''New York'': You're Communal
by san man on May 18, 2009 01:16 PM  | Hide replies

To the posting calling himself "New York":

You're the one who's communal here. You and your fellow co-religionists, who have made themselves into vote banks.

You're NOT SECULAR. You're sectarian. You're communal. You can keep lying fast and furiously, but that doesn't change the reality of it.

If you don't support Uniform Civil Code, you're communal and sectarian. You're certainly not secular.

Dude, why do you assume that if you do support the uniform civil code, you have to be die hard BJP fan? I support the idea of the uniform civil code but actually support Congress - more often than not. Why? Because among the various things challenging India that need to be resolved, in my mind the lack of a uniform civil code is important but not critical. Other things take priority.

Get it? Of course, you don't but I had to try.

Good Article
by Anthony Braganza on May 18, 2009 01:13 PM

Just because the coongrss came to power despite a total lack of performance does not mean that they did things right. There are enough reasons to suspect EVM fraud but it is unlikely that any enquiry will ever be made into it.
Rajeev has documented all the reasons why the UPA has failed thoroughly. This should be the takeaway. We can only hope and pray that the country prospers despite the presence of venal, dishonest, incompetent and corrupt governance. Miracles have been known to happen! Hopefully we are at the beginning of an upward cycle rather than at the middle of a downward one.

Water
BJP
by Water on May 18, 2009 12:41 PM  | Hide replies

A Party like BJP has no future because in India only Secular Parties can expect their future. People of this country want to keep its secular status because a multi-religious and multi-culturral society we can not give the chance to religious hatred and cannot devided the people on this basis. From this election people of this country sent a strong message to BJP this is a Secular Country and remain secular. BJP tried their best to devide the people through Varun's drama, and Ram mandir slogans, Money in Swiss Bank, weak Priminister, Dr Singh a puppet of Sonia, and also communalise the Malegaon issue for political gain, aslo tried Mumbai terrorist attack to communalise.
People rejected all BJP's propoganda and bad agebda and given a good verdict to Congress and UPA for their progress and prosparity.
Mr. Advani made a big mistake he only spent his time to accusing Dr Singh and his party rather than development agenda and employment projects to young people. People want to hear develpment, prosparity, and stability not accusations or inability of one government. As per my knowledge Mr.Advani was not a suitable candidate for PM. Now good bye to Advani.

But the VOTE BANKS ARE NOT SECULAR!
Those who aren't secular are hijacking the terms of debate by pre-emptively declaring themselves secular, when they're not. They're falsely accusing others of being communal, but the Congress and its vote banks are the ones who are communal.

If you don't support Uniform Civil Code, then you're communal, by definition. You're sectarian, not secular, and all the lying in the world won't change that underlying reality.

Rediff, how can you give such a person space?
by mathew jacob on May 18, 2009 11:59 AM  | Hide replies

Rediff, why do you stoop so low as to give a scumbag like Rajeev space to write such irrational garbage? He's rabid with his right wing ideology and is frothing at the mouth. Why do you tarnish your site's image by giving him space?Don't you at least verify the credentials of your contributors? This guy is a management consultant, or so he claims and what exactly does he know about how EVM's work? After the BJP lost,he's lost his head and is not in a position to think rationally.Let's take it all the EVM's were programmed to ensure the Congress wins.Well, this would involve the manufacturer, the guys who did the job, polling agents and a whole lot of people. How come so many people keep their mouths shut? And Professor Rajeev is one guy who left India after getting a degree from the IIT and lives in San Francisco. He has not given back to his country what he took from it,but preaches what others should do.Why do you give such a person space?Rediff,if you want intelligent people to keep coming back to your site, keep such nuts out of your columns.Such garbage is in poor taste and affects your image.

Very amusing, the part about intelligent people. From you rants, it is not clear if you would recognize intelligent people if you ever saw any even by accident.

Rajiv, It is quite sad that you always end up in the loosing side. You were against Obama, but he won. You want your favorite party to win, but did not materialize. But, quoting decline of India and EVM magic all reflect your character and mind. At least, learn to accept your defeat. If you and BJP are going analyze results in this way, you are not going improve. There is not a single line in this article which finds reasons for the defeat. Well! your friend Shashi Tharoor have won. Is that also EVM magic ?

Why EVM fraud in 2009 only? Why not in 2004 and before and in various assembly elections? BJP won with a thumping majority in Gujarat. Why did not congress indulge in an EVM fraud there? So, the conjecture is if BJP and its allies wins, it is fare enough especially for people like Rajiv Srinivasan. But when UPA wins, EVM fraud happens. Think sensibly. This is not "THE LAST" elections in India. So you might have to eat up your words later. I agree that, an alternative measure should be adopted along with EVMS to convince people like you.

And regarding Shashi's win, he is the best candidate in the fray. Moreover, his opposition candidate is from CPI and the CPM cadres ditched him. CPI now officially stated this. And a host of local issues which played against left all over Kerala. In Kerala congress led UDF won 16 out of 20. So general wave is for UDF. At least in Kerala, people are really fed with the left especially CPM.

the author-rs-is an intellectual and therefore -by instinct-a contrarian. but even then his views are too much to digest.look at the corrupt-to-the bone and criminal regional leaders.they were all waiting like hungry wolves for a hung parliament.now they are rushing to lick the feet of the dynasty.if upa did not get the mandate ,would these gangs of wolves would have been better for india? most agree that congressmen are not angels. but still there has to be a government.the dynasty and the sychophants know that. so should we.
