the team is repeated ridiculed by English becaz no english finds a place in it...4 indians in XI is a big thing... i think online voters might hv been predominately asians.. but voting is voting and anybody can take part... great....cricket has produced greats in every period.. Richard Hadlee was a great allrounder who played against big times but scored and bowled well..there are many such players and it is foolish to tag only 11 players since it is not possible.. let us hv great teams of particular period or era which may gv us a better sample of the greats...

It is tough call
by Suresh Malepati on Jul 21, 2011 10:52 AM

To some extent the selection is flawed, among the sub continenet players only sachin, wasim akram and gavaskar deserve to be in the eleven. I would accomodate Molcolm Marshall and vivian Richards in place of kapil dev and Virendra sehwag & use Adam Gilchrist to fill the opening slot. The rest is absolutely fine.

The top 11..my **$%@#
by seal a on Jul 21, 2011 10:27 AM

This is the work of some people sitting in ICC with nothing much to do than get the fans to a game of nonsense....You just cant get the top 11 right. Geoff is perfectly right ...the view is total #$%&.
ICC needs to get their members checked once in a while ...anyways its freee isn't it for the members.??

ICC's Greatest Team, Madan Mohan

All the four Indians deserve to be in this great team. Cricket never had a better opener than our Gavaskar. How many openers have scored two triple hundreds like Sehwag. Do you have better batsman than Sachin scoring with 51 test centuries; and our great Kapil Dev who got those 400 wickets on almost dead and flat Indian pitches and started Fast Bowling Era in Indian Cricket, and greatest gift of World Cup 1983 Win.
These so called self proclaimed greats are not able to digest India's number one position in world test cricket.
Wait for few more weeks and then comment.
Come on Dhoni and Indian Team, win in England and make us proud. Prayers and Blessings of 120 crores are with you.

Well you seem to be looking at individual records not how their centuries have contributed to thier respective team's victories. When it comes to winning matches how can one forget VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid, instead i would rate them above Tendulkar and on par with Sunny Gavaskar.

Why to blame only voters
by common man on Jul 21, 2011 10:17 AM

I don't understand how even experts can select all time eleven. Every 10-15 yrs span there are so many great cricketers. you can't be justified by choosing only 11 great players. The some great players are good in some conditions some are not that good in other conditions. So, you can not say this the best or this is not. So just chill Mr. Boycott.

11 players
by Murali Krishnan on Jul 21, 2011 10:08 AM  | Hide replies

What happened to Australia great players, Border, Chappells brothers, Boon, Rodney Marsh, Lillee, Warne, Waugh Brothers, Pakistan, Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Zaheer Abbas,
West Indies - Viv Richards, Lara, Sobers, Kalicharan,Rohan Kanhai, Joel Garner, Greenedige, Haynes, Holding, Andy Robert, Malcom Marshall, King, Walcot, Worrell,
New Zealand - Crowe, Hadlee
England - Gefforey, Gower, Gooch, Bob Willis, Len Hutton,
South Africa - Greame Pollock, Allan Donald,Barry Richards,
Srilanka - Aravinda De Silva, Arjuna Ranatunga, Muralitharan
India - Why Shewag, Whynot Rahul Dravid, Why not Gundappa vishwanath, Why Not DilipVengsarkar, Venkatraghavan, Ajit Wadekar, Bishen Singh Bedi, BS Chandru, Krish Srikkanth, Farooq Engineer, Patuadi, Mohinder Amarnath ?

Please don't hurt the feelings of yesteryear's greatest players. They may not able to play as they had played earlier, but now we are broking their records only. All records are ment to be broken, Even today's sachin tendulkar's, Rahul Dravid's record also will be broken and should be, then only cricket will grow and improve. Just for getting boost and fame, ICC's should release these type of list without even bother to see what it has. It's shame on ICC

politics to turn world opinion against India
by D S on Jul 21, 2011 10:04 AM

can see what geoff boycott is blurting, naming WI players being left out to spit resentment in world teams against india.

also,

all this to puff india with pride and puff england with anger to unseat indians after india-england match.

india should not fall for all these titles, nominations and prize by videshi. even noble prize has same impact and even china is laughing it off. because these prizes have goals of intelligence collection and influence the public opinion.
