It seems th author has not seen properly the election result. In Karnataka, BJP is in top most by gaining 18 seats right now. It is not so correct that Manmohan Singh has effectively managed the 5 year in his rule. The Congress victory might be fault of other regional parties. However, it is good that one National party has got more seat. Otherwise regional parties might have black mailed the national party. This regional cannot become the King maker. Author is correct that public have voted for stability. 2 days back, regional parties have thought to black mail either Congress or BJP. But today they have disappointed. - Salian

Talibans have no place in Indian elections you can only be there is Pak. Advani may not become PM, but Modi will definitely become PM.
A lesson in true democracy for us Indians today. It is heartening today that the 57% of us voters have rejected people who willfully mailgn others. There is young blood in Congress and I am sure if their heads are not swollen( with this verdict) they will work for We the People of India. :Good luck Congress.,

Indeed, very few BJP supporters today. Which tells us that among the educated people (because it is unlikely illiterates are visiting Rediff), BJP is preferred choice.
That's the irony. The Congress won despite educated people voting agaisnt it. It happens. Hasn't Adolf Hilter won on the strength of the vote of the less educated Germans?

This is exactly how the BJP's mind works and this squarely explains why BJP lost the current elections. Just because you have unaccounted money, do you think, any one and his/her conscience can be bought over ?.

Advani was arrested in 1992, after Babri Masjid. BJP came to power roughly 5 years later.
Christian fundamentalists believe that for Christianity to spread, it must be "persecuted". Likewise, perhaps BJP will do better if it is targetted. :-)
his general election saw delimited constituencies, first time since independence, carved on caste and vote bank politics, no wonder congress was the ruling party that delimited. Re-engineered constituents saw their names missing from electoral rolls, or went to booths where they were not listed. Also how closely electoral rolls and names in NREGS (the rural employment scheme) match is for all to see.lil wonder, Navin Chawla was retained at the cost of Constitutional propriety. Close analysis of new voters, missing voters and poll percentages will tell this truth.
