3rd Test Called off by mutual agreement!!
by Sumit Agrawal on Jul 11, 2011 12:36 PM  | Hide replies

"Lot of Criticism for Indian Test team not chasing 86 runs in 15 overs and calling off the match". But the fact is India gave a try to chase run , sending Raina ahead of Laxman. With Mukund out in first ball and Settled pair M Vijay and Dravid struggling to score even after playing more than 20 overs. It was difficult for the team to score 86 runs in 15 overs. And Wes tIndies bowlers are not so generous that they would have not bowled negative bowling seeing India chasing. Also West Indies would have taken their own sweet time to see not to complete those 15 overs before the light been offered. This is test cricket and not T20 or ODI. Indian Team took the right decision and we should be happy with many top players missing and still we won T20 , ODI and Test series. Its time we look forward to England Series!

hate australians for cheating but love their
never say die spirit in all formats
wonder how dhoni has cheated Indians fans
86 in 15 overs,ok it is difficult in test matches but you can not be bowled out in 15 overs
if he think he has save the match then he should not be captain of no.1 test team

it was again Dravid and Laxman who performed...

Dravid once again match winning century... NZ series also it was his century which won the match ....

not like sachin who exposes tail enders after completing century

if Veeru sir were there ... we would have won 3-0

India didnt play like Number 1
by su da on Jul 11, 2011 12:22 PM  | Hide replies

Indian team in this series never played like a Number 1 test team in the world. Such a defensive approach in the 2nd and 3rd test. During Australia's dominance they would have won this kind of a series by 3-0 margin.

In 2nd test Dravid, Laxman and Kohli played so slowly that India didnt have the time to bowl out West Indies. They were thinking of first saving the test match then of a victory.Such a defensive approach from World number 1 team is not accepted.

In 3rd test match again killing instinct was missing during 9th wicket parternship of West Indies. Also while chasing there was never a thought of winning except the fact of promoting Raina.

Kohli, Raina should groom up to test cricket temperment.

Its not the player but defensive mindset of captain which cost the match.
He knows he is in team based on captaincy & not on playing ability.

Inspite of a depleted side, they showed strength and brought the No. 1 team down.

Kudos to Sammy, Chanderpaul and Edwards who fought hard. They dont have the good openers and often their weak batting is concern, but inspite of tht, they could bowl out India on so many occasions.

Hats off WI team.

I know 86 off 90 balls was very difficult to get after Raina's dismissal but I think we should have continued at least 5-10 overs more. The 2nd thing is M.Vijay and Dravid could score little bit faster.

Overall India played well throughout the series and rain saved westindies twice in the series.

Dhoni could have sent Raina at No. 3 and Kohli at No.4..result would be different. Time abd again it happened. This was same case in SA series last test as well and all are happy with 1-1 result.

But this is where a champion team should try to get that, dont worry abt result. Its only then, we deserve the No. 1 team. Remember we are playing against a weak team. If u would have tried and lose wickets, then anytime u can slow down as we have players like Dravid.

They were bowling a negative line. After reading through coach's statements, it does make sense. They did try to make it and when they realized they couldnt, they stopped. I dont see an issue. Cant remember an instance when a hlaf strength aussie team went after a total in test matches.

After 1st wicket fall on 1st ball, it was obvious that Dravid will come at 3. Then Raina came as expected but he failed. Now there was no fire power left to score 6 runs per over in a test where bolwers could any time bowl at negative line. But I think they should have continued few overs more.
