Forget about his personal life. He cannot win a game for India when it matters. That is more important to me.

ICC's Greatest Test game
by Sajeev Warrier on Jul 20, 2011 06:01 PM  | Hide replies

The choice which I had made and submitted in the ICC Website was

1.Gavaskar
2.Haynes
3.Viv Richards
4.Don Bradman
5.Sachin Tendulkar
6.Ian Botham
7.Adam Gilchrist
8.Wasim Akram
9.Malcolm Marshall
10.Shane Warne
11.Dennis Lillee

I hope that I was fairly reasonable in choosing the Best Test team..

Not Haynes ... play eaither Hobbs or Hutton. Substitute Sobers for Botham and interchange the position in which Bradman and Richards come in ... and you're fine.

Change Shane warne with Muralitharan or Kumble...Also who is this Haynes..He is not even half good as Greenidge.I would prefer Viru any day for test opening. He is the best in the business.

Yes..You are right..I am replacing Haynes with Len Hutton and Botham with Sobers...I thought about these earlier but somehow didn't have it in my selection..One thing is very clear..Its very difficult to chose a great Test XI as there has been many many exemplary cricketers who have played cricket at the highest level and have performed exceptionally well, consistently

Tendulkar yet to prove himself after 22 years
by rsjr on Jul 20, 2011 05:52 PM  | Hide replies

Dhoni proved his class as a leader in just 2 years.
How many more years does the Bhuddha want? I doubt he can clear doubts about his ability to perform when team needs him badly even if we give him another 22 years.

ICC Unflawed 11
by mukul Pande on Jul 20, 2011 05:30 PM  | Hide replies

Looks like age is catching up with Mr.Boycott!!
Just because there are more subcontinent players in the team does not mean that the team is flawed. Sir Donald Bradman has been included . Lets not forget that there are only 11 players.
If that is the case then include all the greats in the ICC's Greatest team ..why only consider 11 players. Then we do not have to worry about whose name was mentioned and whose not!!
why to intermingle issues?..Just because ICC is headed by People from subcontinent...it is no good to lash out at them at any inopportune moment!!
That is the reason why poll has been conducted!!Taking into consideration current generations trend how will they even know who Jack Hobbs was? apart from a few ardent cricket fans....they have been born and brought up in as era where Sehwags, Tendulkars have ruled the roost !!

Mukul Pande:

;-)... By that token I immediately remove Sunil Gavaskar.... Coz he didn't even play 20-20... :)
