The problem with Dhoni is that he takes it upon him to finish the matches by himself in the end. It can be done in ODI and more easily in T 20. In test if u need to do it u need more of grit than the use of long handle. The pressure is tests is just too much for Dhoni to try such Bravado. Relieving him of captaincy will only make him a better player in tests .
Comparing Gambhir's batting records to Dhoni's is not fair when u r talking about leading a team. If that is the case Tendulkar should have been the greatest captain ever..but it was not to be..there is something more to it rather than contributing just as a batsman. Also going by the IPL 5 results is also unfair as it is an altogether different arena..the test cricket...Not to take away any credentials from Gambhir...but there is a lot more for Gambhir to make a fine balanced leader...he has to wait for some more time and his day would come when he matures more as a leader.

Exactly. Leadership abilities cannot be assessed by just One IPL win.
Dhoni's records and stats tell what he is and what he was.
I feel Gambhir is overambitious. Dhoni did a remarkable job in IPL to rally CSK from behind to reach the finals. It was amazing. THough they lost out in the finals, nothing can be attributed to Gambhir for KKRs success either in the finals.
More than the captain its the team that has to perform. I think we should set aside the issue of captaincy unless the captain is not able to talk to fellow team members and media. I think Dhoni counts high on both these grounds.
Did we not hear in the Australian tour about slow movers on the field?Dhoni made that comment and hence wanted seniors be rotated.Gambhir is a late arrival into the Indian team. One IPL win does not warrant a test team captaincy change. The batting performance comparison doesnot show a large gap. This article is biased to say the least

can't agree to that. Dhoni's comment about slow movers came under sharp criticism for right reasons. He is questioning presence of big match winners in the team including Sehwag, and Gambhir when his own record in away series is the last thing he should be proud off. He has shown big biases in team selection and playing RP Singh is a classic example of giving favors to old friends. His body language that gave him captain cool title was no where to be seen in losing positions. Faulty filed placements, failing to inspire bowlers and fileders was evident. He misreably failed to keep the team together - an essential requirement for captain. It is time for him to go at least in tests. He is does not even deserve to be included in the team as a default player.
This Chennai super kings lobby has to be broken with BCCI head, cheif selector and India Captain from one IPL frenchise is an obevious conflict of interest case. Taking away wise captaincy from Gambhir for no apparent reason only because he is close to Sehwag and giving it to a kid on the block with bad attitude on field like Virat Kohli is also questionable.

Why are we comparing Batting Stats? We are not looking for Batsman. We are looking for a Captain. What was GG doing during the recent two series - England and Australia? He neither contributed not kept his mount shut. How can he be considered as Captain of a team? No way!

This isn't an emergency situation now to change the captaincy and moreover to Gambhir isn't a very good idea. Yeah we lost the series in Eng & Aus that's mainly because of the top order failures and absolute mediocre bowling. We didn't have bowlers who can pick 20 wickets in a match even in the best of the bowling wicket. And we couldn't score 300 runs in either of the series with much hyped top order, so it isn't a captaincy failure at all. West Indies team touring Eng proved to be a better batting side with scores of 300 couple of times. Just can't forget Ishanth sharma bowling like a mad guy for hundreds of overs without producing a single wicket taking delivery.
With new batsmen like rohit, pujara, rahane and bowlers like umesh, aron and ashwin settling in the team, it's not wise to change the captaincy at this point to a relatively inexperienced player like GG. This could be a disaster to the team.
