pointing steps down as captain.

pointing is captain of sledging, but not for the australia cricket team. He deserves this long time back. He has to be removed from the team because of his arrogant behaviour. I hope everybody will agree with me.

dost...very few people will be humble when they taste success. Otherwise, arrogance comes with victory and that's the way Punter is. He has a long story of brawls in the pub and creating a havoc in the bars but whatever said and done...you will not have a Punter...cause he is a class act while batting...he had scored runs everywhere and had won matches every ground he had played. That puts Punter in the special category.

When in form he is the best among all
by vivek kumar on Mar 29, 2011 10:40 AM

I really believe he is the most stylish and fluent batsman when he is at his best even better than sachin but only when he is at his best, otherwise the most easiest man to get him out . Thats the problem with him and will remain always.

His Test captaincy culminated in the 3-1 home Ashes defeat
by Senthil on Mar 29, 2011 10:39 AM

in 2010-11 and his one-day reign ended after the elimination from the World Cup.

Ponting's fortunes as captain waned
by Senthil on Mar 29, 2011 10:38 AM

along with those of the team as a series of retirements weakened its resources

CA forced him
by Rajesh Gupta on Mar 29, 2011 10:38 AM  | Hide replies

to step down as a captain under huge pressure of their senior players and media!
I am sure he still wants to lead the side...
Anyway that is the end of a great captain and nearly end of a class batsman

With the benefit of a day's reflection

He decided that now was the best time to go. At 36, Ponting believed he can still enjoy the type of renaissance that has sustained Sachin Tendulkar in recent times. (I have to laugh here)

I Agree with Rating Steve Waugh as Best Captain ever.

Perhaps Kapil comes next. Imran also

Overall Fair rating but your rating mostly based on WC rather than overall

1 was to Steve Waugh and Loyd also has 2 with him, WC Title doesn't meant he is great and what he has done when the resources matters a lot

Totally agree with you!
You should count his own capability as a player, you should perform and lead from the front unlike Ganguly as his later years...

On his arrival home from an unsuccessful World Cup defence
by Senthil on Mar 29, 2011 10:36 AM

Ponting had said he was prepared to give up the captaincy and also move down the batting order if it was in the interests of the Australian team.

by Senthil on Mar 29, 2011 10:36 AM

until Wednesday, but Ponting's announcement should allow Clarke to assume the captaincy on the tour, before difficult assignments against Sri Lanka and South Africa later in the year
