Zaheer is a spent force. He doesn't have the stamina to be a fast bowler. He tries to be clever and tries to fool batsman. Nothing wrong with that, but as a spearhead of a pace attack this is not enough. You just get the impression he is still carrying an injury or scared of getting injured, which again is a sign he is not 100% fit.
His attitude when batting also gives away his mental state. He just doesn't want to stay and fight. Zaheer is more than capable of scoring some runs, but it looks like he doesn't want to spend time at the middle. Why would he need to throw his bat around when Dhoni is there?
Looks like Dhoni doesn't have full support of his senior members like Zaheer, Sehwag etc.

Looks like there are some players playing in the team on quota basis. Zaheer is there in muslim-minority quota. Always the team supports one muslim player. I'm sure there are better bowlers and Mithun should have been tried instead of Zaheer or Vinay.

absolutely ridiculous... your bhagwans batsmen miserably failed on the first day and here you are bashing one of the better bowlers in the indian team... if he wasn't around in the first two tests, you guys would have lost even more embarrassingly... Even paki batsmen (all averaging below 30) were able to put up a better show than indian batsmen...
Don't keep on writing we need to breed young players and drop some old players. Be specific...
How about we drop the 2 time 300 guy for showing so much arrogance in not willing to even stay at the crease for 5 overs? Then who should open the batting with Gambhir?
Tell who should replace Dhoni as captain and as bastman keeper who can score in overseas games? Problem with Dhoni is his average outside India in Tests is pathetic.
Should we dropD ravid who scored 1000 plus in 2011 or can we drop Tendlya who scored 1600 runs in 2010 and 800 last year.
Next is Laxman - what do we do to him....poor guys this is first Aussie failure and he has to be the SCAPE GOAT I beleive you are talking about.

how did the new breed bowlers fair and what do we do with them? Yadav, Ishant, Vinay?
Dude ask all your players to stop playing IPL and get back to the business of saving National Team. Will you or any other guy accept this?
I have not yet seen one cricketer volunteering to not play IPL.

ipl cant be the reason for the debacle,which the indian team is facing... even the aussie team plays their own t20 tournaments and also some of them also play in ipl. some of the indian players are like golden goose, which lays one egg at a time. such players in the team need to be identified and removed. definitlely more youngsters should be given chance and who amoung them has to be decided by the selection team.

Very good questions Patriot. Gavaskar is trying to walk a fine line without taking any strong position. He deliberately tries to be vague.
India should get rid of the pacers if they do not have a breakthrough in day two's morning session. If there is no breakthrough then Australia will keep on batting and score 500 plus run. They will ask a tired and demoralized India and quickly wrap up the match.

only a miracle can save team india from losing this test and the series 0-4. 500 plus score is on the cards for the aussie.
Zaheer instigated with a whole lot of hot words, dont know what was his purpose when he did not have a plan to bring Auzzie batting down.
then we hear,
"Don't know why people are after me: Kohli". Because you have great connections with dhoni/selectors like gambhir and bhaji-yuvi used to have. thus you deny chance to someone who did better than you even in WI. you also copy cat things that are unsuitable for your height and thus ....
