To reform the politician.
by Joy Gupta on Apr 26, 2009 09:21 AM  | Hide replies

We need many changes to the present system of governance. First of all, there should be some qualifications to be a politician. These are:
1) No criminal (charged & convicted) can be a politician (We don't want a bad man of society to lead us)
2) Educational qualification should be hon. graduate min. (with Pol. Science & Economics as subjects)
3) Proven work in the area of social welfare

Then we should have rules for election:
1) No post-poll alliance. Anyone found indulging in post-poll alliance must be banned for life from contesting.
2) No ticket if politician has scored below 40% against KPI in previous term
3) Any attempt at dividing the common people in the name of religion, language, region or caste should result in a life ban from politics

Other steps should be as below:

1) Defined and measurable KPI for each elected politician
2) Every Government account to be audited by neutral audit farm appointed by the Supreme Court
3) Rashtrapati to have more vetoe power in all policy matters
4) Elected politicians should not have the right to introduce or change any law without the approval of the common people of India.
5) Money allotted for MP/MLA quota must be audited every year by the neutral audit farm
6) No freebies for MP/MLAs,
7) Z-plus security only for head of nation like PM & President.
8) New law must to make corruption as the worst crime after murder and should carry a min. of 5-year term.
9) No special quota for MP/MLAs anywhere.

10) Regional parties to be abolished.
11) Not more than three national parties should be there so that the common man have the chice of selecting each party for a 5-year term and any party losing will have to wait for 10 years to get into power again
12) No convoy for any politician except the PM & President. Not even the Chief Ministers.
13) Any national issue must be debated with transparency in a decent manner and on logical and practical terms. Such debates should be open to common man
14) Evaluation of the performance of the politicians against their KPI during their term must be done by neutral HR farm appointed by the Supreme Court. Results to be made public.
15) National security to be taken up with highest priority and anybody found to be a threat to this will have to face life term.

If we can follow all these strictly, then only can we expect to reform the politicians. Trust me, I have stayed in India and other better managed democratic countries and even in countries ruled by Monarchy. I found that the democracy in India has got diluted to such a pitiful stage that the politicians are taking the advantage and the common people are always at the receiving end. This must change.

achievements and goals of representatives
by Sam on Apr 17, 2009 09:59 PM  | Hide replies

It should be made compulsory for any candidate to publish in a local and national daily his achievements to date and his goals for the future. The next time around the election commission should evaluate if he/she had done what was promised.

Why the news traders will search and move on to the charming personalities who will be interviewed for days by non-matches irrespective the qualities that their forefathers have earned commissions through POK, Bofors etc. It is not a pride for all Indians? What will we earn from old faces?

The candidates will waste time. Its for the people to open their eyes and check what the candidate has done and what he has not done. Also note that say if a candidate promises inclusion of say Gujjars in SC/ST and say he implements it then what about the meenas who oppose it.?

MYSTERY: why center is hand-in-hand with terrorists

ALL INDIANS MUST FIRST ANALYSE,
EACH MINISTER'S FAMILIES, REAL CLOSELY:

- the sole child-daughter of pm 'doc', works in usa, and her live-in boyfriend is an arab from saudi.
her favorite writings are extremist-abusive against hinduism, and fanatic-rightwing support for islam bordering against christianity, all in the open...

- good ol' Rahulll's g-friends, since his days in switzerland/europe and usa, vary from white chicks of europe&usa, to a recent south-american columbian, and now indian variety seems his favorite.

- cm of delhi sheilaDixit, her sole-daughter ran away and married a mohammadean, when she was a teen. today she is a dedicated islamic propagandist

- Madame appointed a guy to head the CBI, a sardarji. and his daughter??
well, sardarji's daamaad is a lead at a massive madrasaa.

- and pray, who's getting most major airport contracts nation-wide??
an islamic company of dubai.

guess, which party has the 'MAX PERCENTAGE' of muslims, in many cities its now more than 40% ?

no points for answering this!!
its the CONGRESS!

and which party has the MAX COUNT OF CONVICTED BUT CURRENTLY ARE MINISTERS ! YES THOSE SITTING IN JAILS!!
CONGRESS AGAIN!

and madame gave the multi-billion DOLLAR metro rail project to ?? WHO ??
its a paki company registered in karachi!

Pick about ten of them at random and shoot them.

Reform Citizens first
by Ramasubramaniam Iyer on Apr 16, 2009 11:35 PM  | Hide replies

We always talk of reforming politicians. We get the politicians we deserve. Politicians are part and parcel of our breed.
1. We under register the value of property we are buying
2. Some people even complain that some government officers are honest!
3. Spit on the roads publicly. Public places are treated like public urinals. You bring thousands of laws and punishments you will not see any changes
4. People will vote a politician not for the greater good he will do to all the people living in his area but only if the politician promises 3rs kg rice to their castes?
5. To reform the politician we have to reform ourselves first. You can bring in a thousand changes and thousands of laws but a common Indian will find loopholes in them and break everyone of them. How do we expect our politicians to be any different?
6. Our archaic laws are from the British system and we havent even bothered to change them so lazy we have been.
7. We fight against each other kill each other for temples/masjids/churches.
8. We fight against each other to get free handouts from the government instead of refusing government handouts and working hard to correct our own ills.
9. We take pride when we are awarded for being Slumdogs. Ask the people living in the slums. Why dont they ensure and repair the drainage systems in the slums on their own. Why dont they want to better their own lives?

The problem we have in India is that we do not 'value' our democracy. While Indians probably wanted the British out, many were still loyal to the monarchs, and were not really thinking in terms of democracy. So in effect, democracy was thrust on a population which did not crave for it, and thereby we end up being quite indifferent to it. The practice of having career politicians, who spend a whole lifetime on politics (with no other qualification that can help them make a living) also increases corruption since they feel they should make the most of the power when they have it. If we have a system where some minimum qualifications are specified for becoming elected representatives, we may be able to change things a bit.

I tend to disagree completely with Iyer. There is no problem with the people of India. Indians abroad are doing well and are law abiding citizens. The problem is with the system which helps people with criminal background to be elected as our representatives ; who will then resort to horse trading to get power. Hence most of their time is spent in holding on to the chair and not for providing good governance. We need electoral reforms as MP Anil has suggested.

In the short term - An option to vote against a candidate with out choosing another.. and bar him completely.
In the long term - Shift to presidential form or any other democratic form could be contemplated. The existing system breeds criminals. It is a no win scenario

Dear Korath
Indians Abroad are one of the most law abiding communities but when they come to India they end up doing all the things i mentioned.
Problem is with us Indians. Please answer all my questions above? If you buy a property wont you register it for the value much less than you actually paid for it?
Corruption is our bread and butter. How can our politicians be any different.?
Any form of government is useless as long as people are indifferent and dont demand quality of life that they ideally deserve

It is the system at fault , look at our forefathers , do you think they had less values and ethics and look at the current generation and think of the future generation that will come .The children today are seeing corruption as they grow , right from childhood they see arround them that only corrupt people and people with contacts are moving up so they will also end up being corrupt.Had India been a zero corruption environment the children would be better citizens. Think how it all started we were not bad people earlier but our system let powerful corrupt people to get into politics and they corrupted the system and the malaise is now spread too much that now it nearly impossible to clean the mess . You undervalue the property because your builder will prompt u say pay less y pay more and the corrupt system will let you do it .In earlier times when this must have started i am sure not all indians wanted to do undervalue but u see gradually everyone is doing it because no fear , no problems , so corruption is taking the entire country in its grip .World wide people need to be disciplined by a powerful legal system wherever the legal system is weak people do all these things not just Indians .
About spitting in roads .I will give you and example which will tell u how it is the system that makes people behave .

An example of how systems makes people good or bad .

In China where i live i see it everyday . Chinese are not so civilised like the europeans . So even they spit on the road and sometimess litter . Mostly dont because there is a dustbin kept at every few steps .
But they local government here has people who clean the roads every 2 -3 hours . I see them coming and keeping it clean .As you see clean roads always you dont feel like spitting .
Slowly people will change the habits and eventually all chinese will become like europeans and keep the roads clean.
When in college we as students had decided we wont litter we wanted to be good citizens and we would end up carrying garbage in our hands for sometimes as long as 1-2 hours and still not find a dustbin around . Here they are there at every few steps , inside buses , inside trains , so y wont it put it in one of the dustbins .In India even I .will sometimes get bored and throw it if not at the middle of road at some garbage heap nearby .Am I not civilised u cant blame me always , keep the system ready and then tell me i am not obeying it . I want to throw it in a bin but show me a bin ?Put the systems in place and slowly people change towards good .
Even if a european stays in India for long i am sure he will atleast once throw something not in a bin ,how long do i carry it man where do i throw it ?People need to disciplined and taught good habits so once the systems are in place people will fall in line .

Guys, NDTV has placed a fake poll on it website which has a "Vote" button but it shows hard coded data of 75% ppl showing that Varun shudnt have been released. The js code doesnt have any action on the click of the "Vote" button. NDTV has lost all sense of morality in its effeorts to appease Mullahs. The code snippet on their site is as below:
input type=image src=but_vote.gif width=46 height=20
Any web developer can know that this button wont do anything even if you click on it.

You said 'rouges' although you probably meant 'rouges'.

But you are right, more right than you know, because rouge = red. Some reds snuffed out would be just the ticket for the country to improve. You can start with the red running China's national newspaper in India.

You must VOTE for candidates from your CASTE only.
by New York on Apr 16, 2009 03:11 PM  | Hide replies

Since Hinduism is based on CASTE hierarchies, it intrinsically seeds HATRED in your Children(e.g. Varun Gandhi).
Hence,
* You must vote for your CASTE till 85% of all registered marriages in India are INTER-CASTE or INTER-FAITH.
* Only he can UNDERSTAND your culture and IMPROVE your socio-economic status.
* And do not worry if he is CORRUPT.
This is the only way to STOP dis-integration of India.

This troll posts this nonsense everywhere.

He must be a Christian fundamentalist. They usually accuse others of the things they do. For instance they are the ones who have killed the most people in the world through racism and discrimination. Then they accuse Hindus of discrimination, even though Hindus have done far less damage.

Caste is the magic word (and a valid reason) with which the Christians converted many people in India to Christianity. It also played a part in conversion to Islam. While casteism is still prevalent in the northern parts in the social fabric, in the South, West and East, it is mainly used as a political tool. It is not really a valid stick to flay Hinduism any more. The funny thing is that despite conversions, the caste segregation still exists among the converted people (they are still discriminated based on their original caste before conversion, and maintain different churches, no inter-marriage, etc.). So in a way caste segregation is more among the Christians in India than the Hindus themselves. India is the only truly secular country in the world - to the extent the minorities call the shots. Even in UK and USA, they have a strong undercurrent of Christianity in all administrative and government activities.

Your analysis is unbelievable and untrue. This has got nothing to do with Hinduism. Are all Christian and Muslim countries (and india is not even a Hindu country anymore unfortunately) free from violence?
