Give The Man A Break
by Sanjay Roy on May 13, 2010 07:02 PM  | Hide replies

There seems to be a barrage of criticisms aimed at the M S Dhoni. While his comments post the debacle are quite silly...why blame him only for what happened there. It is the Captain's job to defend his team and he has tried his best to do that....The real blame should fall into the hands of the Indian selectors. They picked a terrible team. Players in form were ignored. There is very little justification for not including players like Robin Utthappa, Pragyan Ojha, Virat Kholi, Amit Mishra and Irfan Pathan. I do not understand how Piyush Chawla, Yuvraj Singh, Yusuf Pathan, Dinesh Karthik and Ravindra Jadeja find a place in this team as they had very little to show in the last few months. Piyus Chawla was certinly not the best bowler in IPL..in fact he was not even near it. Yuvraj needs to get back into shape. He is a class player but seems to be badly unfit. Robin Uthappa could have been looked at instead of Karthik as he can double up as a wicket keeper also and has played remarkably well...Ravindra Jadeja had nothing to show in IPL as he was banned..so no one had any clue about his form and the less said about Yusuf the better. He is a one match onder who may or may not perform. Irfan would have been a better choice as he seems to be coming back into form and is a good striker of the ball. The only criticism I have of Dhoni is he has not at all innovated & looked jaded. I think some players have taken their place for granted & they should be shown th

CRICKET
by IYER HARIHARAN on May 13, 2010 06:56 PM

As far as Cricket is concerned, India stands nowhere. We should have no hope. In case of unfortunate failure of the opposite team, of-course, we can win. Hence please give up the hope that we can win world cup.

Unless and until, the whole mechanism in our Cricket Board is changed, please do not have any hope and only pray God allowing the opposite team to do the mistakes.

No one is going to Die
by RAKESH DOGRA on May 13, 2010 06:54 PM  | Hide replies

These words were spoken by Klusner when he failed to take South Africa in final of the world cup.I do not know why we are crying over loosing.
Why we do not accept the fact that on fast pitches we simply stand no chance to win exept for some miracle like the way Pakistan got in to Semifinal.
In 1983 also we won just because West Indies played(batted) poorly.Did we win afetr that so why cry now as if we will continue to win because we won it in 2007.Let us find real problems and try to solve rather crying over split milk.

Mr Dogra Stop there Pls do not even compare 1983 World Cup winning team with this bunch of jokers. We had not won once, but twice against Windies in that tournament and remember the team under Kapil were the first team to hand out a defeat to Windies in a ODI that was in Berbice when we toured Windies before 1983 WC It should be seen to be believed, how Kapil took the catch to dismiss King Richards, Srikkanth's array of strokes, particularly a brutal six off Andy Roberts, Sandhu, clean bowling Desmond Haynes, and Kapil's innovative thinking of keeping sunny in the slips, all through the Windies' innings
Do u know that in the semi finals, against England, Mohinder and Kirti Azad gave away only 30 odd runs in 20 overs when Botham was in
So pls excuse to deny ur comments, Pls do not drag 1983 WC winning teanm in this

Whom to Blame?
by Anwar Mulani on May 13, 2010 06:48 PM

There were other international team players in the IPL.The Srilankans were played well in the IPL and partied shoulder to shoulder with our players. Why were they not tired? The english and the australians were able to reach Semi Finals even though they played IPL.The IPL is a now become a good reason for the failure of the indian cricket team. The players played misrably and lack of team efforts, bad captaincy decision made India out of the WC.

These statements attribute to the Indian team downfall
by Madrassi Madrassa on May 13, 2010 06:02 PM  | Hide replies

1. MS Dhoni, Harbhajan and Zaheer Khan - IPL is better than World cup
2. Most of the indian cricketers - T20 (Specifically IPL) is better than ODIs and test
3. MS Dhoni - There is nothing wrong in not knowing how to play on lively pitches and unable to bowl fast!
4. Srikanth - MS Dhoni is the most brilliant captain!
5. Gavaskar - Just like Aussies and South Africans are good at playing in lively pitches, we are really good at flat pitches!

and so on......Is there no stop for defencing oneself?

Dhoni & Men deserved this
by RAJESH T on May 13, 2010 06:01 PM  | Hide replies

This loss is what they deservved. Dhoni's arrogance & callous behaviour betrays his patriotic claims. His casual talk clearly shows his total disregard for the resposibilities bestowed on him. Its high time that this arragant captain whose interest for money & bikes is much more than winning glories for India be sacked and showed the door. A few others also need to be reminded that they should not take their place for granted. These are Yuvraj(still carrying an injury and hence not taking risks while batting & fielding), Harbhajan(his figures while performing for India is deteriorating as is clear from his figures in the t20 champioships where he bowled in 5 matches without getting a single wicket) , Jadeja(neither a class batsman nor a class bowler, so why burden the team with his presence). Otherwise an early first round exit in the world cup next year is very much on the cards. Infact as Shastri suggested its high time India ropes in few young blood who have a passion to win glory for the country. The ideal 11 for next year's world cup would be Sachin,Sehwag,Raina (Captain),Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli,Robin Uthappa (Wicket Keeper),Yusuf Pathan,Prgyan Ojha,Zaheer,Praveenkumar & Nehra. The other 4 members would idealy be Sourab Tiwary,R.Ashwin,Vinay Kumar and Dinesh Karthik. If the selectors are more interested in showing regional bias while selecting the team, then they should be sacked first.
The ideal test team would be Gam

only a pig headed fellow like u can select such team which comprises of mostly "phalthu" 20-20 format players.....most of these players cant even stay at the wicket against quality pace attack of AUS, SA, and even ENG n PAK pacers on a good, firm pitch....only dravid is capable of playing and scoring against this type of attack...rest of them are just "jokers"....and anyone who comments negative abt dravid's ability in 1 dayers is a biggest joker....including the selection panel....

The ideal test team would be Gambhir, Sehwag, Dravid, Sachin, Laxman, Badrinath, Dhoni(Captain),Harbhajan,Zaheer ,Praveenkumar & Amit Mishra(if played on friendly subcontinental tracks) or Vinaykumar/Abimanyu Mithun (if played on pace friendly tracks overseas).
The other 3 members may be Murali Vijay, Dinesh Karthik & Sreeshanth( if playing against sledging Australia) or Ishant Sharma.
R THE BCCI & SELECTORS LISTENING????????

Yes....even laxman is not a bad selection for comming world cup, considering the inability of so called " young talents" to face up against quality pace attack...not a bad team...bowling needs to be strenghened a bit...

Why noone is talking about Women's team????
by iamonlyanindian on May 13, 2010 06:00 PM

Everyone is after Mohinder Amarnath to the youngest players like Ambati Rayudu and Ajinkya Rahane. But no one is talking about one team which is already in semi-finals by beating all odds. People, wake up and give your support to the likes of MIthali Raj, Diana, Rumali, etc. They are really doing well.
