oh shut up. enough of this nonsense now. give bharat ratna to a citizen who sacrifices for the country, works selflessly against all odds for the nation. you want to give bharat ratna to someone who asked for a petty duty waiver on a gift? Who then sold same gift?? Who claims to be an actor? Who asked for waiver for extra space for his gym after already having built a luxury bungalow? Who does god knows how many endorsements for money? Don’t demean the bharat ratna, for god’s sake.
Recommending SRT for BR along with late dhyan Chand is the insult to all the BRs & Dhyan Chand. If he can be recommended for BR then , Late pataudi , bishen bedi , sunny gavaskar & kapil dev should have got BR much before.
Let us not reduce the importance & glory of BR by giving it to just about any sportsman - least of all to SRTs of India who play for themselves

please dont compare Late pataudi , bishen bedi , sunny gavaskar & kapil dev with SRT. that publicly shows your lack of knowledge

vinil it shows your lack of knowledge that you dont understand the above named players have contributed to cricket more than sachin has...

do u know who Dhyan Chand is and what are his achievements for the country? Any idea the number of times he has got hockey world cup for india? Its in double digits. Please do some research before commenting.

his achievement are more in the light of the fact that he used to play barefoot & had a very very humble background. The entite world called him " magician of the hocky stick ". Only a handful of SRT fans & a few in BCCI call SRT the great.
SRT doesnt deserve a BR both on cricketing as well as personal grounds.. He might have lot of records.. but on the basis of major contributions towards victories SRT doesnt deserve.. Personally he is a tax-evader.. claimed he is an "ACTOR" and not a cricketer to evade tax.. slowing up while reaching milestone.. crying when dravid declared.. If v award BR to such a person its wud be great insult
Bharat Ratna is something that is given to the jewels of the country enhancing the country's standard of living , development etc . I would suggest people like ratan Tata or industrialists like him who egnerate thousands of jobs ensuring livelihood to lakhs of people , or to Philanthropists like Bill Gates etc who help humanity live a better life by contributing to Indian society through their humanitarian funds helping reach medicines and medical help to the needy . Not to individual players like tendulkar or dhyan chand etc . Ofcourse they were great in their games but not worthy of an award like this . i would say 'Yes' if Tendulkar sets up a humanitarian fund like Anjali and Sachin Foundation helping provide the poor with homes, children with education and medical aid to the needy involving themselves in it and contributing 90% of their wealth.

Dear Thomas, You are very right in your perspective. But, neither Dhyan Chand nor Sachin has personally asked for it. It is being suggested by politicians for Vote Bank politics. Dhyan Chand because for elections in UP, Uttrakhand and Punjab. When there will be elections in Maharashtra, they will give to Sachin.
Although nobody should deny it as denying will be an insult to the award itself.

if so , even for elections in Maharahtra , gavaskar , vinoo mankad etc should be considered & not over hyped over rated tendya.

Well Sachin is curently playing other are lost and forgotten. Even BCCI does not give any respect to Kapil Dev (Winner of First World Cup) nowadays.

dumbf*ck then india was under brit rule -- but the team was still called india
Y not for Anand ..He has brought laurels to india single handedly unlike sachin where he had to depend on others to create records..being a team sport he had to depend on others for partnerships...

True.. we indians are known to bark in groups.... One starts barking..... the entire pack also starts.. we have sold our thinking ability to something called as herd mentality.. Do I also smeel something called as vote bank politics... a Tamil Brahmin with no particular political affilitiation... ??????

vishy is undoubted amongst the gr8. he has been champ since 2007 but SRT has been amongst the top 3 since 1989
If this news is true then its a very good decision.. that guy Dhyan Chand was a genius.. Winning 3 olympic gold in a team event is no joke.. it's a unique achivement. He like the Don Bradman of Hockey or shall we say Don Bradman was the Dhyan Chand of cricket? :-)

Idiot: its a common fact. Do read some stuff on Indian hockey's past.. go to wikipedia and get some info.. don't talk like a clown dumbo!
