Dhoni not a bad captain either
by Rajesh Gupta on May 13, 2010 05:13 PM  | Hide replies

We are No. 1 in TEST renking
We are No. 2 in ODI renking
These great moments of Indian Cricket were provided by the same Captain Dhoni and almost the same team we have in T20 (Great Tendulkar, Dravid, sahwag were not there)
So lets try to support them and try to raised the issue honesty, instead of non-sense talks...

SPIT AT THE SUN AND SULLY YOUR OWN FACE
by Mohit Sinha on May 13, 2010 01:35 PM

I dont know what jokers are criticising Gavaskar & Tendulkar!! Please get your facts right:

GAVASKAR: Before the 70-71 WI tour India had never beaten WI even in a single test, and his 774 runs in 4 tests India won the Siries against gary Sobers team with Wesley hall & Co... has 13 Centuries just against WI Pace Battery (history's most feared) of the 70s & 80s,... (ALL THIS WITHOUT WEARING THE HELMET!!... THATS GUTS FOR YOU!!) Agreed that he was opposed to ODIs initially (1975) but so was DON BRADMAN!!, but when he took to it after the 83 WC he captained India to the 84 B&H "Audi Series", had a 68 ball 121 in the Reliance 87 WC...

Tendulkar: Saying anything about him is like showing a candle to the Sun,... When he was just in his teens, he made a blazing 156 at Perth (more hostile than Barbados!!)... and he had everyone , great cricket historians to SIR DON Himself taking notice... And that is not One Off His Away record and centuries were better than his home record... Against Australia he has the best record in the world... Even recently he was toying with LEE and TAIT int recent Aussiee test series.. at PERTH , OVAL,Sydney & melbourne.... And in SA WC 2003 His Highest Runs in a WC still stands... And he was the best bat in IPL-3.

Shoeing Shastry is OK he has been the only one to have been BOOED "SHASTRY HAAY HAAY!!" by his home crowAs for Azhar he was a sensa

Forget about T20
by Joston b on May 13, 2010 01:31 PM  | Hide replies

We are winning one day tournaments and we are at no 2
we are winning The Test matches and we are at no 1
what else we want
T20 is just a fun y to set records and win cups if we win its better and if we loose forget it and practice for onedayers and test matches

Former player had only one world cup so they talk so much but if we see the rankings did they have any number rankings

Dhoni is better for oneday and test

Matchfixing?

MATCHFIXING could be the reason... the decisions DHONI took cannot be taken as bad judgement...there is definitely more to it...

Former India captain Mohd Azharuddin felt the same but he said that cannot be cited as an excuse.

"Obviously if you stay up the whole night, it would affect you. Players should be responsible enough. The game is more important than the parties. Excuses like these cannot be given after you lose," he said.......how dare this fellow pass these comments...

CORE OF THE PROBLEM
by Mohit Sinha on May 13, 2010 12:56 PM  | Hide replies

Instead of beating round the bush lets get our facts straight:
1) IPL performances, ovehyped by the media breed a false sense of complacency. IPL is at the end of the day a club level tournament, where you just see-off guys like Steyn, Nannis etc and milk and smash rookies. pitches in IPL are prepared to neutralize pace, bounce and the kick of the wicket.

2)Dhoni has taken lots of credit and got lots of hype for victories which were got basically by the likes of Yuvraj (2007 T20WC), Tendulkar (50-50 series in Audtralia where he fired massiveley in the last three games), Sehwag, Gambhir etc... EOD these guys are feeling cheated and let-down by Dhoni's hogging the lime-light, endorsements and cash when there is success and blaming players in defeat... So these days they are not giving in their 100% behind Dhoni.

3)Dhoni/srikanth are biased towards his CSK team-mates take the case of Sehwag opting out, Utthappa shd have been sent instead of Murali. Ishant should have been considered despite his poor IPL form coz he is the only bowler who hits the deck hard and has the required height for steep bounce,... He could have exploited Barbados... recall that he had a guy like Ricky Hopping like a chicken in Australia Test series. And lastly Raina is given preference over Rohit Sharma who has much more compact technique and ability to play the short ball... compare His blazing 84 against the 150 KMPH Aussies..!! And Raina's slow 32 agst WT pace whe Rohit was wrongly given out.

Dhoni
by arnab mitra on May 13, 2010 12:03 PM  | Hide replies

No doubt he is a good captain and led India forward but now its time for MR KOOL to try the flexibility factors instead of being stubborn with his instincts. He has never been critised for his team performance of late but this WEST INDIES flop show needed more character from MR KOOL after leading India for some years now. Decisions, batting order, selection process, bouncy pitches , etc all went against Dhoni and he should take all the responsibilities himself .ANYWAY END OF THE DAY , NO ONE EXPECTED HONESTLY THAT INDIA LL BRING THE CUP HOME AFTER THE SUPER EIGHT STARTED. Better luck next time

He is all right. I am sure he will learn from his mistakes. A team is not captain alone. Plans needs to be executed. Easy for arm chair experts to criticize.

I agree with you except one point that Dhoni never criticized before.

Media criticized him after every loss either last T-20 WC or CT.

Its Attitude that made Dhonis loss.
A game where you need to contain opposition or score runs in less than stipulated overs calls for character which Dhoni and his men lacked. In such kind of situation any team would have gone to chase rather than defend. It was evident as Srilanka defeated India.Dhonis men lacked attitude and that killer instict to beleive that they could have chased.Neverthless, if you have IPL before World Cup you will see the same execuse from Dhoni and his team in 2011 as well
