I dont know why they left our very own Kapil Dev's Knock of 183. It is arguably one of the most memorable knock

Not to include Kapil Dev's 175 against Zimbabwe in 1983 World Cup is foolishness.

Gary Kirsten's 188
by Ananya Rajesh on Feb 16, 2011 07:47 AM  | Hide replies

Rediff is hopeless!!!! Kirsten's 188 is the highest score in WC. It was in 1996 WC against UAE. 188 from 159 balls... Get ur facts right.

rediff's analysis team is hopeless!!!
by Biswajyoti Borkakoty on Feb 16, 2011 03:45 AM  | Hide replies

If rediff includes Zimbabwe's Dave Houghton's innings (142 which was superb with lot of reverse sweeps... that was new at that time); Kapil's innings of 175 not out against Zimbabwe should come at the top of the list since it was the innings that ultimately lead to India's world cup triumph in 1983.

And you match Rediff's analysis team in terms of hopelessness ...

In case you knew ANYTHING about cricket, Zimbabwe was NOT playing Tests in 1983...

Arvinda Dsilva and Kapil Dev
by Sameer Bhagwat on Feb 16, 2011 03:38 AM

How could Rediff leave out Arvinda Desilvas knock in the final against Aus ? or Kapil Devs monumental innings.

Even Sachin 96 against Pakistan should be there. It was a career finishing innings of the two WW's.

Rediff needs some srious editors.

Big Big mistake to miss out on Kapil's innings. Should be way on top considering the circumstances.

Yes the innings was one of the greatest but Zinbabwe wasnt a test playing nation then (its not even now 1992-2004)

Would like to mention, Zimbabwe wa in good form that time, and they have defeated Australia too, and posing challenges for others, and India was already down at 17-5, when Kapl played this legendary innings.

Kapil Dev missing?
by Ganesh Iyer on Feb 16, 2011 02:35 AM  | Hide replies

How can Kapil Dev's 175 run innings in the 1983 World cup not be in this list?
He came in when the score was 17 runs with 5 wickets down; and then took the team to 260 with a blitzkrieg of a knock.

Yes Kapil's was a remarkable innings but this list here comprises of greatest innings against a test playing nation. Zimbabwe got that status only in 1992 (to loose it later in 2004) and wasnt a test playing nation at the time!

Yes they do but Lousy ones ;)
However here they are fine as Zimbabwe wasnt a test playing nation at the time and this list comprises of matches b/w test playing nations only.
