"A Picture can speak a Thousand Words". Isn't that true? Somehow i must appreciate that the photo of Mr.Lalit Modi taken for this article is apt for this. His greedy eyes tells us everything.
Whenever I read the message board, I feel there is so much negativity. I am no fan of IPL but I definitely respect Modi for what he has been able to achieve in such a short time. If he aspires to make IPL bigger than NBA and NFL, whats wrong in that? He did not say that it is already bigger. It is like telling a child that since his family is uneducated, he can not aspire to become a scientist. Get out of this crab mentality.

IT IS NOT NEGITIVITY the people know it is a waste of time and a futile activity and only an Indian mania .such events in s/e Asia only encourage corruption and malpractice ,those who involved in this are all dubious characters.all the outsiders are coming to loot the indian wealth

Cricket administrators all over the world are so resistant to change. They have to accept that test cricket just does not fit into the modern scheme of things. Today people do not have the time to watch a game for five days. I also do not buy the argument that test cricket is the real cricket. Any game played over five days is going to be challenging both physically and mentally. Better then make it 15 days long so that its even a harder test of your stamina and concentration. This is a completely flawed argument just to keep the status quo. From the spectator point of view, test cricket just does not make sense.

Yes Ashwin - the judgmental nature of the boarders can be putting off sometimes. The discussions take a lot more personal tone rather than topic based, merit based discussions.
"There is something about IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi that suggests a reservoir of pressurised energy waiting to bypass Indian cricket's myopic administrators, the nepotism, corruption, vested interests, personal fiefdoms and incompetence."
As I see it, Modi himself is the best symbol of 'myopic administrators, the nepotism, corruption, vested interests, personal fiefdoms and incompetence', not something waiting to bypass it!
No doubt about it ,it is dubious extravaganza which include bollywood under world corrupt Indian politicians money hungry demi gods of cricket betting mafia and what not ? do not get surprised if preity zinta or shilpa shetty do a janet Jackson trick
Modi thinks he is some kind of big shot person who is comparing his IPL to true big events.
NBA, EPL, etc have huge followings around the world, they are leagues which are over 100 years old. But modi is comparing a league which is 2 years old with them. The guy is a joker!
Next we will hear him say that IPL is bigger than the Olympics!!

For marwaris money is bigger than anything does not matter how it comes no problem even if you sell your other part and modi is not different from them bigger means more money does not care of truth and beauty of game
