Boycott is entirely right
by piri on Jan 25, 2013 02:21 PM

that the captain is unfairly or undeservedly condemned or praised out of proportion when his team loses or wins.

Clive Lloyd used to be praised so often to the heavens whenever his team turned out another win.

But Clive Lloyd also led a team comprising Greendige, Haynes, Richards, Lloyd himself, Dujon, Holding, Garner, Marshall, Roberts....each one so clearly a giant in his own right.

All Lloyd had to do was maintain unity and camaraderie in the team for it to reign unchallenged for 2 decades!

Political dhoni fans

Waht a hypocrites double standatred fans.
Winning beacuse of captaincy & loss beacuse of players.
This type of political menatlity of dhoni fans kill cricket/sports in country.
If win is because of captaincy, them all loss also because captaincy.
Fact is in last 2 yrs we have lost more matches than won agiant good teams in all format of game.
Fact is even when we eere winning, it was beacuse of match winners like sachin, dravid, laxman, kumble, ganguly, zaheer etc & not beacuse of politicain dhoni.
Now they have retired & see team performance.

sachin, dravid, laxman, kumble, ganguly, zaheer all of them support Dhoni, they say that he is the best person to take the indian team forward. All these cricketing greats cant be wrong, they all cant be Hypocrites & Politicians & double standard fans of dhoni.
Remember Dhoni's world cup final knock & many more under-pressure knocks

BOYCOOT IS TOTALLY WRONG
by Shilpa Mehta on Jan 25, 2013 01:04 PM  | Hide replies

He's giving such statements even after
ENG is battered by huge margines .
( 127 runs , Eight & five wickets ) .

And this is the case when all our frontline bowlers like Zaheer , Praveen , Irfan , Umesh Yadav , Munaf , Harbhajan are either injured or out of form .
Imagine what would have been Enaland's condition if all were available ??

ENG are like minnows before Team India .
( Like Zimbabwe , Ireland , Kenya , Scotland )

Team India is no doubt number one .

England is not certainly the minnows before India, it is the same England which floored India in test Cricket!

Here we're discussing

only about ODI & not

tests .

ENG is nowhere near Team India in ODI's .

Last tour we defeated ENG in England in ODI's
& white washed them in India .

Indian team is like a bunch o buds. In due time each one will bloom into flower when this team will again be world beaters. Gambhir is the only deadwood left. I hope he will not be selected for next series and U Chand will replace him.

Even Sahwag was not an opener initially. Ganguly saw an opener in him and everything got transformed thereafter.

Who's Geoffrey to give a CERTIFICATE ??
by Edison John on Jan 25, 2013 10:17 AM  | Hide replies

Geoff Boycott has never been kind to India, either in word or in deeds. When he declares that the Indian Team is " average " and that we are lucky to have a captain like Dhoni, Geoffy is NOT BEING KIND. On the contrary, Geoffy is insulting India, I think !

Also, who is he to comment on the date of expiry of the products in the Indian Team . Don't we have INDIAN SELECTORS, & the BCCI for looking at these , in India. I get a 'nightmare " whether we are still under " Colonial rule " and taking orders from them. I hope I will wake up soon from my nightmare !!

He is not giving a certificate, he is giving his opinion.

Obviously, Indian journalists asked him that is why he gave it!!!

Contrary to what you believe, I think what he said is absolutely correct.

I feel the team has excellent quality young players. Still they lack experiance in playing abroad as well as temperament..which will come through practice, playing as a team, and with confidence. Being an experianced person and captain like Dhoni is at the moment is helping... in another way.. training... I dont know at what indent jeffery said.. I feel the way it is written in the rediff column is not the right judgement about current indian players. Ofcourse a player like Dhoni is always a boost. But the current indian playes have the potential as they proved in junior level. This stage will come to every team when good experianced players retires and new people come. As long as senor players are there in the team they wont feel that much pressure and determination.

advisor to bcci selector for indian team is Wasim Akram, Boycott, Nazir Hussain, Imran Khan, etc whom their own selector in their respective countries ignore.what a funny situation and most of them have average record in their career as captain
