Why doesn't he retire from other Cricketing formats too? It's about time he did.

captain cool

captain cool DhoniBhaijaan remains cool and calm and goes quietly. Only the man who did it will know the pressures of keeping, batting and captaincy. Despite a incompetent bowling and it's limitations,he did a reasonably good job in tests and remains a undisputed king in the shorter formats.

He has been playing non-stop and it was time he gave up test cricket and he did it at the right time when there was some alternative in Kohli. Stil, Dhoni will be missed in tests as a player. It's not going to be easy for Kohli in overseas though anybody can do well in home conditions.

Dhoni is an intuitive and inspired captain in the ODI and T20 formats.

His Test captaincy is however no upto the mark. Glad that Dhoni had the guts to follow his conscience. We are proud of you!

Will miss but miss not
by Saba Pathy on Dec 30, 2014 03:01 PM  | Hide replies

India will miss him as WK/Batsman and will NOT miss him as Captain in Tests.

He goofed today also sending Rahul one down. Poor guy; with so much pressure as 1st test that too against OZ.

Look at it the otherway. What if a few wickets had fallen quickly and Rahul came at #6. He would have been under tremendous pressure. Pujara, with his experience, came @6 and played about 12 overs which helped India in saving the test. For every decision taken, there will be some critic.

he dint want Rahul and to end his career, he played his cards in this test.

Rahul should have gone ahead of Dhoni in 1st innings so that he has confidence there is some more batting to come

In the 2nd innings, he is sent one down; too early for a first time test player.

Dhoni's game plan to fail Rahul

nonsense. if rahul does not know how to bat it is not dhoni's fault. Rahul is supposed to be an opener, and since dhoni did not want to expose him in australia they sent him at 6 in the first innings and at 3 in the second innings. He played like a fool and got out both times, stop blaming dhoni for that.

Motivating captain
by shiv hr on Dec 30, 2014 03:01 PM

Dhoni is definitely a motivating captain. He has always proved his determination in critical situations. His decision is personal may not be good at this time for india.. He should have taken some tests more.

Dhoni hat off to you. Thank you for entertaining us.
But Kohli is temperamental, I can not expect great things from him as a captain.

Good Decision at the right time
by thomas mathew on Dec 30, 2014 02:59 PM  | Hide replies

Dhoni's decision is at the right time . Saha and Sanju can fill in the role of wicket keeper batsman and they are young too. He is a great one day and 20-20 player and he should captain and play in these formats according to his strengths
