Dhoni suits only for T 20 cricket.
by Kalpak chandra on Dec 11, 2012 11:33 AM

he has very rarely score 50 in one days and also in test. If u r leading a team u must perform. He relying on other players. Also sehwag also now days playing as if he is having the hangover T20 . many india players in the current team do not have the mindset of plying test or even one days.

guys, it happens to every team in transition
by veerapuram dharan on Dec 11, 2012 11:23 AM

these kinda blows happens to every team which is in transition phase. even the english team of the 90s and 2000s used to be battered and bruised in their own backyard by several teams. but look at where they are now. even when kevin pietersen and few stars quit the game, they too will face the same fate like us at some point of time..look at the aus..and look at the once mighty WI team..i think they have not recovered at all since the time of richards and marshall...the problem is, 4 big series have been scheduled in a short span of time and the youngsters simply dont have the experience to face the music..

Gambhir - Has been consistent in 2010-2011 in all forms of game. Off late 2012 has been bad. So can be excused.(he stands a good opener for tests and can fill in the boots of Ganguly as a player, also can be looked upon as a future test captain for he has had a few successful stint earlier and is a responsible batsman. He needs to improve on his fielding and running between wickets, same weakness as dada had)
Sachin - A great master needs to retire since he is now playing for saving his pride and not for nation'd pride. I mean he is trying to prove a point to his critics.
Sehwag - An explosive batsman. When he stays on the crease for some time one can expect a 300/200 easily from him. Need him to open the innings still
C Pujara- too early to comment with hardly a few matches under his belt
Kohli - A very good batsman for one day and 20-20. Dont think he has an appetite/temperament for big scores like 150- 200 and above. Should have a back up for his failures.(Believe no one can replace this position where laxman used to occupy)
Yuvraj - Was never in the regular test squad as he never had an opportunity but can be given some more opportunities.
MS Dhoni - a captain cool who takes success and failure in the same stride. Nothing wrong in it can be relied upon his abilities as batsman, captain and plays the game in the right spirit. For he has taken indian cricket to peaks be it ODI,Tests or t20 he needs to be there to groom the future captain for india in all form of the game.

Whom will u take ?? Are any great players
sitting outside , who will do miracles / magic suddenly .
There is no point in discussion on major changes in team . Whatever we have is current best players . We have to manage the show with them only .

Do you think that when dhoni took over the captancy from dravid was he a great player, and that too he was given the captancy because tendular was not ready to take the captancy.

"when dhoni took over the captancy from dravid". This refers to ODI which happened first in 2007.

Kumble handed over captaincy in 2008.

even india of the 1970s
by veerapuram dharan on Dec 11, 2012 11:09 AM

even india during the 1975 and 79 world cups performed pathetically and faced several whitewashes both home and away even with stars like gavaskar, venkat etc. so what was the reason?ODIs? because there was no IPL those days? it is as simple, our current stars are technically incorrect and incompetant. only sehwag, gambhir and sachin are technically equipped for test cricket but unfortunately they have lost the burning desire to score big due to various factors. i must say, keep these three for two more years and remove the rest, including virat(who doesnt have domestic experience), yuvi, raina and dhoni himself..as for the bowling dept, cant always pin hopes on ageing shoulders of zaheer and an inconsistent ishant. the selectors did the right thing by inducting young awana..i must say, if they ascertain things correctly, then india must raise its head again in 2 years time..

Remember : Same Team & same captain has won
two worlds cups for India . Its under
MSD'S captainship we become number one
test team in world which no other captain in history has ever achieved . Have some respect for MSD & SACHIN .
Now we lost 10 out of 13 test , any major
changes will end up losing 13 out of 13 .
Do you want to see 13 out of 13 ??

Kohli - This position was occupied by a legend whose value can be realised only now (Very Very special Laxman), the man who contributed to the Indian cricket unselfishly before retiring earlier. Kohli is good in ODI/T20 but for test he does not have the temperament and Appetite for 150 plus score on a consistent basis as Laxman had. Since this position is critical we need someone with good temperament and Kohli definetley is not the test basman who can fill Laxman. Need a back up for him. May be Ambati Raydau can be tried here

India won the T20 world cup, but since then has'nt done anything noteworthy in T20, do not confuse IPL victories here... in tests, on the field India were never no.1, but more on paper... and MSD had no part in this, if you notice, if sehwag scores a big hundred india always wins... past performances count for nothing when you have lost 10 out of 11 tests against top teams... he should have the decency to quit or be chucked out

technically flawed
by veerapuram dharan on Dec 11, 2012 10:58 AM

dhoni doesnt look like a batsman at all, not only in tests even for ODIs. just look at the way he defends a ball, pathetic to see. hes a naturall attacking batsman and hence should always look to attack. if hes to be shown the door, then throw him out from all the formats or ask him to play attacking cricket which is his style..
