The writer of this article is brainless and fool
by kusum pandey on Feb 15, 2011 12:07 PM  | Hide replies

The writer of this article did not intentionally include the 175 not out knock of Kapil Dev that is declared as the second best knock in the word cup by the ICC best innings.

And did YOU intentionally not mention that Zimbabwe actually wasn't a Test playing nation? :)

It seems the writer of this article is a Bengali rather than an Indian.

Madam try and get over your regional biases, believe me its not difficult and would make your life better!

FYI Kapil Dev is one of the most loved cricketers in Bengal and he himself has acknowledged this. Its shocking though that his innings is not in the list.

Coming to being Indian, take a look at the list of freedom fighters who gave up their lives for India...your doubts would be cleared.

He can be a Kannad as well, dince Dravid's name is also there...
Y u guys are so biased and Ar,se,hol,e?
I also agree Kapil's knock deserves the place at the top

Pontings 140 in 2003 final
by Hari on Feb 15, 2011 12:03 PM

Scott Styris and Dave houghton in the great innings list, but not Ponting. This Ponting innings massacred the best Indian pace attack ever.

Kapil's 175* in 1983
by sandeep somvanshi on Feb 15, 2011 11:51 AM  | Hide replies

How can one forget 175* from a bowling allrounder who comes after India lost 5 wickets on 17. He first partnered with Binny for 60 runs (6th Wicket) then with Madanlal for 62 runs (8th Wicket) and unbroken stand of 126* with S Kirmani (9th Wicket).

Kapil hit 6 towering sixes with 16 fours in his inning with strike rate of 127 when no other batsmen from India had strike rate of more than 45.

How can any one following Cricket miss that kind of inning?

May be some readers think that inning was against minnows but hold on India had won only 1 match in 2 world cups before becoming 1983 champs.

Had Kapil not played that innings & made India win the game, we would have been OUT OF THE GAME at that time only.
Indian team's performance till that match was poor & would have been thrown out of contest.
Actually Kapil's knock MADE INDIANS WAKE UP & TAKE A SHOT AT THE WORLD CUP.

IS REDIFF HAVING ANY GRUDGE AGAINST HIM?

Correct. And given that East Timor WILL become a test playing nation in 2337 A.D., all scores against them too should be immediately listed above... :)
