MSD understood that he cannot win any more overseas tests. BCCI and selectors cannot make him to play under other captains since he is too big. Hence better to retire than stepping down from captaincy.

Gr8 decision taken by MS..you are the true champion and having great cricketing brain..i was expecting this decision round the corner but should have played 100 tests as no Indian keeper achieved the milestone....

…comments from legends which will go somewhat like this:

"He still had another 5-6 years left in him. But you cannot play when your body wants to retire”

Great Captain! India will miss a motivating Captain!
by saurabh on Dec 30, 2014 03:10 PM

Dhoni is India's most successful Test captain with 27 victories out of 60 Tests, while losing 18 with 15 draws.

His action speaks better than words. He was a motivating force for team with cool head approach. India will miss him!

you knew from your heart and you have spelled it also during your media session that test cricket or its captianship is not your cup of tea.. but lazy and crooked bcci and selectors still persisted.. shame on all

atleast you are better than those who ever prior to captained india and were not ready to sacrifice , dhoni you did and but late ...
