Sachin has to score
by Gopal on Jan 06, 2011 02:00 AM  | Hide replies

He has to score another century to stay ahead of the game of centuries. If Sehwag can produce one then India has very good chance to win this test.

Gopal:

True... If Sachin's fail to score then there will be ONLY 12 more centuries Kallis has to score ... :)

Jokes apart; THIS is the time when every batter has to contribute... like when Laxman is supported at Mohali or Durban...
Else it will be Sachin's heroics alone; and critics will come out saying his centuries are "bad luck" for India; as if we could have chased down 480 in the 4th innings ever.. ;-)

Century or not, Sahcin and Sehwag will be top scorers for India in the fourth innings, followed by Laxman, Dravid, Dhoni and Pujara

Lets hope so.. Sehwag is downer for me now.. He can't bowl and he can't score on lively pitches and he himeself to blame for his decline. he had an opportunities and he threw it away by careless attitide....

Looks like this match will be a draw. Unless Viru fires straight away and others join in the run feast at a run a ball , a draw looks very much likely, OR a devastating spell of fast bowling from the two quicks may spell problems for INDIA.

All in all should be an engrossing play today

GARY:

A draw actually looks out of the question... On this type of a pitch, to merely survive for 90 overs without scoring - Not possible...

Seems like a do or die situation...

Pathetic pace bowlers
by prasheen mothukuri on Jan 06, 2011 01:22 AM  | Hide replies

Our pace bowlers are just pathetic considering they are such favorable conditions.

Zaheer did not bowl at his normal speeds.

And top of that as usual Sreeshanth is never consistent in every test match and gets carried way. He may end up as another Irfan/Balaji

And top of that, we have an headless Ishant sharma who dont know what he bowls.

Our pace bowlers simplly destroyyed winning situation by not giving support to super harbhahan spell when SA are 90/5.

We all dont know when are pace bowlers learn the art of bowling consistently(Atleast 80%) on good length area in every match just like SA,ENGLAND

Last Day At Cape Town
by Sanjaykumar Wawale on Jan 06, 2011 01:08 AM  | Hide replies

It will be very difficult to score 340 Runs on the last day.Kallis brought back S.A in this test. Anything beyond 275 is adifficult score to post. India should now try to save the match.

It is achievable if Sehwag stays on wicket. After he is out India shouldn't be playing for a win.

Remember the Port of Spain Test ?

134/1 at stumps on the 4th day. India won chasing over 400 runs in the fourth innings (then the highest chase in tests). Who will be Gavaskar, Mohinder, Vishwanath or Brijesh Patel tomorrow ? Scoring at 4 runs an over on first or second day is fine, but on a crumbling 5th days wicket ?

Whatever the result, it will be absorbing cricket. Kallis played the innings like Laxman played recently. (Remember him threatening the non-striker with his bat !?)

Sehwag plays and scores the fastest hundred (125) like Richards tomorrow (as he is being compared to him), follwed by Gambhir (50) - Smith & Steyn are in confusion what to do - Dravid anchors for a solid 65 Not Out & sachin finishes off the game with a 101 Not out - this is the way I want the Indians to win to show they are NUMBER ONE

India has the tools to win but does not have to prove anything
by M Alem on Jan 06, 2011 12:22 AM  | Hide replies

India is #1 because it has assembled the greatest batting line up ever in the history of the world. India has nothing to prove. There is no need to be too much aggressive and go for broke. Sehwag should try his onslaught. If he doe snot click then India has real depth to draw the test

OK. Let's see whether Sreesanth and Ishant get the promised batting break.
Given that we are in the situation largely due to their bowling it seems patently undeserving; but nevertheless..... ;)

Go for broke
by Sameer Bhagwat on Jan 06, 2011 12:21 AM  | Hide replies

India should go for broke , play it like an ODI. There is no way they will survive 90 overs on a 5th day pitch against Steyn and Morkel and the rest.

Poor support bowling by Ishant Sharma , if only someone like Munaf or Praveen Kumar or Pankaj Singh were picked instead by Srikanth the result may have been different.

Time to prove that India is the #1 Test side
by Shrikar D on Jan 06, 2011 12:16 AM  | Hide replies

If this is truly the #1 Test side in the world at the moment, I cannot think of a better time for India to vindicate that ranking than now! I’m forced to imagine how Steve Waugh’s side at the turn of the Millennium would have approached this target & I hope this Indian team goes out there with a similar aggressive mindset. The stage is tailor-made for an early Sehwag onslaught. Survival on that pitch for 90 overs against Steyn and Co. is impossible. The Indian batsmen might as well go for broke. It is what Champions are supposed to be made of – defeat should be unthinkable. Let us see if they do it. This fan is hoping that India does!

Shrikar D:

You have put your thoughts very crisply, they are clear and the reasoning behind them is very logical instead of the emotional, atyachar I have to regularly go through from the chest beaters on this forum.

I salute you and your message... :)

All the best to India; and all the best to the winning team (whoever plays the better cricket on the final day)!! :)
