VijayKumar

now i aint a fan of dhoni, but hitting 180 runs in 47 overs is not an easy task if the track is a 5th day track and the bowlers are ready to bowl a negative line.

Unlike ODI and gillidanda cricket aka 20-20, you can bowl wides down the leg side and not be called for it

Sachin is hurting Indian team
by Jaya S on Jul 11, 2011 09:57 AM  | Hide replies

Sachin is a bad omen. In his presence or absence he hurts India. Mukund, Vijay and Kohli are not able to play their natural game fearing this could be their last chance as Sachin will come back again for England tour and waste one spot in the team. They know Sachin will never retire and continue to play without performing for team cause until Kohli becomes retirement age. This makes youngsters nervous. Sachin should hang up his boots or kicked out with a boot.

THE NO. 1 TEST TEAM???
by Sanjay Roy on Jul 11, 2011 09:50 AM  | Hide replies

India is ranked as the No 1 Test Team in the world and the West Indies No. 7. Not going for the target does not bode well for the No. 1 Test Team. Dhoni mentioned that we could have lost also...without even making an attempt. We had VVS, Dravid, Virat and Dhoni himself and last two are good one day and T20 batsman...So its rather unfortunate that India decided not to go for 86 runs in 15 overs which is less then run a ball...Though the series win is always great especially when it is outside the Indian Sub-Continent..It does not go down too well for the No 1 Test team...nor for the upcoming England series when things are going to get tougher.

You are right.. actually Dhoni and Virat should have come ahead of VVS and Dravid and gone for the target... If it comes to it Laxman and Dravid could be very well relied upon to drop anchor and ensure a draw..

Congrats India :)

Well played Dravid, you are indeed a WALL.

All credit goes to Dravid,VVS and Ishant. As usual Dhoniji was disappointing.

No comments on M Vijay (who filled in Selectors quota) haha

India's win in WEST INDIES
by sudhanshu panda on Jul 11, 2011 09:13 AM  | Hide replies

The series victory is soured by the fact that Unlike the Australians Indians lack the killer instict.Several times Indians have left such situations out of hand.

Pathetic Display
by binu george on Jul 11, 2011 09:06 AM  | Hide replies

What a shame for the Indians.First of all dey took the half the day to bowl out the tailender. And den dey could not score 180 of 44 over.Dravid know only one way to play in the test cricket. Not willing to change according to situation.Instead if he would have playing the IPL he would have scored in boundaries & sixes.when Raina was dismissed Dhoni could have promoted himself in the order to keep the tempo.86 runs in 15 over is an achiveable target with seven wickets in hand. With senior players like Dravid,Laxman,Dhoni etc in ranks the negetive approach shows dis teams may be no 1 in ranking but lacks killer instinct ,aggresive approach & dey would not be able hold on to the position for too long. The lies the difference between the aussies & the indian team.A big let down

Mr. Binu George,
This is a result of the collective Wisdom when things are going rough. When WI resorted to negative line Bowling what will you do??? Will you play One Day/T20 shots?? You Can't??? India is not a deaf Team that too not to understand the difficulty when facing the difficult/Hostile Bowling. Please think twice/thrice/N Times before you comment on this Indian Team which has no Sehwag/Gambhir/Sachin.

The trio of VVS, Dravid and Sachin are from old school of thought who always look for the safety first approach. The new generation started with Viru, Zaheer, Bhajji and now has Kohli, Rohit, Raina who like to go for the kill. Until Sachin, Dravid and Laxman are there in the team, we cannot expect the killer instinct. A loss means loss of advertising revenues and fall in brand value for Sachin. This is how he calculates when he plays on the pitch.

Dude, just shut your mouth if you have no idea about test cricket and its rules that are way different from other limited over formats of the game where the dice is very heavily loaded in favour of the batsmen. So scoring 180, even in 10 overs, is not a big deal in T20 or for that matter even an ODI. Your talk just proves your limited knowledge about the game! May God grant wisdom and knowledge to people like you. Amen!

Rahul Dravid Should not have been sent up the order
by Ganesh V on Jul 11, 2011 08:55 AM  | Hide replies

If you ask Rahul Dravid to chase run, he will kill the test match. Dhoni should have sent Kohli or himself up the order to atleast chase the run. If there was collapse, Rahul dravid could have come later to save. Rahul dravid always plays for draw and not for win. We needed 90 runs of 86 balls and could have scored with little more positive attitude. Not sure what these guys are going to do in England. Looks like another boring, draw series.

Summary
by Giridhar on Jul 11, 2011 08:40 AM  | Hide replies

1. India may be No.1, but lacks killer instinct. They could not chase 180 in 47 overs.
2. Harabhajan is utter waste. Its high time to give exposure to Mishra and others.
3. Once our seniors retire India may slowly start coming down in Rankings. Vijay, Mukund, Kohli, Raina even Dhoni are flop.
4. Even though Ishant is man of the series, he doesn't look like future bowler.

Ram is right. All matches these days are fixed. The world Cup is the biggest fixed tournament every because of high stakes. We could see it from the body language of opposition teams when they played India in QF, SF and Final. No way India could have won the world cup. It is only because of the largesse of teams like Pakistan who dropped catches at will that we won. Thank you Sharad Pawar. You are the true man of the tournament for the world cup. First ICC president to be man of tournament. Only foolish Indian fans think we won the WC on merit. They will always remain fools and curse anybody who says Indian team is mediocre.

Indians sports fans have been spoilt too much in recent years
by R A on Jul 11, 2011 08:37 AM

THere is no way fast runs could be scored since WI would start bowling outside leg stump and it would not be wide like in ODI. Indian cricket fans should enjoy the wins in the recent years .....and relax.
