Still I doubt

Indian Team with current politics is not seem to be prepared without Tendulkar. They need him to take all negative comments if they fail(which they do often if Sachin fails). Who can better replace Sachin in opening slot is still the big question.

No but...

We can groove youngsters to get better result in future. Currently Tendulkar is just a normal batsman in ODI. It's correct time to replace him with a youngster.

Tell me which youngster has really proved himself as a match winning batsman. I am talking about match winning performance against tough ODI teams like Aus, SA etc. This "grooming youngsters" thing has gone just too far. Fact is, in last several years, in tough matches like tests against SA and Eng and ODIs against Aus and SA, its the seniors who have contributed much more than the so-called youngsters ike Rohit, Raina etc.

How many youngsters got fair chance? Look at Virat who is so far best Indian batsman in last 2-3 years. Raina is doing his role perfectly at number 5. It is only Rohit who failed.

Anurag-ji, YOU tell us how many youngsters got a fair chance? Whoever is dropped, either Sir Jadeja or Rohit Sharma is picked. Kohli and Raina are doing a fantastic job but when it comes to opening, Rahane seems a good option. When Sehwag was dropped for Asia cup, Rahane could have been taken. But what happened? Gambhir was asked to open with Sachin. Now, tell me whether it is fair for Gamhir to open JUST to include Jadeja/Rohit Sharma in the team?

contd....
Frankly, I would wish to see a young team NOT consisting of Rohit Sharma & Sir Jadeja.
The place of Sir Jadeja is still a question mark as long as Yuvraj Singh plays like the good old days...... Irfan/Yusuf Pathan could have made best use of that, but consistently failed. However, 1 all rounder is needed and Jadeja is NOT AT ALL fit to replace Yuvraj.
In place of Sachin, Rahane can be tried. In place of Rohit, Manoj Tiwary can be tried.

Doubtful

Its highly doubly doubtful that the likes of Sehwag, Tendulkar, Zaheer or Dhoni can make it to 2015. Same for Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina.
They all look lethargic during ODIs. Specially if India is fielding in 2nd innings.

Time to go out gracefully!
by Ravi Iyer on Jul 16, 2012 01:48 PM  | Hide replies

He should have done it after the WC 2011. All his talk of going out on top as being selfish is gibberish to defend his decision to play on. He played ODIs in Australia and the Asia Cup to reach the elusive 100th 100.
He may be enjoying playing but he has to be effective and contributing. His recent contributions in the ODI tri-series were very mediocre and the painstaking 100th 100 v Ban at the cost of the match is another case in point for him to hang his boots. Not that his test performance has been more encouraging since the England tour.

tell me who has really "effectively" contributed in ODIs after World Cup. India was whitewashed in ODI series in England and in Aus, it was bad performance collectively. Even in the match against BD, Sachin did his job but its the bowlers who really flopped and lost the match for India vs BD.

Who can replace him? How many youngsters can play better than him in all surfaces? We should not ask him to retire.Any player irrespective of age can represent the country on the basis of merit or Performance.

There's no merit left in his performance. He's hanging on his past laurels! By your argument, Gavaskar should still be playing because no Indian opener has played better than him since his retirement. I can extend the argument for many players including Lara. In fact WI needs more of Lara than India needs Sachin. Coz they have no youngster even half his calibre!

He did well in World Cup and 2010 ODI series, the last time India was doing well.

Babu, I am not so sure about Sehwag, Rohit Sharma and Zaheer Khan. Rohit Sharma & Sehwag because of very poor performances of late. Zaheer Khan because he is getting quite old and fitness is still a question mark. I would prefer Praveen Kumar, but would definitely like him to add some pace.

If they are so keen to prepare for WC-2015, they should start grooming our bowling dept.

the article is said wonderfully well that we are preparing team for world cup 2015.i personally feel india has performed verywell in Indian subcontinent and in sa as conditon matched. But same results were not there in west indies,England and australia.this is because the conditions for batting and bowling were diffrent. There was a good step taken to send India A team to west indies.same step can be taken to send team to australia and newzealand where next world cup would take place.even players can be permitted to play the big bash or limited over matches with county players.I guess in 2008-9 we won in australia were Sachin played dream innings in both the finals at melbourne and sydney.sachin is experience and is reserve for big matches.he cannot be replaced.even he is on non-striker end it is motivation to the fresher taking strike.yes earth is revolving and changes takes place, even great people like kapil, sunil,Ravi, srikanth.dilip, sanjay retired.but till there is positive energy and strength to work for team there is no retirement.even sachin said in his message that he is enjoying cricket.so game is on and crackers will blow on india winning.all the best sachin.

I totally agree with you.. Building a new team by sending India A teams to Australia and New Zealand would be a very good Idea. It will give them the necessary exposure and would also help in the grooming of the team. As far as there is questioning about Sachin, i think he knows well when to take a decision on his retirement.
