Cricket is not T-20 and one day definitely
by Sagar Raghavan on Dec 15, 2011 11:41 AM

T-20 is going to kill the game, and One day has only made the game better, but test match cricket is what needs skill, concentration and perseverance.

For a generation, that dwells in fast forward lane, short cuts, instant mixes, instant pleasures,
age has a way of catching up which will show the merits of slowness, carefulness, maturity, and many such qualities.
Result of sport is important and I guess the One day cricket is definitely bringing that quotient into test match cricket. Matches are seeing a transformation in the way the teams look at targets and scores.
Test match is important otherwise you will see idiots throwing bat at everything.
Virtues that are achieved in maturity can never be got in youth. Test cricket is the same. Test match is like life and T-20 is just the birthday celebrations in it.
And as far as Rahul Dravid goes, people who have no knowledge on cricket seem to be growing in the Rediff discussions... I think he is rare human being, a great orator, simple man, a great family man, a great fighter, a great slip fielder, a great thinker and also a great leader for his teammates, and he needs more credit than those simpletons who have no knowledge on cricket.

He should have dared to say this when he was in one day squad. Now he is retired from One dayer, His comment now is like croaking frog from deep well. Be prudent and try to be like Daring Annaji. He is the present darling of every patriotic indians.

Idiot, he was not asked to comment when he was playing ODIs. He is not a media boy to call a press meet and announce it! And it is the fans who decide what is boring. When crowds dont turn up for matches, it is anyone's guess about what is meaningless.

wise man. Did BCCI asked his comment on the ODIs? What is the necessity for him to talk about it now and that too after the WI series? Definitely One day matches are more crowd puller than Test. Once the series is finalised, the remaining matches will definitely have poor crowd but the concerned cricket association have already pocketed the money from sponsors. Its only loss of profit.

P.S.: do you know one thing? Your speech/writing exposes your character.

FYI, he is not born to BCCI to listen to them 24/7. He was asked to give a speech. Rediff just copy-pasted some parts of the speech and you people are arguing about that. Read his full speech, u will find in some better site than Rediff.
And he is right in saying there are too many ODIs. I am not sure if u agree or not, BCCI has a compressed schedule with 7 ODIs (at times). He is suggesting to minimize the ODIs, thereby giving the players some rest.
We went to Eng in Jul-Aug, they came to India in Sep-Oct. Dont u think number of matches could have been reduced? Please dont make the mistake of calling him frog, spineless, etc.

PS: do you know one thing? Your speech/writing shows there is more hate than logic.

Lack of crowd in stands shows one day cricket is losing appeal.

Agree with Rahul
by gegong apang on Dec 15, 2011 11:27 AM

With advent of T20, one day cricket is loosing it's sheen. ICC has to reduce the number of one day matches. Otherwise teams may have to play for empty stands in future.

ACTUALLY CRICKET IS NOT AT ALL SPORTS. 60% OF INDIANS LOVE FOOTBALL. THAT’S WHY ONE DAY CRICKET AND T-20 CRICKET ARE SO POPULAR.

You are nuts?

Surely the proud indian cricket bcci will be doomed by losing matches hereafter both in Australia and in coming series.

India will be have IpL type football teams and football will become prominent sport. Cricket will be doomed. You have seen WI performance in Recent ODI they almost won every match inspite of being weak team.
