian. but even then his views are too much to digest.look at the corrupt-to-the bone and criminal regional leaders.they were all waiting like hungry wolves for a hung parliament.now they are rushing to lick the feet of the dynasty.if upa did not get the mandate ,would these gangs of wolves would have been better for india? most agree that congressmen are not angels. but still there has to be a government.the dynasty and the sychophants know that. so should we.
Re: beggers cant be choosers

What he is saying is both the pack of wolves as well as the biggest con-men in power are both bad.
Why does rediff give space to such specimens who represent vitriol and hate. People of India have conclusively rejected these people. They refuse to crawl back into their woodwork even after the hiding they have taken. It is an extreme case of sour grapes.

You may have readied the woodwork for the coffin.Yes the Carpenter. Rest assured the ides of vote had come but not gone. Excellent play of the old divide and rule. Paid sepoys against the grain of the soil.Hindustan will have to face the devil again.

Well... i belong to TN and i can vouch for the kind of hatred people here had towards both centre and state but it seems their minds have got changed just about in the polling booth.. Well.. enough reasons to distrust EVMs
Re: So elections are rigged
by Varun on May 18, 2009 10:31 AM
The EVM's being faulty is a contentious issue that has been brewing in US for a long time. I know you live in idealist world, but without a paper trace, these machines can be fixed.

Sta, I wish at least now you guys stop using this typical BJP style language.
This is a great encouragement for foreign invaders to take over the nation. Long live the Chines/ Taliban - I see another war in 2-3 years ...mark my message..
Re: Rigged Elections
by Varun on May 18, 2009 10:32 AM
Did accusations of elections being rigged during bush's second tenure end up in US being invaded ?. Your logic dosen't fly.
This is about the quality of RS's writing, not about his viciousness. Here is a usual middle school essay with all those clichés and stolen metaphors...
"Imperial over reach", "collective suicide", "Cassandra-like warnings", "walking wounded", "form, not substance", "intrusive government", "native genius", "waning power", "Vassal state", "craven behavior", "opaque manner", "rammed through"... etc. I have only gone through half the article and there it is.
I think RS has collected all these usages from various sources and then stringed them together with his foolish ideas. What is obvious is the lack of originality and ability to write reasonably well. I am not convinced he is an IIT graduate as he claims to be. He may be, but it does not show. IITians I know are intelligent and very articulate. and do not write utter rubbish like this in tedious, bad language.
Re: Quality of his writing?
by Concerned on May 17, 2009 11:06 PM
@devadatta mere bhai
I agree with you, but I disagree with you about IIT'ians.
Please for heavens sake dont assume all IIT'ians are good or that those who are not in IIT are bad. I can tell you from my won family.....that graduated from places like MIT, UC, Caltech.....none of them were from IIT....infact they didnt even write the JEE. On the other hand I know of a few IIT'ans who fared much worser than I did:). So I know that generalisation to be wrong.
As for RS, he is from IIT - his writings may not support that.
There is just hard work buddy nothing else....IIT or no IIT.
Re: Quality of his writing?

Wow what a theory. every writer uses metaphors to embellish the writing. As for the idea of the paragraph, since you dont subscribe to it, it must be bad right ?. funny bunch.

Poor Bhaumik. The guy is using big words that you don't know? Don't worry, just buy a dictionary.
Re: Re: Re: Quality of his writing?
by Devadatta Bhaumik on May 18, 2009 02:50 AM
.. that's the hallmark of bad, unoriginal writing: using 'big' words.
But these are not big words anyway. They are hackneyed phrases/ ideas unoriginal writers who lack real writing skills often use to make it sound good.

Stop the presses! Devadatta Bhaumik has made a major discovery! RS uses words such as "a", "the", "for", "india", "they", "an", "will", "eye" etc. Therefore he should be prosecuted. Actually he should be prosecuted just because Devadatta Bhaumik does not like him.

Bhaumik, when I see how your own comment was written, it looks to me like you need some basic writing lessons yourself. A fellow like you who can't do arithmetic is then trying to criticize lectures on integral calculus. Pathetic.
Why does rediff has to post articles like this from a person who is trying to exceed his own stupidity? Here is a guy who sees everything good in RSS and its lackeys and everything wrong in its opponents. But alas you cannot do anything against the peoples' mandate.
Re: Why???
by Concerned on May 17, 2009 10:45 PM
@Mumtaz
What do you mean we can't do anything against the peoples mandate?
We have been training very hard for this occasion. Wait and watch. We have penetrated all shakhas and will convince Indians that the elections have been rigged. We do it in steps.
1. Online - As you can see rediff boards where only Phd's hang out by the way.........we are slowly convincing people that the elections were rigged.
2. Dharnas - We are confabulating with our parivar about this. Will update in a few.
Re: Re: Why???
by giveanid on May 18, 2009 10:25 AM
oops! Sorry Concerned, I failed to read your previous post, and so missed the sarcasm (coz 'dharna' was mentioned. 'Online' would have been enough.)
Re: Re: Why???
by giveanid on May 18, 2009 10:22 AM
hahahahahaha. I like when I see the online tigers frustrated. Okay PHD saheb. Let us know when the steps are finished. All you guys (yes all 16 of you) can do is cry on each other's shoulders. Rajeev Srinivasan has always been a joker with his funny and invariably wrong predictions, and by this article he has promoted himself to joke from joker.
The last time you had some different reasons for NDA's loss, they were tolerable. This time you have crossed the limits of imagination. Your analysis can be ridiculed point by point. But I am not an Analyst! SI will do it for you. I still remind my hindu friends about your stup1d comment when the Tsunami occured in 2004. If any smart guy wants to know about it , search it on rediff for this Viceguy's article after tsunami. You wouldnt want to read his articles again!
This time we had voters who are more sensible than the last time. This is the youth vote. Yes , it spoils the plans of you oldies , but never mind.
Finally, if the EVMs were rigged in Cong ruled states then it can be said the same about the BJP ruled states too. Clean sweep in Chhatisgarh, Karnataka ??
Of course you belong to the over intelligent class.(the ones who dont look beyond their noses!)
Re: Summer of your discontent - Part ii
by STA BHATT on May 18, 2009 02:30 AM
Its easy to understand .. they were rigged in UPA ruled states but not BJP ruled ones ...
Are all mussies dumb or just they pretend to be dumb ?
Re: Re: Summer of your discontent - Part ii
by giveanid on May 18, 2009 10:28 AM
It is even more easier to understand! It was rigged where Congress candidates won, not other places.
Re: Who voted for BJP in Elections?
by Varun on May 18, 2009 10:37 AM
Who voted for UPA. * Muslims who are ordered by their mullahs to vote for con-men * Xtians who are ordered by their church. SC/ST and upper cast hindus who think UPA stands for secularism.

With reference to bigots, there certainly are those with a dog in the manger attitude who have the gall to assume that India = whatever party they belong to, or support, or are a fan of and think of general dismemberment and breakup just because their party was given a kick on the butt by the people of India. Srinivasan never amused me but I must admit that I am amused by the likes of certain "USC" (ha!) types. There is a certain Captain as well who sounds amusing and should take over from Srinivasan. The people of India have decided what's best for them, though this does not mean that they have given a carte blanche to the next government but it certainly means that either BJP with leaders like murderer Modi should either learn to be a constructive opposition party or disappear.

New York, when it comes to religious bigotry, Islam is the ultimate expression of bigotry. Caste-baiting is racism promoted by the Left and the Islamists, who have long cavorted with each other. Certainly, your Shylock-baiting against "upper castes" is an example of this. Innocent illiterate people are most often targeted by the Left for seduction.
