Perfectly said CC, Dravid & Lax are the main players for India in tests. The rest are just paper tigers which get blown away easily.

:-)... Lax is a 2nd inning player. First creates pressure on Team India and then so called rescues.
Unfortunately this time both innings came cropper.

By rights we should have won this easy enuf. First innings we all saw what happened after Paper tiger departed on Day 2 end. We fell at least 100, if not 150 runs short.
Coupled with our inability to kill the tail when they were on the mat added another 50.
So we end up building pressure off ourselves and chase 290 instead of 190 (or lesser, coz Aus would have had more pressure in 2nd innings)..

But India and tactics are generally not even acquaintances. Hence this whole notion of Lax the savior!!

With due respect to Dravid, Laxman & Sachin, I feel it is now high time for them to retire. A totally different team combination to be tested with more youngsters in the team.

Sachin can retire anytime now. It is Lax & Dravid who are important & irreplaceable at this moment.

Failure of Dhoni as a bastsman
by Pallab Banerjee on Dec 29, 2011 07:05 PM

With an average of 27 and without a half century in Australia against the same team shows the calibre of our captain as a batsman. Also the repeated failures of our greatest batsmen in Australian, South African and English conditions have become so common that it really becomes difficult to believe that we can ever consistent number one test team, therefore a series loss even against a much weaker Australian side is also likely, the only positive aspect would be that now we two fast bowlers who can bowl over 150 kph

Let us accept it. We will win 1-0 at home and lose 2-0, 3-0 or 4-0 abroad against Aus and England or even NZ.

No excuse this time please.
by alexander alex on Dec 29, 2011 06:31 PM

When this team played in England a few months back the big excuse was that 7 front line players were injured. In this test all those front line players were fit but still they lost. I dont think there can be any excuse for the poor show. This team is only strong on paper.

Dont let one defeat degrade indian batsmen records!
by sandeep kumar on Dec 29, 2011 06:09 PM  | Hide replies

Wow, its just been one match and already we can sense the tone of negativity that the series is gonna be lost. Tendulkar is on he verge of 100 100s, sehwag recently got a world record 200 in a odi, gambhir and virat are among the best young batsmen in this world. It always takes time to acclimatise to a new series, and I am sure in sydney team India will bounce back. And dont forget that ponting got lucky twice in his 62. Else the aussies would have been 50 odd for 5, and india would have around 120 odd to chase. So its little things that needs to go our way, and fyi, india is no2 and aussies no5!!

Dear Sandeep, Dont go behind numbers and records..they can't help to reverse results...Gambhir's technique will be again tested in Sydney..his angled bat may edge even more no.of times unless he leaves those deliveries alone..Sehwag can be a match winner or loser...Of the lot Sachin looked the best...Rahul should regain his technique soon..I was most disappointed when he got out..as there was a huge gap between bat and pad.

Forget positions, they were 27/4. What did our captain do? He set a defensive field for Aussies and helped them score runs.
All batsmen of India (except Dravid) are flat track bullies..... What is the use of records if it does not help for victory? U say Ponting got lucky twice. How do u account for the dropped catches and wrong umpiring decisions which benefited India?

Dear Sandeep, you seem to be a citizen OF planet "dead-placid-wickets-with-no-bounce-" which...surprise, surprise...all of our hopeless, shameful, inadequate,air-headed batsmen come from....How on earth could you justify a bunch of cricketers who are only apt at scoring runs in the subcontinent...it's high time you relocate to planet earth, where you'd be much closer to reality...

Turning point of the match..Sachin getting out on end of second day...otherwise things would have been different. I have been following cricket for 20 years or more...One thing is sure..India can't chase any total in excess of 150 in Aus, Nzl, Eng or SA..Reason...they build too much pressure on themselves while batting...I don't think Gambhir and Kohli should be playing in 2nd test ahead of Rohit..Rohit is sheer Class and one need to groom him for future...One more thing to say...Indian pace bowlers did extremely well..keep it up.

The worst of them are Dhoni (he can't even take decisions as a captain of this side), Gambhir, Laxman and Sehwag. Dhoni and Gambhir are only good on dusty tracks of India. Drop them immediately

Jacqueline Fernandes, not much difference whether Raju Saraswat plays or I play or you play or Dhoni plays. When the team performs, captain gets the good name. When nobody performs, he gets the bad name. Thats all!!

If Sachin was the ONLY batsman who looked good, why did he not stay till the end? Dravid was not at his best, but still scored runs. That is the difference between quality and quantity!!

I have never heard Ian Chappell so much biased against the australian team.
Both on Channel 9 and Star cricket his commentary looked /felt like he wanted the aussies to lose.
The best commenatary was by bill Lawry as usual he was neutral and supporting good cricket regardless of who was playing
