There are many other holidays

Which should be cancelled. Nothing wrong in what Gujarat Govt. did. But they should cancel more holidays including Gandhi Jayanti. On Gandhi Jayanti, govt. should function 12 hours instead of 8.

Good Friday not a holiday

Good Friday is not a holiday for 50% of the United States population when US is a 90% plus christian country. It is apalling to know that whole of India remain closed on this day and when someone tries to stop this gross wastage of time by not giving holiday, people make political issue out of it.

terrible... but on expected lines

The decision by the Narendra Modi Govt. is of course part of their continuing strategy to make our land.. read Gujarat, a hindu rastra. Unfortunately for the minority in Gujarat, the majority living with them have opted for a communal government which has never hidden its intentions.
The minority in Gujarat has no option but to run.. and to run far. This is also an indication of what might happen if the BJP is elected again to power at the centre. The union govt knows it has to hide its 'inner feelings' if it has to come back to power again, but once they feel they are really strong, not even the hindu gods can know what they will do to our motherland.
Hence I call upon all Indians out there, Hindu,Christian,Muslim or otherwise, NRI or otherwise, Gujarati or otherwise, to come out and react strongly against Mr. Modi and his cohorts. The government must feel the power of the people.
Boycotting the elections is not the way to do it. Coming out and voting in full strength will ensure that these fascists will never see the face of the Parliament again. Lets not forget our glorious Indian tradition of love, peace and brotherhood. Jai Hind

Good Friday not a Holiday

There should be no holidays at all, the only holidays should be the Independence day, Republic day, and Gandhi Jayanthi.

This is a republic and not a religious country, I for one would want all the holidays cancelled and have only the holidays which the republic celibrates. A set of paid holidays say 25 days a month should be set aside for those who wish to celebrate the respective festivals.

If the Hindu fanatics want it, like cancelling the Good Friday holiday then, why not cancell the umpteen number of Hindu Holidays that are there .

Well then gradually there will be no difference between Pakistand and Hindistan, all a pack of colour blind humans.
