Ganguly started political games when he was dropped. Before that he was just carrying on in the Indian team without any performances. Slow and weak fielder, worse running b/w the wickets limited offside batsman, and no bowling talent. I dont know what contribution he was making to the team.
In ODIs where 275 runs were being made and chased regularly.. slow tortoises like him simply had no place. Dravid was slow too but he could do wicket-keeping to justify his place.
We cannot keep players in the team whose only job is to do "aggressive captainship". He was simply incapable in the new format.
I am very sure if we compare India's performance after Ganguly was removed.. one would see marked improvement.. as Chappel brought in Gambhir, Suresh Raina etc.. This was his greatest contribution to Indian cricket.
I salute him. He could not achieve anything but at least he cleaned the mess.

there are many and he still continue to influence like he wants his sate player as replacement for sharma

as soon as he got dropped he started running to Pawar. Dalmiya etc. Many people get dropped. They dont make such fuss.
And looking at one year performance at that time, dropping him was justified. Team was doing well due to Sehwag, Sachin, and new guys like Gambhir, Yuvraj etc. This guy was just carrying on with the excuse of an 'aggressive captain' and 'successful captian'

He took a one bounce catch of Gilly in 2003 wc finals and appealed. Such things or the thing like he refused to carry drinks on aus tour in 92 , the media does not highlight

true even when india were winning consecutively in that period we had likes of maninder singh kirti azad etc alwys sitting in the studios and one point agenda was to criticise chappell. These former indian players were jealous that chappell got the coach job but not them
The best thing Chappel did was to get rid of slow tortoise ganguly..who did not perform with the bat, bowl and was a very bad filder and worse runing b/w the wickets.

You are also mad like chappel ashish... ganguly scored centuries, mom even in the retiring series...ganguly is the on ly captain before dhoni to dominate with performabnces year asfter year .. series after series...

For your information Raju...Ganguly before being removed scored only 1 century in that whole year.. and that too against Kenya. His ODI average for that year was 17.
He scored centuries only in the initial part of his career when the opposition did not put up extra fielders o the off-side.
He was able to dominate only because good players like Sehwag and Sachin were performing in the team.
dada is bull. is technique is questionable. He was never confy with pacers nor on on side field play. He was a horrible captain and an arrogant personalilty. Greg chappel failed to read indian mentality of putting oneself before the country.

you aussie fan boys ganging up against ganguly is not going to belittle him. All you can do is vent your frustrations. He was a thorn in your masters flesh. Deal with it.

And he made a comeback, played exceptionally and retired on his own terms. Chappel was thrown out as australian selector, deal with that now!!

Come back by giving a BJ to Pawar and Dalmiya. Dalimiya is the only reason (family freind) dada was there. Deal with that as well. Man ur hands are full.

Your south Indian sentiments are taking a hit because he was the guy who brought Indian cricket to the place where it is today. Dravid was a pussy and never had the abilities as a captain nor to speak up. So, gather some courage and don't just think about being regional everytime.

not done by chappel sorry. Dhoni, Irfan, Yuvraj, Kaif, Munaf, zaheer, gambhir all came before chappel because ganguly pulled them in. Kohli, Rohit, pujara, umesh, etc all came after chappel left. Only players chappel picked was Raina and sreesanth. Infact he was so partial to raina, he kept him in the team even when he was failing continuously. It was only later after chappel left and raina was dropped, that raina returned and started playing properly.
