Sachin and Kalis
by Jayesh Mehta on Jan 07, 2011 01:30 PM

Sachin is the best but you should never forget that Kalis is also doing best. I give more marks to kalis because he is a allrounder. He has to perform on bowling and batting both. Where Sachin has to perform only in batting

where are the guys who were supporting SA yesterday

Umpiring was horrible as Kallis was plumb in front when he was 60 odd runs and they were only 200 runs away...

any1 thinking about a win...
by arvin g on Jan 06, 2011 10:37 AM  | Hide replies

forget it... at best india can draw the match... making 340 runs on last day pitch is out of question... specially when steyn and morkel will be on fire in the morning...
and any1 hoping to see sehwag score a brisk 100 well keep dreaming... sehwag highest score outside asia in winning cause is 47 runs... and sehwag average in sa is very poor 25 sumthing...
laxman will not work hard unless he is sure of a win or draw and get all the praise...which is not thecase here...
gambhir will hide behind injury...

Tigers at home, Cats away from home
by ccfan227@rediffmail.com on Jan 06, 2011 09:02 AM  | Hide replies

Our indian bowlers does not have history of good strike rate even Kapil dev.

Look at harbhajan singh, his strike is 10 overs/wicket.

Its high time, our cricket management invests money on producing bowlers who clock around 140mph . Also its not about clocking but bowling in right areas consistently in almost every test match like McGrath,Steyn,Hadlee,Lillee etc.

Our pace bowlers simply put a pathetic show compared to SA bowlers.

Now if we loose the match, we will be called tigers at home and cats away.

Unless Sehwag takes India to 100 /no loss till lunch, India cant win. Sehwag,Gambir,Laxman are the keys because unreliable Dravid(not in form and not a fast scorer),Tendya does not boast much reputation of making match winning/match saving innings in second innings.

Also, Laxman/Pujara should come 1 down

You need so much attention. Don't you? You posted this already.

Anyways, India already won a test in this series and "cats away from home" does not suit India.

Strategy to save match atleast
by ccfan227@rediffmail.com on Jan 06, 2011 08:59 AM  | Hide replies

1. Sehwag,Gambir should take India to 100 score till lunch. Clobber Steyn,Tsosbe,Harris
2.Laxman/Pujara 1 down incase a wicket is down.
3.Tailenders should contribute well each of them scoring fast 20
4.Dhoni should play responsibly.
5.The unreliable Tendya should be wary of his dismissals rate which are LBWs,Caught behinds in slips or wicket keeper. SA will definetly try to LBW or Caught behind him with fast paced good length or fullish inswingers or incoming rising deliveries etc.
6.Dravid should score fast

CCFAN:

Since your recipe is to Save the match, its very easy one step process:

1. Sehwag and Gambhir (the most reliable ones who never get LBW, Caught Behinds in slips or wicketkeeper) should play only 90 overs to save the match... :)

Anything wrong with the plan?

Gambhir will not bat. He has a broken hand.

If injured Kallis could play match saving innings for SA, do you really think Gambhir will sit back and watch?

Even if Gambhir does not open, he will come out to bat at 7 or 8 if India needs him to play out for a draw.

:) Since you are already here, if I may ask why does Laxman crack under the first innings pressure? :)

And why did Sachin NOT crack under second innings pressure at Centurion?

Just curious...

BTW, you sure would have been most disappointed with his "easy" 146 (which Sreesanth can score every 3rd match against Steyn, I know) on the garden pitch against rank newbies like Steyn; where India amassed the mammoth 886 runs total to win this test by an innings? ;)

Curious why didn't answer my question... :)

Having said that, I hadn't expected any reply either.. :)

And I don't even have to wait for next 10 hours to tell you that Laxman didn't perform under pressure of first innings again... :)

also, we need really a special innings from either of the players Gambir,Sehwag,Laxman or Pujara with tailender support to save match.

Pujara/Laxman should come 1 down to out think SA

India is NO.1 team.
by chirag foryou on Jan 06, 2011 08:46 AM  | Hide replies

We are No.1 test team in the world nowadays. But this is real test of our test team.

If we win this test, we are far ahead of this No1 ranking.

If we draw it, we are No.1.

If we loose, we must introspect our test team and not to fall in ranking.

Chirag ForYOU:

With all due respect to your message (which was an excellent one by the way); I see a logical fallacy..

If we win this test we are No. 1
If we draw it, we are the joint No. 1
If we lose, then I agree with you, we need to introspect

P.S.: A "Far ahead of this ranking" label requires a lot more than what we've displayed. Even the so-called (by Indian fans) 3rd rate Aussies defeated South Africa at home last year.
