Dhoni's retirement from Test Cricket - Wrong decision
by YUSUF JANJIRA on Dec 30, 2014 04:01 PM  | Hide replies

Great players world over who could not handle the captaincy burden gave up the captaincy when their game was affected but continued playing for the team. With Dhoni retiring the Indian team has lost the best Wicket Keeper available to the selectors and also a superb batsman.

Still feel he should reconsider his decision and continue to play for India in Test Cricket for a few years more

but Naman's not even been considered as 2nd keeper. Hope he's at least now given a chance in the next test series after WC.

Dhoni as Captain
by Pallab Banerjee on Dec 30, 2014 04:00 PM

The best format of Cricket is Test Cricket and Dhoni of late has not been impressive as a leader. Good decision at the right time.

He should have been shown the door when IPL controversy involving his team came to light, only because of suspended BCCI chief he could pull on.

Why MSD became a villain all of a sudden?
by SR Hari on Dec 30, 2014 03:56 PM  | Hide replies

So many are expressing that this is the best thing to happen to Indian cricket. But the same Dhoni was praised as "captain cool", best captain, successful captain till India was winning. Aussies used to win those days because of McGrath, Warnie, Gilly, Hayden, Langer and not because of Steve Waugh alone. Same way, India was doing well when it had Dravids, Laxmans, Kumbles, Bhajjis.... Now the whole set of old players moved on and a new crop of players have come in. Any nation goes through the phase. India, still had not performed very badly with this et of youngsters.

Dhoni, as a keeper had not fared badly either. In the 90 tests, he has close to 300 victims apart from having batting average of 39 and captaining India in about 55 tests (that too as most successful captain).

Is he really a villain as some are projecting?

You know all Indian greats like Dravid, Laxman and Sehwag could not continue because of Dhoni. Technically sound opener Gambhir was not selected and useless Dhawan was selected just coz Dhoni dont like gambhir. Dinesh Karthik's carrer is spoiled by Dhoni. He want Inian team to be bunch of Dhoni's friend. Raina carries Dhoni's kit during Practise session

DHONI IS A GREAT LEADER
by sri dab on Dec 30, 2014 03:52 PM  | Hide replies

kohli is zero and can play only on dusty indian pitches.does not have talent and is just a fluke player. dhoni was a true fighter and an excellent leader. he did not play for himself but played for the team and country. this was evident from todays play. in first test that idot kohli got out on the last day without caring for the team where as today dhoni took the responsibility and sailed the team to achieve at least draw. dhoni won world cup for india I am sure kholi can not win even a spoon . for me india first and I do not care for players like kohli and sachin who play just for their own profit and not for the team. Dhoni can play only in Indian continent...slow pitch....he is helpless against good pace on fast pitch.....he should quit as captain from all overseas matches....he is still good captain in India esp. Jarkhand

Sri dab, Kohli is the top scorer for India with 3 100s in 3 tests. Is Adelaide, Gabba and MCG dust bowls according to you?

Money Cricket VS Test Cricket (no money)
by rishi tarar on Dec 30, 2014 03:49 PM

One can feel good till he enlighten with money and power.Once you got you will not waste the time in field for 5 days. More money is more preferable so only opted for One day and T20...Well T20 will not go from his kitty till he become 40....MORE MONEY MORE LIKING..

The true sense is actual cricketer is the one who stand long with test cricket where love to play and spend time on pitch....

Pl do not come up with biased comments, Dhoni has been a great cricketer but that doesn't mean India would be performing bad in future even at home..

Your comment assumes India lacks good captains, how many have u seen so far from current team..?

Let's respect his decision..!
by miviu on Dec 30, 2014 03:42 PM

After all he is most successful Captain for India, who led Indian for world cup victories and also, India becoming number 1 Test playing nation.

Ups and downs are common.. And its always a case in star-players career that their failures are projected more than victories than achievements..

SAD NEWS
by Shilpa Mehta on Dec 30, 2014 03:39 PM  | Hide replies

In fact its a BAD NEWS .

He's great leader & motivator .

Now see even more worse days for Indian tests cricket . Even in last ENG tour he was the only one who scored at least a 50-60 runs in middle order taking the teams score past 200 or else it would have been shameful under 100 all out .

Now Team India may lose by even bigger margins overseas in tests .

His overseas record as a captain is worst for any country except Bangladesh and Westindies. Lost 15 Test matches in last four years.
