@Anna
Your last line is absolute perfect. In Bradman's era there were many other great batsmen but we remember only one. So after 100 years people will remember only Sachin and no one else.
Don't see what he has not achieved see what he has achieved.......which is more than any captains across the world Ricky will be remembered for his batting and of course captaincy, he has won 2 world cups and many cups for Australia with excellent batting record. He would be a satisfied player at the end of his carrier. I don't like him as a person, but we should admit he is genuinely great player.

o duffer , world cup ,( of one day , or luck day cricket ) is not world cup, test cricket is real cricket , no luck there.....
ponting alone cud not won , how can sachin win alone.
Re: Re: dont fight
by Raghu Rangaswamy on Oct 19, 2010 02:56 PM
There seems to be serious lack of bowling talent, that we can win world cup if tendy bats well, bowls well and fields for 3or 4 players.
Re: Re: Re: dont fight
by Sameer on Oct 19, 2010 03:00 PM
yes , which is why tendy needs to score 150 plus runs every match. Basically we need the batsmen to score 400 plus scores on a consistant basis.
Tendy / Viru should be the ones we have to look to for getting this.
Bowlers are pathetic as of now. Just 2-3 years ago, India seemed to have been blessed with awesome bowling talent. Now the same bowlers are shade of themselves
Re: Re: Re: Re: dont fight
by naveen dhanerwal on Oct 19, 2010 04:13 PM
boss..if we do make 400 runs in every match our bowlers will still lose the match for us! Remember the match against Sri Lanka? We had almost lost the match defending 414 runs in that match. Out bowling and fielding is pathetic! Except it and live in peace!
Good that writer has agreed what me or any other users here are saying. All these 10000s of run or tons of centuries are at best mediocore if this does not help country win a wc or any other worthwhile cup

5. He was part of the Indian team which won the Asia Cup in more than one occasion. 6. He was part of the team which stopped the 16 test winning streak of Australia first in 2001, and then again in 2008.

Asia cup you and i know is played by 2-3 countries worth mentioning (India - SL - Pak) Pakistan of late is a horrible team. Breaking winning streak of Aus is not worth mentioning...no big deal...

1. He was part of the Indian team which won ICC Champions Trophy in 2002 (combinely with Sri Lanka). 2. He is part of the team which is currently at the top of the ICC Test Ratings for over an year now.

Other worthwhile cups ?
1. Sachin was a part of the team which won ICC Champions Trophy in 2002 (along with SL). 2. Sachin is the part of the team which is holding the number 1 spot in ICC Test ratings for an year. 3. Sachin was part of the team which won VB series in 2008 in Australia. 4. Sachin was part of team which stopped Australia's 16 test winning streak first in 2001 and then in 2008. 5. when will this porki understand that cricket is a team game and that a single player howsoever great he is can never win a tournament single handedly.... but this great man led india to the finals of 2003 finals almost single handedly where our bowlers suddenly thought that they are out of the world and became overly aggressive and got plundered all around the park and conceded 360 odd runs... this is how the team has let down sachin...
Re: Re: Write does agree with our views
by Venkat Bhat on Oct 19, 2010 03:21 PM
Well said. Zaheer got over aggressive and gifted away runs from very first over, which spoiled our chances in the world cup final. Sachin has scored more than 600 runs in that world cup tournament, which even today is the highest number of runs scored by any player in any world cup.
1. Sobers is the greatest cricketer not Sachin.. 2. Sir Don is the geatest batsman 3. Imran is the best captain (Sachin does not even feature in the list of good captains) 4. Warne is the best spinner 5. Sir Hadlee is the best pacer
Where Sachin or any other Indian fits in ?? There is not best ... or greatest ... left to be attributed to sachin ...
Re: Simple summary
by Panipuri on Oct 19, 2010 03:07 PM
All nonsense and craps .... Sachin doesnt need to prove to you that he is all time greatest in cricket
Re: Simple summary
by Against Pseudos on Oct 21, 2010 04:46 AM
Zidane
How can Sir Don be the greatest batsman, Imran be the best captain, Warne be the best spinner and Hadlee be the best pacer when Sobers already is the greatest cricketer?
Re: Simple summary
by kishore reddy on Oct 19, 2010 03:54 PM
a message for you zidane....do you remember a film by the title 'ramgopal varma ki aag'. if yes, then the same crap will be called as classic after 20 years.Sir Don might have the highest avg but do remember that he was playing against only 2-3 teams thru out and mostly against england. what were the competition levels at that time. Comming to sobers, he was a great cricketer but not all time best and the same applies to every dept and every player.Hence, don't go by sheer nonsense logics to spit ur venom against SRT abd India.
Re: Simple summary
by Veer on Oct 19, 2010 02:06 PM
So what you wana say buddy?? Don is the best batsman...who will disagree?? But that doesnt make Sachin not worthy of playing cricket.. .By the way, who prepared this list?? It just shows your ignorance. If you workship Lord Shiva, that doesnt mean that Lord Rama, Lord Krishna etc should be ignored. Its your list nd you be happy with the list. I am sure that you have not seen atleast 4 of the five in the list playing in theur prime. Still you prepare such idotic list nad came here for argument...Shame on you!!!..
Re: Simple summary
by Comment Master on Oct 19, 2010 02:42 PM
You are correct but only wants to remind you that the greatest batsman from your list Sir Don bradman has complimented Sachin. Even your best spinner Warne admitted that Sachin Batting is his nightmares. Imran is also confessed that he is Special after seeing his hitting to Abdul Kadir (1st tour of Sachin). Gary Sober recently said that Sachin is Right choice for ICC Crickter of year 2010. I think so it is enough to make you understand why Tendulkar is one of the Greatest Player?????
Re: Great players need just one chance to rise to the occasion..
by zidane on Oct 19, 2010 01:58 PM
Excellent point. I do agree. If people Sachin is great or super star, one chance should have been enough. Think of Ronaldo (Brazil) or Gillie (Aussies in WC of 5-6 good nations)
Re: Re: Great players need just one chance to rise to the occasio
by Chaturchuramoni Chatterjee on Oct 19, 2010 02:06 PM
You are saying only about Ronaldo, what about Lionel Messi, Christiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Oliver Kahn, Luis Figo, Van Nistelrooy etc etc ? They haven't won a World Cup (yet) either. So they are/were not superstars ?
Re: Great players need just one chance to rise to the occasion..

Sorry. Wrong information. Arvinda, Amarnath, Kapil, Imran and all other cricketers too have failed numerous times.... so please correct your theories about choking/non-choking/failure/success...
Re: Great players need just one chance to rise to the occasion..
by Veer on Oct 19, 2010 01:37 PM
What you expected in 2003 WC final?? Sachin scored 200 when you chase 360 odd runs?? It was impossible in that time with only one powerplay. And at that time in 2003, even chasing 325 runs was a mirical..remember the natwest trophy??
Re: Re: Great players need just one chance to rise to the occasio
by naveen dhanerwal on Oct 19, 2010 01:46 PM
@ Desi.. ..and what the hell rest 10 were doing their; scratching their balls? When Ganguly knew clearly that Sachin is batting incredibly why the hell he didn't chose bat first? No, but all you want chased down a mamoth total (360, never been chaced down at that time), against Macgrath and Lee and that too in a world cup final! You sure have some sense of real cricket man!
Re: Re: Re: Great players need just one chance to rise to the occ
by naveen dhanerwal on Oct 19, 2010 01:48 PM
and what more in 1996 semi final, chasing some 250 score he made 65 and gave india a good start; what happened then? What did the rest do in that game? Of course Sachin didn't choke in that game or will you say he should have batted till the last ball of the match because rest all the player in theam are impotent?
As a player if ur not able to win a world cup. Then dat player is playing for which cup.He can just make personal records dats it or he can wait for a good team which can help him to be a part of winning team
Re: tell me
by Vivek on Oct 19, 2010 01:25 PM
FYI, Cricket is a team game. Not Tennis... Every individual has to contribute for the winning cause. If you are referring Sachin, then you are wrong. He contributed his best in all the world cups he played so far... prominently 2003 world cup
Re: Re: tell me
by rajiv sharma on Oct 19, 2010 01:31 PM
It means dat for last 21 years only sachin tendulkar is performing and all other players in d team were not performing nd dats why v r not able to win world cup
Re: Re: Re: tell me
by Vivek on Oct 19, 2010 01:42 PM
I maintain my stand... Cricket is a team game. You can't blame an individual. I never said, others failed. I tried to say that Sachin has been playing his part. I ask you back one question. Do you mean bcos of Tendulkar's failure, Team India couldn't win a world cup? To win, we need to perform in all depts.. batting, bowling and fielding.... Beyond this, there is a luck factor which plays major role especially in Finals. No one expected India would win the 1983 world cup, WI was far more powerful team. But we brought out our best and shined well in all dept...
if they did not win Mahabharata, who is federer without Grandslams (although he has the most no. of other titles, they dont count), who is maradona without 86 win, who is Schumacher without 7 title wins, who is tiger woods without the major wins, no one.......yes no one
And someone who scores a lac is no one in cricket unless he wins a WC...thats the way it is...winners take all
Re: Who are Pandavas
by RANJITH KUMAR on Oct 19, 2010 02:15 PM
Then as per your view great footballers like Figo, Beckham, Socrates, Platini, johan cruyff and a long list awaiting are useless!!!! But they remain in our hearts of football fans more than many of the world cup winning team players!!!Similarly Sachin will be there in the hearts of all cricket fans until the game lasts!!!
Re: Who are Pandavas
by Against Pseudos on Oct 21, 2010 04:53 AM
Amrit
Pandavs are 5 brothers
Federer is a miserable loser to Nadal and Murray
Maradona is a drug addict who was recently kicked out as the coach
Tiger Woods is a sex maniac who is kicked out by his wife
And kindly don't call Sir Don Bradman, Sir Garfield Sobers, Sir Richard Hadlee, Erapalli Prasanna, Chandrashekhar, Kevin Pietersen, Brian Lara and host of other talented players as a "no one in cricket"...
Re: Who are Pandavas
by Veer on Oct 19, 2010 01:30 PM
One more Idiot on the block.... Dear Amrit, its easy to win the top honour in an indivisual game than in team game, bcoz it only takes your talent to win. But in a team game, especially cricket, you need bowllrs to win matches. Had all 5 pandavas been the best in their respective fields, they cant win mahabarata. If Brazil and Argentina had a week mid field and defence, Pale and Maradona wont have enjoyed that success bcoz they would have conceeded more goals than what both could score. And Fedrer, schumacher and woods were the best in their sport. And so is Sachin. Only thing is that Sachin has to depend on talents of other 10 people to succeed. The above said greats require only their talents. Even Don has not won any WC, but still we consider him great. Similarly he has not scored a double in ODIs, but still he is great. I know ODIs was not played then and neither was WC played.
Re: Re: Who are Pandavas
by amrit on Oct 19, 2010 05:22 PM
Mr Veer, we are talking of greatness. Plz check if you think '86 Argentina squad a 100 percent...individual games do influence the result....take for example the Mohali test...individuals can maneuver a team towards victory...if ever in life u get a chance to be team man you will know it urselves :)
if this is the case than..Lara even coun;t make WI in to final once neither could Kallis! Does that mean they are just good for nothing? Since the last three years Aussies are wining the WC's and that shows how good they are as a team. There have been players who came and gone for them, likes of Warne, Lee, Waugh bro's etc but they got players talented enough. It'll be interesting to see how they perform in upcoming WC. They don't have spinner like Warne now, a destroyer likes of Saymo or Gilly ( the best WK) and they also don't have that accuracy and killing power in their pace attack what they had in Macgrath and lee and Fleming and Gillespi! So..let's see if Ponting can win a WC this time too! BTW, if Ponting is that much better than Sachin..how couldn't he win a series or match in India even after playing 14 test matches?
Re: is wining the WC is the last criteria to judge a player?
by Veer on Oct 19, 2010 01:09 PM
Well Said....Jaysuria won the WC, but he was never a great player like sachin, lara or ponting...Sunil Gav won the WC, but what was his contribution in that WC?? So, WC cant be the criteria...Besides, Ricky,s record in 1999 WC whic they won itself speaks the story...
Re: is wining the WC is the last criteria to judge a player?
by rajiv sharma on Oct 19, 2010 01:11 PM
who says dat ponting is better dan sachin tendulkar. Its just ponting has won d world cups nd he is second to sachin tendulkar as far as batting is concernd
ponting has made all the runs as a captain where as sachin has never been under any sort of pressure. As a captain he failed because sachin cant handle d pressure of captainancy.Inspite of dis in todays world ricky ponting is second to d legendery cricketr sachin tendulkar.
Re: sachin vs ponting
by Veer on Oct 19, 2010 01:03 PM
Are bewakoof Rajiv, Captaincy is a different thing...Sachin was never a great captain...that doesnt mean he is not the best batsman. Even Lara was not a great captain, nd not won any WC, so is lara an ordinary player?? Nd pressure of captaincy..if ponting feels that he cant handle that, y dont he just leave captaincy to clark?? who is forcing him to carry on??
Re: Re: sachin vs ponting
by rajiv sharma on Oct 19, 2010 01:09 PM
I agree wid u dat sachin is d best batsman b ut iam saying dat he was not a good captain.Where as ponting is a gud captain as well as batsman dats it
Re: Re: sachin vs ponting
by Sameer on Oct 19, 2010 01:12 PM
Maybe , and Maybe not
But why make him a captain while you can let him be a run wrecking machine. The kind of form he is in, combined with the kind of form Viru and laxman(in tests) are in, a monkey could be the captain and still win matches.
Ofcourse this also depends on the mood of our bowlers , if they are good enough to pick 20 wickets or pick 10 wickets in the 2nd batting innings of the opposition
