Future ODI team.

Why are you so much bothered to force retirement on Great Sachin from ODI? He is picking & choosing means he is giving opportunity to youngesters to prform & cement their place in the future ODI team.Except Virat, who has shown the consistancy to prove that they are capable to fill the gapes created by the greats like Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly & Laxman. They look promishing only in the subcontinent and when they go out to UK, Australia,South Africa, New Zealand & west Indies, they all have shown that they are not of the same class.

What kind of opportunity is it when the youngster bats as an opener in 1 match and makes a half century, but is pushed to number 3/4 when Sachin decides to come back to play (when he wants). Sachin is a legend but he is NOT bigger than the Indian team. I am not saying that Sachin feels that he is bigger than the team but some of his fans (the fanatic ones) think only about his glory/ records and don't understand why Sachin is not a sound investment for ODI World Cup 2015. India was fortunate to have had Dravid, Laxman, Saurav Ganguly and of course the 'great Sachin' ; but there comes a time when one has to step aside for the younger generation to take over. The same thing will be said about Dhoni/ Raina/ Yuvraj if they intend to hang around in the team based on their past 'glory/ records alone' , 5-6 years from now.
Sachin should certainly play Tests for India until we groom youngsters but there is no real need for Sachin in ODIs at this time.

Tendulkar is still young kid..

He is still young. He can able to score many more runs at the cost of losing match..

We lost to bangaladesh in asia cup because of his selfishness to hit 100th 100.

Yes, Sachin should now step aside
by anand datar on Jul 16, 2012 07:59 PM

Some years back it was helping the new comers but now I think, he must be bringing enormous pressure on the youngsters by his presence in the team. Actually they must be feeling awkward to play along with a fatherly figure amongst them ! He should understand.

Doubtful
by Abdul Rafique on Jul 16, 2012 06:46 PM

Its highly doubly doubtful that the likes of Sehwag, Tendulkar, Zaheer or Dhoni can make it to 2015. Same for Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina.
It is also time to look beyond Dhoni. Except in few matches, just like Sehwag, he fails to perform.

They all look lethargic during ODIs. Specially if India is fielding in 2nd innings.
