Youngsters will be humiliated because they did not get the experience at home since a 39 year old player refused to vacate his place in the team.

Youngsters fail because of lack of guidance and training not because they are young or inexperienced.

By your logic no employee should ever retire because the new employees are not competent enough because they are never given a chance to prove themselves!

Already 5 youngsters are bl00ded in the team. Why do you want all batsmen to be below age of 25? Having an experienced batsmen or two esp. on overseas tours is a bonus. So don't talk sh*t.

We need good batsmen who can face pace bowling especially on the pitches in England and Australia!

Their age or their numbers is irrelevant!

Experienced batsmen cannot help anybody else with advise if the batsmen are not properly trained for foreign conditions.

Besides, Indian team has a coach to advice the team members!

you dont know abc of cricket.

you dont know the meaning of a player who is experienced and helping out the juniors.

have you been at all in a corporate environment? as per your logic everyone in a company should be below 30 as they are energetic and no need for any mentors as that can be done by managers!!!! what a joke.

How long do you think Sachin can keep "mentoring" youngsters from within the team?

Nobody is stopping him from being a coach and imparting his extensive experience to current and future players!

this team is full of juniors. they did well against a below average aus team in india. but overseas against the best like south afric and england is a different game altogether. you are being short sighted in seeing that youngsters can do all well by themselves by judging them based on a home series against a below quality side.

as for coach, being on the field and guiding is a different thing than being a coach who is at best like a non playing manager. see how shane warne says that coach's impact on the field is minimal.

in this series too, it was sachin who led the way with 81 in chennai. if he had got out when india were 12 for 2 aus would have got an upper hand throught the series. it was he who was helping the juniors through crucial partnerships and raised their confidence of playing against austrlia.

I too agree that sachin should play south africa tour, may for last time. During that tour we will come to know were the yougsters stand, and its good to have senior player during transistion else it would be like australian team who didn't have any senior player to guide in indian conditions.

Also youngsters should seek help from tendulkar to play overseas conditions.

This is not a question of family members. It is about work!

Why do we retire older employees even though they know the work like the back of their hands?

you dont know anything about a corporate environment. many seniors are kept and respected by managers as they can guide the team in tough times and come out with pearls of wisdom during crisis. i guess you are in some c grade company that hires only people below 30 and makes them work like a sweat shop.

dravid and laxman are retired. we need to recall one of sehwag or gambhir to provide experience in opening. sachin has not retired so he is needed in south africa to lend experience to the middle order and to the team as a whole.

retirement of Sachin

Ofcourse he is a great cricketer of all time. I thought he will express his desire before this test match in that case he would have received a biggest home welcome.

Hi Vikas, you have a point and all would agree that he will not retire until he has played his 200th test but he should know that not many will be happy to see him achieving this milestone. He has been living on the past glory and MUST be dropped immediately as soon as he has fulfilled his dream of playing 200th test match.

NOW THE FORM OF THE TEAM IS EXCELLENT, THERE ARE MORE AND MORE YOURGSTERS/NEWCOMERS. IN THIS SITUATION ONE OR TWO SENIORS LIKE SACHIN SHOULD BE THERE IN THE TEAM TO GIVE ADVICE/ENCOURAGEMENT TO THE NEW COMMERS

Batting in Newzeland, Australia on bouncy tracks not an easy thing to do. no spinners can get wicket as minnows like jaddu and ashwin scalped 5 wickets haul in india, it's not eazy take it from me.

by Manoj Ghosh on Mar 25, 2013 10:34 AM

Sachin is a great hero , he should call it a day with honor. But his service will be required at SA and NZ as there is no senior player to guide young star as BCCI has dropped Sahabag and Gambir all. Dhoni is not against pace i think Sahabag shd be taken in middle order.

this is the time, he should take retirement from cricket. Otherwise time is coming that management will have to drop him from playing 11. Hwe must realise that time has come to give chance to young players in the queue.

Your apprehension that India will not be able to perform without you is now no longer valid in view of the present series wherein the youngsters have performed exceedingly well and thus you can now peacefully retire and favor another youngster by vacate the position you have been playing since last 2 decades. Please rest assured that young Indian players will no more disappoint you over the time.

Hmmm...can you send these youngsters alone for tours like south africa and england which are in the next one year?

even captain himself will not be comfortable with that. the selectors will restore gambhir or sehwag plus Sachin as experienced players for these tours.

Don, experience comes only when you play matches. If seniors do not allow youngsters to play how could they get experience? Cricket Australia has taken a bold step to send youngsters to India. They might have taken a whitewash but still they got rich experience. We have seen our team loaded with greats like Sehwag, Dravid, Laxman, Sachin and Harbhajan got humiliated in Australia & England last year.

Yes but the team needs couple of experienced batsmen along with the juniors. Dont expect juniors to be able to handle it all alone overseas. If they are alone, they may even get psychologically damaged after a loss. Sachin's presence in the team as an active guiding force is required. The team has enough youngsters already bl00ded.

Mr. don sachin presence in a team is like a thorn. he should think gentle and retire. Indian team has got Dhoni; Kholi etc as almost senior players. No need of such a big matured player for no use at present situation.
