Humble plea to Congress Pls do not divide the nation further
by balaji on May 08, 2009 12:31 PM

Latest in the series of controversies centred on the Congress party’s fixation with Muslim grievances is the data collection exercise involving the Indian Armed Forces.
It is irrelevant and mischievous to mention about caste-based divisions in the Army during the British rule.
Congress leaders not only divided the country politically but also militarily. The military officers and men of pre-independence India , belonging to all communities fought the WWII together under the British.

Pakistan got a ready-made army at its birth. When Indian Muslims got Pakistan they also got a Muslim army carved out of the undivided Indian Army. This army produced Pakistani generals and officers who fought wars with India — the first full scale war being in 1965. This is history in living memory.

The Congress party having divided and ruled the country for decades is continuing with its dangerous game and monstrous thinking of doing a head count for the Army now.

SUBHASH KASHYAP IS ONLY PARTIALLY RIGHT!
by Kabeer on May 08, 2009 11:50 AM  | Hide replies

Mr.Subhash Kashyap is only partially right!

What is defined in the Indian Constitution is that the President can invite any person who can form a Government that has the trust of the house.

The points like, Single Largest Party, Pre-poll alliance and Post-poll alliance are only derivatives of that point of Indian constitution. These points are not defined anywhere.

At least the word Party has been defined but the word Pre-poll alliance, for that matter any Alliance was not defined anywhere.

Inviting the leader of the single largest party or a pre-poll alliance is only a matter of convention.

Prepoll alliance or post poll alliance are equally acceptable.

It is not the President's prerogative or duty or an obligation to sit on moral judgment on the issue of whether the post poll alliance partners have fought against each other.

In the first place the word Alliance is not enshrined anywhere and neither the President nor the Election Commission is not informed through any formal communication that the pre-poll alliance or a Post-poll alliance has been formed. It is purely a tacit understanding among parties contesting. Prepoll alliance has the same level of sanctity as a postpoll alliance.

If the Govt loses the trust of the House in a very short time of installation, as it happened with Vajpayee Govt, then it reflects poorly on the judgment and wisdom the President in inviting even the Single largest party as it happened with BJP then.

Kashyp is BJPian

Kashyap has clearly mentioned that single largest party & pre-poll alliances are NOT from our constitution but from Sarkaria commission & National commission on working of the constitution 2002.

His arguement is perfectly valid when he refers to Post-Poll alliances as mechanism to cheat public.Post-poll alliances should be banned as these lead to opportunistic politics and horse-trading.What about the sentiments of the common man who believed in the rhetoric of candidates fighting each other only to find them joining hands & what not after the elections for the sake of power.
My prediction is that Congess is going to lose this time & they know it now but it will not bring any relief to public as our economy is in a mess & most of the things are artificially controlled by the ruling party and after elections scenario is going to turn from bad to worse only, more losses from corporates and more job losses. I can see the impact of slowdown in all economic activities.Growth is stalled.

BJP is also uncertain about the outcome of the elections & is troubled by its own internal rifts with all stalwarts having massive ego problems added to it the diffculty of handling a big alliance without George & Atalji is going to be a big challenge. I shiver at the thought of Mayavati becoming PM some day, more Tughlaq style mis management of affairs

By stating "Prepoll alliance has the same level of sanctity as a postpoll alliance" Mr. Kabeer has shown that either he is ignorant of what happens in this country or his sanity is questionable when he sees sanctity in post-poll alliance of parties who have just fought against wach other with contradictory manifestos....

some spin coming our way
by Bulls Eye on May 08, 2009 11:45 AM  | Hide replies

Today the TOI too has carried the same article. I am afraid that we are in for some kind of spin theory after May 16, 2009.
Congress appointed President will call in Congress to form the government quoting the same reasons "THAT BJP DOES NOT HAVE CANDIDATES WHO ARE CAPABLE OF RUNNING THE GOVERNMENT".
Just wait and see, no wonder Congress and their supporters are very cocky in spite of the impending defeat.
To murder the constitution is the birth right of the Congress party.

Congress is always big spin masters.
1) Remember Bihar elections, when Nitish Kumar was denied Chief Minister seat by the Congress appointed Governor.
2) Jharkhand elections - They played the same game.
3) They tried to play the same game in Karnataka. They postponed the polls indefinitely knowing well that they will lose the elections if held immediately. Ultimately, people of Karanataka taught them the lessons.

There are so many instances to quote like this. I am sure, that they would play the same game again. That is the reason why they appointed Praibha Patil as the President.

Who said congress secular? All parties are favouring some caste or religion for votes. India is for Hindus. It is not religion but a way of life. All people in India are Hindus.
