Can our politicians learn from Rahul
by counter allegations on Dec 15, 2011 04:00 PM

Instead of taking a archaic concept of oath, our politicians should instead undergo lie deector test against at least top 10 allegations against them. Lie dector test is about 80% accourate. So even if they come clan in 6-8 tests, it will be good.

if politicians are afraid, then we can assure them that no criminal action would be initiated against them based on these tests, but atleast public will come to know what those politicians rally stand for.

1000% right TEST CRICKET is THE ONLY CRICKET rest is the game of either those who do not know cricket or less talented. T20 is like GILLY DANDA .Test Cricket should only be considered as CRICKET.

any form of cricket is only cricket...there is no distinction on test cricket or one day or 20-20 other than the level of aggression and capabilty of a cricketer to act at the situation...till the time u play with bat and bowl with the basic rules in place it is cricket...in today world of high speed and lack of time...who can go out and watch 5 days...its j0ke...make soccer a game of 1 day instead of 45 min...the passionof the game is lost....almost all games are short and sweet and 20/20 or to that extent one dayer is ok...and good cricket..

The much respected may perhaps represent the writing on the 'WALL'. cricket has come to stay as mass game; it is good for the nations rudderless youth to enjoy their life. Let sports planners find out how world soccer solved all these teething problems

Lets have a 1000 T-20 matches and we are sure going to give football an opportunity to fare better in India, and I do wish the same. First of all it is boring and second it madness, with little intelligence and skill. So i wish BCCI starts to put a 1092 T-20. i.e 3 matches a day x 365 days and guess we will an appetite for other sports and events.

good that you didnot add venkatesh prasad to the list. i could never figure out as why he has to come running (for balling) from Boundary - if he had to ball at 10/15 km/h :)

If u can read, read the article carefully,he never said to stop playing ODIs,he is asking to reduce the number of meaningless ODIs that the teams are playing instead of concentrating on tests.

The times these players played there was no T-20 which is killing the game in many ways. T-20 is not cricket for the talent, as we have how the T-20 specialists have shown in test matches. The skill of intelligence, cunningness, street smartness and skill can seen in a test match. The T-20 looks like a slugger in a boxing ring and where the bowler has to bowlto get hit. If you want to see T-20 you should play on centurion or the Perth pitch. where the ball does a lot and the batsman can showcase their skills. That is where a batsman of Dravid skills come into place, not on the dead as a dodo pitches of India. We needed Dravid to play in England fr the Onedays.Sad but true...Something for a player who has to prove even after 300 Onedays...Great players such as Dravid just need a occassion to prove their skills... not time...or age.... he is a gem and deserves all the praise.. Excessive cricket is killing cricket.. it is better to see the EPL football in England...

Result oriented Test Matches
by Ganesh V on Dec 15, 2011 01:01 PM  | Hide replies

Why people don't come to watch test matches is because there is no guarantee of the result. You slog it for 5 days and in the end no team wins. Make it 2 innings of 125 overs each for both sides and see the result. 125 overs is sufficient for any player to show his skills. Moreover, we don't want 1 sided match...one team scoring 600 runs and another not even 200.

That is not entirely true. The days are gone where batsmen used to bore spectators with slow cricket and drawn test matches. Now with so much in favour of batsmen, the bowlers are able to force results. So test matches are real entertainment now a days. On the other side, ODIs and T20s so batsmen oriented there is no real fun watching some big hitter after some time.

one has to respect legend's comment on ODI but why such comment after playing 344 ODI by himself? Any sour grapes for being a part of 2011 indian world cup winning team.

His point is ODI and T20s are so much in favour of batsmen, they tend to loose the competitive element. Whereas in Tests, with so much of time at their disposal, both the batsman and bowlers are able to experiment and make it more exciting. With introduction of technologies such as UDRS, Hotspot it is getting even more competitive for the bastsmen. Dravid is absolutely right about the mad schedules of the ODI, planned by various boards, especially BCCI.

If after playing 344 ODIs, dravid is not qualified to make the comments, who else do you thing is more apt? Some whacko with less than 50 ODIs experience? Now a days a resonably good player gets to play 50 ODIs in less than 2 years.
