What a saint

Define meaningless, Mr. Dravid. Is playing 5 days of test cricket with no guarantee of a result meaningful? Look at the empty stands for test cricket and and you will get the answer. What is the role of sports in our lives other than providing entertainment for the spectators and livelihood for the players. No need to complicate this simple equation by injecting new "meanings" and definitions. People watch what they want to watch just. If there is too much cricket then people will look for other avenues for entertainment.
Surely you made your fortune playing these "meaningless" games. Let other deserving talents in the country make their fair share. Meanwhile you just sit back and enjoy your "retirement".

it is because of the condition of indian pitches. It is because of the BCCI's greed for money.

I think he is right...Test Cricket is the best format...Legends and gr8 players are made in Test cricket not in the commercial formats....

Empty Stadiums
by Shrikar D on Dec 15, 2011 01:15 AM  | Hide replies

Empty stands definitely don’t make for good TV. But, going to a match at a stadium in India is such an ordeal that the average man on the street has started to stay away from it. Unless, one is willing to cough atleast Rs.10000 it is impossible to be guaranteed a comfortable experience at the stadium on match-day. The lower-priced ticket-holders are treated like cattle & herded around with scant respect. How can one imagine taking one’s family to such an experience? The key is to keep the ticket prices low and provide adequate amenities at the venue. If that is done, one could even go as far as a TV blackout over the city hosting the match until & unless at least 80% of the tickets are sold thus encouraging fans to go watch the game live.

Then again it is not as if the BCCI doesn’t know all this. It is just that they don’t care. And the results are there for all to see.

rightly said. these high headed people are after making money. for them common man is a \'thing\'. and they treat him like that. it is everywhere in india. no respect for ordinary individual. one day people will start slaughtering such authorities. i am happy that stadiums are empty. people waste time, energy, they block roads and unnecessary gather for such matches. it is destroying spirit of civilisation.

Dravid is having high time and phase
by cc man on Dec 15, 2011 12:22 AM  | Hide replies

Dravid is having high time, phase after some great performances in all conditions this year especially in England. His performances in England will remain as best batting coach manuals for generations to come. Right person to give oration this year. Hail!!!!! Sehwag,Sangakkara, Dravid, Kallis,Cook etc and Disdain!!! Tendya for not possessing the nerves, temparment, aggressiveniss to be consistent in delivering big knocks and also delivering when needed and not delivering in good conditions like England etc. If Tendya does not improve his game to retire at avg of 59 , he will be always disdained as opposed to hailing of Gilcrist,Dravid,Sehwag,Gilchrist,Sangakkara etc

Drawid is the reason for Indias loss in England , his stonewalling and leaving almost every ball put the other batmen under pressure to score and compensate for one dead end.

Anybody can build up a high average by playing only a ball with a 0.05 % chance of getting out.
