by Parichay on May 11, 2009 02:43 PM  | Hide replies

West Bengal has the third largest economy (2003–2004) in India, with a net state domestic product of US$ 21.5 billion.[34] During 2001–2002, the state's average SDP was more than 7.8% — outperforming the National GDP Growth.[35] The state has promoted foreign direct investment, which has mostly come in the software and electronics fields;[34] Kolkata is becoming a major hub for the Information technology (IT) industry. Owing to the boom in Kolkata's and the overall state's economy, West Bengal is now the third fastest growing economy in the country.[36] However, the rapid industrialisation process has given rise to debate over land acquisition for industry in this agrarian state.[37] NASSCOM–Gartner ranks West Bengal power infrastructure the best in the country.[38] West Bengals state domestic product (SDP) grew in 2004 with 12.7 % and in 2005 with 11.0 % .[39]

Once again, Parichay, update yourself. Do you really agree with the Nasscom-Gartner rank of WB power infrastructure? If you live in WB you'll know the unscheduled power-cuts for long hours. It's almost similar to capital punishment to live in Kolkata during the summer becoz of these power cuts. And poor examinees face the max problem. Even before the Madhyamik exams this year, two units failed resulting in long uts. If you go to other cities like Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Mumbai etc. the power cuts are for certain hours in a day and scheduled. Everyone knows what time there will be a power cut and for how long. Total power cut in a day ranges from 30min to 3 hrs. Can you compare this to WB?
Also the SDP figures are farcical with major portion of the growth coming from agriculture. Please read the data in totality. Please don't blindly copy paste from Wikipedia. Agree that WB has the 3rd largest economy b'coz majority of the ppl belong to the middle class. The IT dream is fading away with WIPRO & Infosys stopping future investments in WB becoz of poor infrastructure & unscheduled bandhs.
WB has promoted FDI but only post 2006. That too only Buddhadev & Nirupam Sen are promoting FDI. Others in the party are yet to mature to the reality of FDI requirement for WB.
Just try to set-up a new industry in Haldia and see the instruction from your own party office and the reality will hit you like a bullet.

CPM will lose
by manoj on May 11, 2009 02:40 PM  | Hide replies

CPMs industrialization policy:
Threaten poor MULSIM farmers and grab land.
If farmers dont agree, kill farmers, and grab land.
Sell to capitalists, and enjoy the profit.

In Bengal, Mulsims are 25% of population, and CPM ensured that Mulsims get only 1% of the jobs in the goverment.

Sorry boss, no other party does this...
Mulsims are going to teach CPM a very bitter lesson in this election.

Other reasons:
2. Left alliance partners CPI, RSP, and FB are angry against CPMs big brother fascist attitude, and
they are against forcible land grabbing.
3. Left supporters are angry with Left parties for supporting Congress for 4 years.
4. Congress-TMC alliance are conslidating anti-Left votes.

Dear Manoj allow me to correct few figures

1. The muslim population in WB is 28% and not 25%

2. Muslims hold 24.5% of cultivable land in West Bengal (as on Dec 2008)

3. Prior to land reforms initiated by the left Muslims held 12.3% of the cultivable land and were 21% of the population.

Finally, please wake up. The rest of the world is marching ahead at jet speed. WB need to march ahead too and catch up.

Bengal never hates…we know only to love
by Parichay on May 11, 2009 01:51 PM  | Hide replies

No one went to Bengal has ever been hated cause he/she is from other place.
No one went to Bengal has ever been threatened cause he/she is from other place.

No one went to Bengal has ever been pressurized to learn Bengali…..we Bengalis try to communicate with people in their language……you laugh at our Hindi but we still keep trying…….never asking you to speak in Bengali.

We never chant “Jai Bengla” ….. it is synonymous to an eye infection (conjunctivitis) in Bengal…..when ever we say “jai”……we say “Jai Hind”.

We never chanted “Jai Maa Kali” or “Jai Maa Durga” in Eden Gardens…..like some chants “Ganpati…..”.

So many Bihari brothers/sisters are living there, so many Gujju, Marwari business man having business there but no one has to face any issue for not being Bengali.

Here students collect fund to celebrate Iftar Party, Saraswati Puja.
Here no one ever been disrespected for their religious belief.
We had thrown caste away from our life.

We believe in freedom, we believe in equality.

We welcome Maradona we over crowed our stadiums.
4 lacs people were there to show their love for a non-Indian.

We are no so materialistic, we are cheerfully chaotic…….we know to love.

You find us fool……..so we are……..we are proud to be so…….we are proud to continue our legacy of being Indian first……Jai Hind.

"The state's GDP stands at no 18 out of 28 states, the school dropout rate is 78 per cent (below Bihar, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Sikkim), primary education is the third lowest out of the 35 states and Union territories, only 28 per cent of the population has access to potable drinking water (compared to 78.4 per cent in Maharashtra and 84.2 per cent in Tamil Nadu), infant mortality is in the front ranks (although female foeticide is at the bottom), there are 77.2 lakh unemployed people in the state, while 55,000 small and medium industries have closed down."

look mr. Bheja , every one of us now polarized, specially in WB. Some very very serious issues have caused it. Now either I am CPM or I am TC in thsi state. And we are not going to hear our against parties. This is fact. I salute WB ppl that they have raised very seroius points about SEZ etc issues for that practically DELHI is going to re-think again.

And we sholud have national debet on this issues. As your statistics there are several statistics that goes against TC in state level and CONG against National Level.

Just an example : Do you Know SOMEN MITRA has land in SINGUR? He procured the land during TATA came to SINGUR ,BENGAL. That Fellow is fighting against LF with the symbol of TC in this election. I want to know why ----

a. MAMATA gave ticket to him in this election?

b. The Land that has been purchased by him ... is not a fertile one?????????

c. he purchased the land?

Last lok sabha poll voting % in Bengal was 73.
This election in two phases it is 75%...we are the most politically aware and active people.
The question is what is devlopment.....is making Ambanis richer development?
