It is mainly Sachin because of whom there is a start of talk about Bharat Ratan to sportperson. Though Sachin is already a Barat Ratan, but if there is Bharat Ratan to sportperson, Sachin should be awarded prestigeous Barat Ratan.
Just Heard "Ravi Shastri" saying,"Sachin" might Comeback to "Australia" at the End of "2014". "BCCI" & "Paid Commentators" are "Destroying" Indian Cricket by talking abt "Individual Records" than "Winning" matches for "India". "Ravi Shastri"(Unofficial Spokesperson of BCCI)is trying "hard" to "Convince" Indian Public that no changes are required in "Present team) after such a "Humiliation/listless" performance for such a long time. "India" will continue to loose "Matches" with "Sachin" & "Dravid" concentrating on "Test Runs" & "Centuries" becoz it is having "Negative" Impact on "Team" & players have lost "Interest" playing for "Nation" seeing these Players "Piling" on "Records" & "Team loosing". In next Birth "Sachin" should choose either "Tennis" or "Golf" or ".." as sports to excel in. What Non-sense is this. Abhinav Bindra has just won 1 gold medal. He has also performed poorly at world championship. Where as sachin is performing consistently for india from past 22 years.

That one gold medal saved my face among my colleagues in China as the olympics was held in Beijing that time.
Or else I had no place to hide.
Sachin is not known to Chinese,Japanese,American,German,Korean,French or any other super power/emergin power nations.

Out of the 3 names..Dhyan Chand and Tenzing are deserving candidates...It's a little too early to consider Abhinav Bindra....Though winning a gold at Olympics is a huge achievement...confering Bharat Ratna for that would mean that it is almost an impossible dream and psychologically India and Indians are not ready for winning any individual gold medal in the Olympics...
in the field of arts would be Illaiyaraja and Dr.balamuralikrishna.. when latha mangeshkar , ravishankar can be awarded ..why not these two.. they r probably the greatest musical geniuses to have walked on earth since the times of thaygaraja, beethoven or mozart

Musicians all over india know them.. and they r universally acclaimged geniuses as far as south indian music is considered...they r very musch relevant as far as entire south india is considered
The criteria to award Bharat Ratna for a sports person should be that the particular sport must be played by many countries and not by 7 or 8 countries. Though, Sachin also deserves it for his contribution to Indian cricket(after he came into the team, cricket gained more popularity and more and more people started watching the game) Dyan Chand deserves it more than Sachin as he is a legend in the world of hockey who also popularised hockey in other parts of the world. Moreover it is a game played in the olympics where a team has to compete with many from other countries. Tenzing is also a suitable candidate for this award as he achieved what no other person had dared to attempt during his time.

Cricket became popular in india is because of Kapil and 83 wcup triumph more than anyhting else.. if BR is for a person for inspiring an entire generation of cri cketers..batsmen or bowlers.. its because of kapil.. without Kapil.. there wudnt be most of current india cricketers..
